must always must be shared if updated.
C&IS Previous Projects 3 Have a Session with the C&IS Community to share experiences C&IS Leader
from Previous Projects that are related to this one. The goal is too
2 find out why it has been succesfull or failed the closest-type project

Approved Flowsheet 1 All the Control Cost Estimates, P&IDs, M&EDLs, Ads, etc will be Project Leader
based on the FlowSheet, so it is critical that this is the LATEST
1 version and that NO MODIFICATIONS ARE MADE TO IT. This
would also mean a Machine Schematics.
Preliminary P&ID 2 Create the first Preliminary P&ID with the components of the Project Leader
FlowSheet. Note that most components share the same
2 Instruments in all the projects, so use this experience to create the
first P&ID.
Preliminary BOM and M&EDL 2 Create the preliminary Bill of Materials, and the Motor & Electrical Project Leader
Devices Listing. The first one is used for a Capital Estimate and the
Second one for a Power Consumption Analysis. Please use the
3 Standard Technologies List.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS STANDARDIZED LIST OF THE
TECHNOLOGIES TO USE THAT GIVE THE BEST VALUE IN THE
LA C&IS WEBSITE

Physical Scope Summary 2 Share a document with PC&IS regarding the Physical parts of the Project Leader
Project, that is, the installation made up primarily of
4 hardware - such as vessels, pumps, heat exchangers, actuators,
motors, packing machines, conveyors, etc. that produces the
desired product.
Preliminary AD 2 The Architecture Diagram describes the Project Leader
5 physical control system and the location of the automation
functions within the physical equipment.
Preliminary URD 1 The C&IS Leader using the Flowsheet, P&ID, BOM, M&EDL, C&IS Leader
Physical Summary and the AD can create the URD. The User
Requirements Document describes WHAT the Control Software
6 must do for the Project.
Please note that Operations should ALWAYS be involved, mainly if
this is a modification or a new process in an already established
Manufacturing Site.

CSS 3 The CSS (Control System Strategy) describes the general C&IS Leader
Philosophy that the project Control System will use. This is
7 generally based on the Site preferences, and can be used from any
other project (for example, use Intouch vs RSView, or use SLC500
vs ControlLogix).
SSD 3 The SSD (Software Standards Document) is the Software Project C&IS Leader
Plan that defines how the PLC and the HMI will be programmed,
8 and the standards used in the Site. Normally, this should be alligned
with Regional Recommendations and must be requested during the
Quotation Process.
Power Definition 3 With the M&EDL a session with the Power Team must be made to Power Leader
establish if the Plant has enough capacity to handle the Power
9 Needs. There is a huge capital difference between growing an MCC
or buying a new one. This can trigger a need for a more profund
power study depending on the project.
C&IS Capital Estimate 1 With all the documentation in this stage, the output is a PC&IS C&IS Leader
Capital Estimate that can give a very clear direction on the
10 ammount of capital needed to fulfill the needs, and the risks taken
with this decisions.

Identify Long Lead Equipment 2 If any equipment has a long delivery that would cause the CPS to C&IS Leader
11 be out of acceptable limits, then it must be Purchased in this stage.

C&IS Staffing Study 1 There must be a C&IS Staffing Study in three areas: C&IS Leader
Engineering- to see that the C&IS staffing can fulfill all the Project
Requirements
12 OEM or Contractors- to guarantee they can REALLY deliver the
System and is not a complicated Journey
Operations- to see that they will be able to operate and maintain the
new System

Definition P&ID 3 With all the new steps in EWP, it is probable that he P&ID can be Project Leader
1 improved to have more details and accurate information of the
Process.
Physical Process PC&IS 2 If there is are more requirements (or special items) that must be Project Leader
Requirements considered in the PC&IS Definition, here should be stated. For
2 example, if a Tank is going to handle a flamable liquid, then the
PC&IS equipment must be Explosion Proof.
Definition URD 3 The most important item for the definition URD is the integration of Project Leader
the parts, for example, how a Case Packer will interact with the
Labeler that sends bottles, or Filler with the LPD that sends finish
3 product.
Include Changes that the Definition P&ID and Process might bring
with more details.
4 Definition AD 3 The AD must also require updates from the new P&ID and URD. Project Leader
Logics Description (First Issue) 2 This document must tell what the Logic of the System will be using C&IS Leader
Standard Device Logic, Sequential Flow Charts, Block Flow
Diagrams, Batch Sequence Overview, Timing Charts, or any other
5 means to describe the detailed control requirements. The goal is to
have understanding or the interlocks, permissives and operator
interactions

Project C&IS Plan 1 Create the plan of who, how and when each of the Control System C&IS Leader
will be implemented. For example, the PLC software will be done by
6 P&G C&IS experts or by using an external contractor. The Team
Charter and CPS to the project must be delivered.

C&IS Capital Final Cost 1 With the above documentation, modify the Capital Estimate to have Project Leader
7
a Final Version.
Purchase Long Delivery Equipment 2 Purchase the Long Lead Equipment after the Definition URD and Project Leader
8
AD shows that they are still required
Frozen P&ID 2 The P&ID must be frozen to define the latest BOM and M&EDL and Project Leader
9
start requesting Quotations
Final URD 2 The final URD must be made to start doing the Software Design Project Leader
Basis (SDB). Note that the URD and SDB can be the same
10 document. If different, then they should be a mirror, whre the URD
describes WHAT must be done, and the SDB describes HOW to do
it.
First SDB 4 The SDB (Software Design Basis) will be developed by the C&IS C&IS Leader
team assigned in the Project Plan. The goal is to start using the
11 Experience, Vendors, Contractors, Operators and any needed
resource to find the most Low Cost and most Reliable solution to
see HOW we will do the URD work.
Logics Description (Second Issue) 3 The Logics Description must be updated to include the SDB C&IS Leader
12
solutions found.
Preliminary Software Test Plans 3 The Software is normally finished BEFORE the Hardware and C&IS Leader
Physical Process is ready to run. To guarantee that the Software is
Bug-Free, a Simulation or any Preliminary Test plans must be
13 developed. This is critical to guarantee that the Software will be
properly tested before running for Tests. Also, it should be included
a manner to operate the simulated software as it will be needed for
TT&T purposes later.

2 This Ownership movement is critical to establish that everything in
the URD and the SDB is completelly matched with the Construction
and Supervision of the Project
F2F PC&IS For Review Zero for 1 Do a F2F to have a final PC&IS Approval to Purchase Equipment Project Leader
Purchasing and Construction and Start Construction including Integrators, PC&IS Regional and
Local team, Project Managers, Technical Leaders, etc.
3 Experience says that the Technical aspects covered in the F2F are
too dificult to grasp via Ccalls, so avoiding the F2F travel costs
should be highly evaluated.

Final SDB 3 The Final SDB must be written, and delivered to create the RFQ Project Leader
4
with all the Detailed Engineering.
5 Final AD 2 Create the Final AD as established in the SDB Project Leader
6 Final LD 2 Create the Final LD as established in the SDB Project Leader
C&IS Software & Hardware RFQ 1 IT SHOULD BE BEFORE, BUT HOW THIS CAN BE PROPERLLY Project Leader
ESTIMATED WITHOUT A FINAL SDB?

The Request for Quotation for the C&IS Software must be sent to
Purchases. It is very important to include the Starter Kit
7 requirements and to input everything the URD, SDB, CSS and SSD
established
For Machines, the C&IS Team must clearly state the deliverables,
technology to use and Support for Startup
