A Brief Understanding of Ergonomics

Ergonomics is the study of how work affects the human body. It’s a discipline that, by its very nature,
aims to improve workspaces, products, and environments to minimize the risk of injury or harm.
Ergonomics aims to create safe, comfortable, and productive workspaces that suit all people’s needs.
The aim of ergonomic design is not only to make your workplace better but also to make it safer. If
you work in an office where you’re constantly interrupted by emails and phone calls, it’s
counterproductive for you to be sitting for long periods of time on the floor in front of your computer.
So, ergonomics can help you figure out what could be better about your workspace so that you can
make adjustments without compromising productivity or safety.

It’s important to note that ergonomics is not just about preventing injuries (although it does do this); it
also aims to improve productivity and satisfaction through improved workspace design. Ergonomics
is the study of how humans use their bodies and senses to perform activities. It's also a very important
topic in the field of occupational safety and health, as well as workplace safety in general.

Ergonomics aims to improve workspaces and environments to minimize the risk of injury or harm.
Ergonomics aims to create safe, comfortable, and productive workspaces so that workers can be
productive, healthy, and safe while they're working. The term ergonomics was coined in the 1950s by
Dr. Ruth Kedu. She was a Harvard University professor who researched the effects of physical design
on human performance at work. The aim of ergonomic design is to reduce or eliminate the risk of
injury by improving the usability of a product or system through the use of appropriate materials,
components, and techniques for users' position and movement within it - for example, using
adjustable height desks instead of fixed ones; providing adjustable chairs instead of fixed ones; using
low lighting levels; etcetera.

Understanding Ergonomics At Work

Ergonomics is the study of planning work errands to fit the specialist, remembering the capacities and
restrictions of the human body. A compelling ergonomic improvement process looks to differentiate
and remove any impediment to the greatest work limit and cut off specialist weakness and distress
while further developing cycle effectiveness and efficiency.

 Occupations and errands that are frustrating, inefficient, or uncomfortable are regularly not
ergonomically right.
 Ergonomic issues bring about efficiency, productivity, quality, and safety issues.
The GOAL of ergonomics is to prevent worker fatigue and discomfort that can lead to potential
MSDs and to make the company more competitive and successful in reaching its goals.

Good Ergonomics = Good Economics

Some benefits:
 Increased worker safety.
 Improved worker comfort.
 Reduce Fatigue.
 Reduction in corporations’ indirect losses.
 Lower injury rates.
 Improved overall health of the worker.
 Happy Environment at workplace.
