ELEMENTS OF ART:

AUDITORY

Auditory

classified as auditory art. Music is one of the most
widespread form of art, whose intersection daily is most
perceptible. And if there is an important quality that music
has, it is having capacity to transcend barriers, even that of
differences in language or conventions in sound.
ELEMENTS OF
MUSIC
1. RHYTHM
- is the pulse of the music. The basic unit
of music is beat while tempo refers to the
speed (beat/second). Beats can be organized
into
03 a recognizable recurrent pattern, which
is called meter.
Classical terms are used to refer to the variations in tempo,
some of which are:

• Largo - slowly and broadly


• Andante - walking pace
• Moderato - at moderate speed
• Allegro - fast
• Vivace - lively
• Accelerando - gradually speeding up
• Rallentado - gradually slowing down

• Allargando - getting slower, broadening
• Rubato - "robbed time", rhythm is played freely for
expressive effect
2. DYNAMICS
- refers to the loudness or quietness of music.

Classical terms are used to refer to the different levels of


pertaining to this:

• Pianissimo [pp] - very quiet


• Piano [p] - quiet When composers indicate an
• Mezzo-piano [mp] - moderately quiet increase , or decrease in
loudness, they use the terms
• Mezzo-forte [mf] - moderately loud
crescendo for the former; and
• Forte [f] - loud decrescendo or diminuendo for
• Fortissimo [ff] - very loud the latter.
3. Melody 4. Harmony
