Problem statements
Transportation visibility and asset monitoring

For Jack, manager of a large grocery chain company, supply chain disruption has been a major issue. The freshness of
perishable stock (farm produce, seafood, etc.) is a challenge and recently he has noticed that a lot of these products are
not fit to use by the time they are delivered leading to increased spoilage and wastage. This has also impacted the
inventory levels and delivery promise of the stores.

Some of the solutions Jack is looking for are:

• Tracking the movement of goods from farm / shore to shelf

• Ability to monitor the products and assets – temperature / handoffs / equipment availability etc.
• Analyzing the impact on important parameters like shelf life, inventory and delivery

Improving a loyalty program at a hospitality firm using emerging technologies

Charles is the new lead for managing the loyalty program of a leading global hospitality chain. With thousands of
members, hundreds of partner organizations and merchants onboard and a large quantity of transactions being
processed every day, the hospitality company has faced issues regarding customer data privacy, fraudulent
transactions, processing of real-time rewards among other things. Part of Charles' role is to also improve the loyalty
program offerings and improve sales stemming from the loyalty program.

Charles is now keen to find answers and solutions to the following issues:

• How to use blockchain to improve lead times for reward redemptions and customer data privacy? What other
purposes can the blockchain solution serve the program?
• How to use AI / ML to improve the loyalty offerings for its members? Will some other technology / process aid this
requirement?
• What other steps should the loyalty program take to improve sales for its hospitality brands?
