Finish the hit. Finish the tackle. Finish the play. Finish the game.
Defence - Objectives
If the other team cant score, they cant beat us. 1.
Prevent Score
Pursue and gang tackle Stop long runs Stop long passes Stop long drives Gain possession of ball for offence
2.
3.
4.
Score
Take away ball inside their 30-yard line Return a take-away for a touchdown Safety touch
Defence - Aims
1. Control the running game with 8 men by reading and reacting to the blocking schemes. Control/contain passer by pressuring them with 5 to 6 men. Bringing more than one tackler to the ball (pursue!) and applying devastating tackles to create takeaways. Control gaps to control the run. Maintain outside contain to force ball carrier to your support. Know where your help is. Communicate. Talk. Let other players know what is happening. This includes players on the sidelines.

Special Teams
Kickoff is the most AGGRESSIVE play in football. Explosive athletes running ~ 30 yards as fast as they can to contact Like a movie scene from Saving Private Ryan storming the beach at Normandy FAST. AGGRESSIVE. UNSELFISH.
