Learning is an important issue and should be a top priority for young people today.
Students’
learning styles influence how individuals learn and approach learning situations. Understanding and
classifying student learning styles is critical in the effort to improve the effectiveness of student
learning. The purpose of this essay was to investigate learning styles among university students. We
can divide students’ learning styles into three categories based on their level of focus on studying:
lazy style, hard-working style and perfunctory style.
Laziness in studying is a phenomenon where students do not have the spirit of learning, feel bored
with their studies, do not study hard to improve themselves, but are absorbed in running after
hobbies that make them more and more depressed. Many people believe that they are smart and
talented, so they can solve academic problems without having to study hard. Following this line of
thought, lazy students assert that they simply need to learn quickly with no training skills or effort to
gain knowledge. However, the result would not be what they imagined. In fact, when lazy students
have to deal with specific work and challenges, it is impossible for lazy students who do not have
enough knowledge, skills, and experience to find the right process to solve the problems. As a result,
students who have a lazy learning style will struggle to achieve good academic results. Moreover,
this terrible learning style certainly leads to major knowledge gaps. The cost of laziness is not
immediately apparent, but it will almost certainly have a significant unintended consequence.
Negligence and dependence will make it difficult to achieve your goals. Try to work hard because, as
someone once said, “there are no footprints of lazy people on the road to success.”
Contrary to a lazy student, a diligent student will spend their time researching and finding more
knowledge to improve their learning ability instead of chasing after hobbies. Following the diligent
learning style, students take advantage of the development of information technology, media
websites, and social networks to find lesson materials instead of following the temptation to indulge
in video games. These students know how to separate the time between leisure and study
reasonably so that their academic performance is not affected. A hard-working learning style is
always important in studying. This learning style is a key for students to get good academic
achievements.
Aside from the two phenomena mentioned above, there is another phenomenon known as learning
like not learning. It means that students just study perfunctorily to pass the examination, and not
fully concentrate on their academic practical value. These elements are teaching them how to deal
with studying and testing from teachers. They finish their assignments and go to school on time, but
they don’t care about the grades as long as they get enough points to pass the subject. This learning
style has a significant impact on students’ thinking. They have not fully developed their talents, and
their thinking ability remains limited, making it impossible for them to progress. These people will
have a difficult time finding work in the future because they will lack creative ideas.
According to students’ level of focus on studying, we can divide students’ learning styles into three
groups. They are lazy learning style, hard-working learning style, and perfunctory learning style. The
implications of this classification are that it helps teachers and students understand deeply different
learning styles and how students study in each style. On the basis of this classification and
understanding, schools and teachers can help students improve their academic performance and
promote lifelong learning. Society is becoming more advanced, and people are becoming more
talented than ever before. If we do not stop trying to learn and grasp life, we will all be left behind.
As a result, we students must know how to seize the opportunity and strive to study diligently
beginning today in order to live happily ever after.
