Introduction
A small island called Capul Island is located in the Philippine province of
Northern Samar. Despite its small size, the island has a fascinating history and
stunning scenery that make it worth visiting. Nature enthusiasts will like Capul Island
because the mangrove woods, coral reefs, and Pacific Ocean are all beautifully visible
from the island. Visitors may visit the island's fishing communities and get a taste of
the unique culture that exists there. The waters surrounding the island are filled with
marine life, making it the ideal location for snorkeling and diving. Capul Island is
actuality a hidden gem that promotes not only the Philippine history but also its natural
beauty. The island's peaceful atmosphere and tranquil beauty offer a much-needed
getaway from the hectic city life.
For our planned vacation trip, our goal is to visit eight different tourist spots that
the people of Capul are really proud of. We plan to visit the historical church of the
town that has a long-standing history for more than two centuries. And since the
summer heat is definitely on, we are lucky that this small island is blessed with
amazing beaches with pristine waters and powdery white sand. Capul is also known
for its Faro de Isla Capul (Capul Island Lighthouse) which is one of the few remaining
operational lighthouses in the country. Lastly, we will explore the Vito Cave, Fox Holes,
and the Banadero Nature Spring that has been the source of water supply for the
people of Capul for a long period of time.
Transportation
The island of Capul can be reached in two different ways from the city of Manila.
The first option is to ride a bus in PITX going to Matnog, Sorsogon which will take an
estimate of 13 hours travel timr. From there, we will ride a motorboat from Matnog port
for another one hour to officially reach the island.
The next option is to ride an airplane from NAIA Terminal to Calbayog Airport
which usually takes one hour. From there, we will ride a van going to Allen Port, and
take a motorboat going to the island with a travel time of one hour.
For our trip, we will go with the latter option.
Where to Stay
We all agreed to remain at Poblacion 4. The cost of renting a place is typically
lower in rural locations than in urban ones due to their gorgeous nature. Life in the
province is quiet as well, peaceful, and away from the hustle and bustle sounds of
automobiles and buses or noise from people, among other things. In addition, prices
for goods, especially fresh fruit, are lower than in the metropolis.
Capul Island is known to have hospitable people. That being said, one of our
groupmates who grew up from the said island offered their house as a place where
the group can stay and sleep throughout the trip.
Moreover, we will get to appreciate the breathtaking natural scenery as we
wake up in the early hours of the day with some fresh air to breathe. It's also a lot
simpler to commute in the Poblacion, which will allow us to reach our location faster.
It's easy to navigate, and the neighbors are usually friendlier. Overall, what we aim for
when considering the place to stay for our vacation, is for us to feel comfortable and
enjoyable.
Graph
Application to the Lesson
Walk
A walk is a sequence of vertices and edges of a graph. There are no restrictions, so
vertices and edges can be repeated.
Example:
W = Acapulco Beach, Capul Island Lighthouse, Acapulco Beach, San Ignacio de
Loyola Church, Poblacion 4
Trail
Trail is an open walk in which no edge is repeated. However, vertex can be repeated.
Example:
T = Fox Holes and Banadero Nature Spring, Poblacion 4, San Ignacio de Loyala
Church, Fox Holes and Bandero Nature Spring, Abak Beach Resort
Path
Path is a walk with no repeated vertex. This directly implies that no edges will ever be
repeated and hence is redundant to write in the definition of path.
Example:
P = Alisampan Beach, Vito Cave Sawang, Pinangandao Beach, Capul Island
Lighthouse
Euler’s Trail and Euler’s Circuit
The Euler’s trail on the graph is a trail that will pass through all edges. If the Euler’s
trail starts and ends on the same vertex, it is called Euler’s circuit.
Example of Euler’s Trail:
T = Fox Holes and Banadero Nature Spring, Poblacion 4, San Ignacio de Loyola
Church, Fox Holes and Banadero Nature Spring, Abak Beach Resort, Alisampan
Beach,Vito Cave Sawang, Pinangandao Beach, Capul Island Lighthouse, Acapulco
Island Beach, San Ignacio de Loyola Church
Hamiltonian Path and Hamiltonian Cycle
A Hamiltonian path on a graph is a path that will pass through all vertices. If the
Hamiltonian path starts and ends in the same vertex, it is called Hamiltonian cycle.
Example of Hamiltonian Path:
P = Alisampan Beach, Vito Cave Sawang, Pinngandao Beach, Capul Island
Lighthouse, Acapulco Island Beach, San Ignacio de Loyola Church, Poblacion 4, Fox
Holes and Banadero Nature Spring, Abak Beach Resort
Example of Hamiltonian Cycle:
C = Acapulco Island Beach, Capul Island Lighthouse, Pinangandao Beach, Vito Cave
Sawang, Alisampan Beach, Abak Beach Resort, Fox Holes and Banadero Nature
Spring, Poblacion 4, San Ignacio De Loyola Church, Acapulco Island Beach
