E. JOB EXPOSURE
Primarily looking after entire revenue purchase which mainly includes Raw Materials (chemicals) –
imported & domestic. International sourcing of commodity chemicals, intermediates, metal scraps,
surfactants / additives, etc. Others also include Packing Materials, Spares & Consumables etc.
Formulate and implement strategies for procurement of Raw Material based on Production Plan.
Preparing Annual Procurement Plan, work-out Procurement Strategy considering long-term
requirement.
Maintain company's competitiveness in market by ensuring purchases at best possible cost. Hold
techno commercial discussion with vendors on price, delivery schedule, quality etc. Negotiate
effectively for price & other terms of contract with vendors for almost all raw material.
Identify potential suppliers able to support realize business objectives. This is applicable for existing
and new business requirements (products under developments).
Maintain optimum inventory of RM & PM, including ageing etc.
Preparation of MIS Reports, Analysis of buying details, periodic update on RM price trend and costing
for pricing etc.
Co-ordination with counterparts at three manufacturing locations, other departments for effective &
efficient execution of the routine activities.
To identify area of improvement, set targets and strive to achieve the same.
Periodic Vendor Evaluation and ensure continual improvement on critical issues.

JOB PROFILE DURING EARLIER THREE ASSIGNMENTS :
PROCUREMENT : I was mainly engaged with procurement of all type of Engineering items, Fuels,
Lubricants, Building material, Computers & Peripherals etc. At Modern Petrofils, involvement was
from project implementation stage and handled buying of various electrical & instrumentation
packages. Also, at Bell Ceramics, worked in project team for 3 MW Gas based Power Plant. Involved
in procurement of various project items in consultation with M/s Kirloskar, co-ordination with all
agencies for timely execution of the project, finalisation of various work contracts etc.
CO-ORDINATION : I was also involved in co-ordination for other activities within the materials
department as well as with other departments like Servicing & repairing Jobs, ARCs, AMCs, MIS
Reports, Computerisation, Inventory Control, Material planning etc.
VARIETY REDUCTION & STANDARDISATION : As a function, it has been my favorite one and I
really enjoyed my work & awarded myself with a lot of job satisfaction. As a result of exhaustive study
at plant level & extensive market survey, it was possible to standardize no. of items and variety
reduction was achieved in each & every commodity e.g. switchgear, photo sensors, controllers,
motors, thermocouples etc.
INDIGENOUS DEVELOPMENT : I have successfully got developed a no. of tailor-made & imported
items indigenously such as photocells, motors, blowers, air circulators, electronic cards, relays with
modules, electromagnetic vibrators etc.
VENDOR DEVELOPMENT : So as to achieve all above & to have better suppliers with better quality,
continuously new vendors were developed& encouraged by conducting regular market surveys.
F. OTHERS
I have my hands on experience of working on two world renowned ERP packages, viz. SAP and MFG-PRO.
Also, I am quite conversant with Internet Sourcing and required related Microsoft Office packages for daily
routine work.
