ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATION

1.0 GENERAL DESCRIPTION

1.1 The work to be done under this Specifications consists of the supply, fabrication and installation
complete in all details, of the Electrical work, at the subject premises, and all work and
materials incidental to the proper completion of the installation, except those portion of work
which are expressly stated to be done by others. The requirements in regard to materials
and workmanship specify the required standards for the furnishing of all labor, materials and
equipment necessary for the complete installation of the work specified herein and indicated
on the drawings. These specifications are intended to provide a broad outline of the required
installation, but are not intended to include all details of design and construction.

2.0 SCOPE OF WORK

2.1 Under this division and together with the Specifications, provide all materials and equipment
and perform all the work necessary for the complete execution of the electrical systems
shown on the electrical systems shown on the electrical drawings with reference to the
general construction drawings as herein specified, or both except as otherwise excluded and
which, without excluding the generality of the foregoing, shall include but not be limited to
the following principal items of the work:

2.1.1 Supply and installation of all wires, feeders, and disconnect switch (if required). All
wires shall be placed in conduit (refer to Section 8.0)

2.1.2 Supply and installation of all lighting and power circuits (wires, conduits and fixture).

2.1.3 Supply and installation of complete data and telephone system.

2.1.4 Supply and Installation of CCTV, security and fire alarm system.
2.1.5 Complete testing and commissioning of all electrical and auxiliary systems.

2.1.6 Securing and payment of electrical wiring permits and certificate of electrical
inspections.

2.1.8 If anything has been omitted for any items of work or materials usually furnished which
are necessary for the completion of the entire as outlined herein before, then such
items must be and hereby included in this division of work. The work as specified
herein shall be turned over complete and operational.

2.1.9 Submission of as-built plans and test results.

3.0 EXTRA WORK

Submit to the Owner cost estimate of all extra works that shall be deemed necessary during the
progress of the work for approval before commencement of works.

4.0 SITE INVESTIGATION

The Contractor is required to visit the site and to ascertain himself as to the existing condition that
may affect his work. He will be deemed to have done this before preparing his proposal; any
subsequent claims on the ground of inaccurate information will not be entertained.

5.0 CODES, INSPECTION, PERMITS AND FEES

5.1 The work under this Contract is to be installed according to the latest requirements of the
Philippine Electrical Codes, the rules and regulations of local authorities and the
requirements of the local Power and Telephone Utility Companies. Nothing contained in
these specifications or shown in the drawings shall be constructed as to conflict with the
National and Local Ordinances or Laws governing the installation of electrical works, and all
such laws and ordinances are hereby made part of these specifications.

5.2 All permits and electrical fees required for this work shall be obtained and paid for by the
Contractor. Furnish the Owner a final certificate of inspection and approval of the electrical
work involved from the proper government authorities after the completion of Work. The
Contractor shall prepare at his expense all as-built plans and other paperwork required by
the approving authorities.

5.3 Perform such tests necessary for the work, replace and/or remedy all defective work, and adjust
such systems as needed or as the Owner or his representative shall direct. Prepare also an
instruction manual necessary for the proper use and preparation of the systems and
equipment installed.
6.0 STANDARD OF MATERIALS

6.1 All materials shall be new and shall conform to the Philippine Standard in every case where
such standard has been established for the particular type of materials.

6.2 All materials on all systems shall comply with the following specifications, unless specifically not
included, and all materials not specified shall be of the best of their respective kind.

6.3 Submit catalogs/samples of materials for approval as requested by the Engineer.

7.0 WIRES AND CABLES

7.1 All wires shall be copper, soft-drawn and annealed, shall be of 98% conductivity, shall be
smooth and true and of a cylindrical form and shall be within 1% of the actual size called for.

7.2 Wires and cables shall comply with the requirements of the PEC as they apply to the particular
usage.

7.3 Wires and cables for lighting and power systems shall be plastic insulated for 600V working
pressure, type THHN unless otherwise noted on plans or specified below.

7.4 All wires, 8mm² or larger shall be stranded copper or whenever flexibility requires the use of
stranded copper for smaller wires will be allowed.

7.5 Control leads for motors or lighting shall be type THHN.

7.6 For lighting and power systems, no wire smaller than 3.5 sq. mm. shall be used, except for
control leads.

7.7 All wires and cables shall be as manufactured by American Wires & Cable, Phelps Dodge,
Philflex or approved equal.

7.8 Conductors shall be color coded in accordance with PEC. (A-Red, B-Yellow, C-Blue, N-White,
Grd-Green or Yellow Green)

8.0 RACEWAY

8.1 Intermediate Metal Conduit (IMC) shall be installed for all main and sub-mains for all systems
when exposed and as shown on drawings. EMT (Electrical Metallic Tubing) shall be allowed
for installations in ceiling void or inside gypsum partitions where not subject to mechanical
damage.

8.2 EMT conduit shall be used for all systems when embedded in slab and uPVC for underground
installation.
8.3 When cable tray is necessary for flexibility, the tray shall be perforated bottom with solid cover
and of galvanized zinc coated sheet gage 20.

8.4 Flexible liquid tight PVC Jacketed steel conduit shall be used for connections to motors and
equipment subject to vibration and in wet or damp locations.

8.5 All intermediate metal conduit (IMC) shall be zinc-coated mild steel tubing meeting Philippine
Electrical Code specifications and conforming to Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. Required
weight shall be approximately 35 percent less than rigid conduit in comparable size. Conduit
shall be galvanized inside and outside.

8.6 Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) conduit shall be schedule 40 heavy wall rated for above ground and
underground uses in accordance with PEC Article 5.6.3. Conduit shall conform the NEMA to
TC-2 and UL-651 standards. Fittings, such as couplings, elbows or sets, conduit adapter,
etc., shall be fabricated from same materials as conduit.

8.7 Approved manufacturers for IMC conduits are Allied, McGill, Sumitomo, Matsushita Electrical
Works or approved equal.

8.8 Approved manufacturers for PVC conduits are Moldex, Crown or approved equal.

9.0 OUTLET BOXES AND FITTINGS

9.1 At all system outlets of whatever kind, there shall be provided a suitable fitting, which shall be
either a box or either device especially designed to receive the type of fitting to be mounted
thereon.

9.2 This contractor shall consult with the Engineers as to the nature of the various fittings to be
used before installing his outlet fittings and shall conform strictly to use of fittings, to the
nature of the appliance to be mounted on them, so that the work, when completed will be
finished as intended.

9.3 In the case of fixtures, their outlet fittings shall be provided with suitable supports of size and
kind required by the fixture to be hung. Fixture studs if required, shall be of 10mm diameter.

9.4 At all outlets on concealed conduit work, provide hot dip galvanized pressed steel boxes of
standard make and code gauge of no less than Gauge #16. These boxes shall be in all
cases standard and where the Contractor at his own expense shall secure such boxes. In
general, outlet boxes shall be deep type unless otherwise specified.

10.0 JUNCTION AND PULL BOXES

10.1 Junction and pull boxes, of Code Gauge Steel #16, galvanized shall be provided as indicated
or as required for facilitating the pulling of wires and cables. Pull boxes in finished places
shall be located and installed with the permission and to the satisfaction of the
Engineer/Architect.
11.0 PANELS AND CABINETS

11.1 Standard Panels and Cabinets, as much as possible shall be used and assembled on the
jobsite. All panels shall be dead front construction, furnished with trims for flush or surface
mounting as required. Cabinets shall be of Code gauge steel 14 with gutter at least 100mm
wide and wider if necessary. The trim for all panels shall be finished in industrial gray
enamel over a coat of rust inhibitor.

11.2 Panels and cabinets shop drawings shall be submitted before manufacturing. Bus bar sizes,
type of breakers including terminal lug sizes, single line diagram and wire gutter sizes shall
be shown on the shop drawing.

11.3 Lighting panels shall be equipped with branch molded case bolt on type circuit breakers as
required and mains as noted on Plans or panel schedule.

12.0 CIRCUIT BREAKERS

12.1 Feeder breakers shall be GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) molded case, manually
operated and bolt-on type.

13.0 AUXILIARY SYSTEMS (FIRE ALARM, CCTV, MOTION DETECTORS)

13.1 All devices and equipment including control panels shall be new and of approved type as
shown in plan. Location may be adjusted to suit new interior design in coordination with the
Architect/Engineer.

13.2 Conduit: Provide conduit and wires for all system as per manufacturer’s standard. Conduit
shall be as specified with a minimum diameter of 20mm for single outlets.

14.0 TELEPHONE & DATA SYSTEM

14.1 The type of horizontal cable shall be 4-pair unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cat 5E. The UTP
shall be of 24AWG bare solid copper conductors with PVC insulation and twisted into pairs.

14.3. All outlets shall be of ISDN 8-position/8-conductor standard type and shall be capable of
receiving conventional 4 and 6-pin jack/plug of 24 AWG solid wires.

14.4 The MDF, & TTC shall consist of termination blocks for termination of copper cables and
provision for lightguide interconnection units for termination of optical fibers.

14.5 The termination block shall facilitate cross-connection and inter-connection. The wiring block
shall be able to accommodate 24 AWG cable conductors, fire-retardant, molded plastic
blocks consisting of horizontal index strips for terminating 100 pairs of conductors each.
These index strips shall be marked with five colors on the high teeth, separating the tip and
ring of each pair, to establish pair location.

14.6 Two types of termination block shall be used, either a punch panel or a patch panel. The
punch panel shall be in 100 pairs or 300 pairs form, whereas the patch panel shall be in 300
or 900 pairs or equivalent.

14.7 The termination block shall cater for voice and data speed up to 155Mpbs.

14.8 The block shall be Underwriter’s Laboratories (UL) listed.

15.0 LIGHTING FIXTURES

15.1 Lighting Fixture shall be provided as specified on the drawings.

15.2 Fluorescent lighting fixtures and its entire component shall be of the same manufacture. Use of
electronic ballast is permitted.

15.3 Fixture housing shall be baked enamel, Gauge # 24, minimum steel unless otherwise
specified.

16.0 GROUNDING SYSTEM

16.1 Grounding system shall include wires, clamps, connectors, ground buses, and auxiliary
wiretaps as shown in the drawings.

16.2 The equipment grounding system shall be so designed to all metallic structures, enclosures,
raceways, junction boxes, cabinets, machine frames, portable equipment and other
conductive items in close proximity with electric circuits operate continuously at ground
potential and provide a low impedance path for possible ground fault currents. The systems
shall comply with PEC, modified as indicated on the drawings and/or as specified.

16.3 Ground wires shall be bare stranded, with sizes as shown in the drawings and shall be
cylindrical form and within 1% of actual size called for.
