FADE IN:

EXT. SWAMP - DAY

SUPER: Florida 1817

Fireflies dance in the dense bushes. High above, and out of

no where, a GREAT HORNED OWL swoops through the trees! It
flies gracefully, ducking and dodging several obstacles; it
sees its destination and perches high on a cypress branch.

The bird's large eyes zoom in on two people in the distance --

A NATIVE AMERICAN MAN wearing chiefly apparel and a

CONFEDERATE GENERAL. The chief takes something from the
General's hand. The two men talk but their voices aren't
heard.

The majestic bird blinks and looks away. Its large wings open
and it flies away.

EXT. OPEN FIELD - DAY

The sun fades over an African male, JOHN COWAYA and a female,
SABLE, both in their twenties, barely clothed and bound by
heavy chains. They appear to be runaways. Both of them stare
out at a large Native American assembly.

To their right are four NATIVE AMERICAN CHIEFS and to their

left is a cohort of confederate soldiers.

The spokesman of the chiefs and the one we saw in the swamps,
chief WILDCAT steps forward.

WILDCAT
(Mikisuki language)
To prevent anymore bloodshed, I and
the other elders have agreed to
return the runaways.

Members of the tribe murmur and complain.

Wildcat lifts his hands to settle the crowd.

WILDCAT (CONT'D)
It is for the good of the land.

ORENDA (V.O.)
The land cries out against you
Wildcat!
2.

The crowd gaze at the skies -- the great horned owl descends
to the center of everyone. Before its feet touches the ground
it transforms into a Native American female, ORENDA, 24,
she's beautiful and heroic.

Some from the crowd ooh and ahh. Some even whisper the owl-
monster's name...

CROWD
STIKINI! STIKINI!

WILDCAT
Orenda?!

She stands before all with a owl feather head dress. She
wears a flannel garment, accented with feathers.

ORENDA
The great spirit has declared all
creatures are free. The runaways
are safe here.
(pause)
You will unleash a curse if you
send them back.

Wildcat places one hand on his chest proudly and points back
to the others.

WILDCAT
WE have convened on this matter.

ORENDA
It is not the will of the PEOPLE,
you know our customs! Greed has
blinded your vision.
(pause)
These people will bring war upon
us.

CLICK!

Everyone turns to look at the confederate general, ANDREW

JACKSON (30's). He's perched on a black steed and a shiny
cocked pistol lays across his lap.

Next to him on a horse is a Indian man that appears to be

from another tribe; his clothing is different.

Jackson is un-nerved by the magic trick. He's a battle-

hardened warrior and glares into the eyes of Orenda.
3.

JACKSON
Enough with your Indian curses.
Good money has been paid for them
niggers.
(pause)
I got business to settle with them
slaves, ESPECIALLY that little
thief.

Jackson eyeballs the female slave who clutches an elaborate

amulet around her neck. She cowers behind her brother.

SABLE
(African accent)
It is you who are the thief!

The male slave scowls at Jackson; he's unnerved. A tattoo of

a white coyote glows on his arm.

Orenda focuses on chief Wildcat.

ORENDA
(Mikisuki language)
A deal with the devil never turns
out the way you think.

The Indian next to Jackson leans over and whispers; Jackson

smirks.

JACKSON
Careful who you call devil. I'm not
the one using sorcery.
(pause)
I'm only here for my property.

Jackson nods to a couple of soldiers to retrieve the slaves.

Orenda raises her hands -- TO STOP!

ORENDA
THEY ARE FREE!

JACKSON
It's high time for someone to teach
you how to stay in a woman's place.

Jackson extends his pistol -- suddenly a solid white coyote

sinks its fangs into the generals arm!

BANG!

The horse is spooked and throws Jackson to the ground.

In a panic, some of the soldiers fire shots into the crowd!

4.

The assembly scatters, some fall, but others retaliate;

launching a swarm of arrows at the soldiers.

Morphing into a coyote too, the African female joins in the

fight. She yanks out the vocal cords of a soldier, but in the
heat of battle the amulet falls to the ground.

Orenda points to Wildcat and the other elders.

ORENDA
You have committed a grave
injustice!

They watch Orenda transform back to the majestic owl. She

takes to the skies!

ORENDA (V.O.)
Cursed be upon you and your seed...
FOREVER!

The bird flies toward the swamps and the coyotes trail behind
her. The smaller coyote glances back at the amulet.

Chief Wildcat picks it up.

The battle between the tribe and the soldiers rages on.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. CLOSE UP ON GROUND - NIGHT

SUPER: Miami, Florida 2022

A small gator skirts through the grass chasing a bug. In the

distance two guys talk in front of a building that looks like
a renovated gas station. There's a bright sign above it that
says: ETERNAL WINDS STUDIO.

EXT. ETERNAL WINDS STUDIO - NIGHT

A muscular built white male whose arms are all sleeved up,
MOOSE, 23 stands in front of the door. On the steps, behind
him is another white male, pale and thin, LEVI CONNER, 18.

MOOSE
Quit being a pussy!

LEVI
Dude, my mom is going to pissed!
5.

MOOSE
BRO, you can't be serious right
now.

Levi looks around biting his nails.

LEVI
She says they're of the devil.

Moose glares at him.

MOOSE
Screw it, let's go!

LEVI
OK, OK. I'LL DO IT.
(points at Moose)
But just a small one.

Moose grins and wraps his arm around Levi's neck; ushering
him into the building.

INT. ETERNAL WINDS STUDIO - LOBBY - NIGHT

Sable sees them come in. Yes, it's the same African woman
from the field, but she hasn't aged a bit. However, a
different energy surrounds her; mysterious and magical.

SABLE
(African accent)
GENTLEMEN, how may I be of
assistance..?

MOOSE
My homie here is getting his first
tatt.

Moose plops down in a nearby chair and grabs a magazine.

Sable stares at Moose for a second then turns her gaze to

Levi.

SABLE
Have any idea what you want?

Levi shyly shrugs. He looks at Moose who's consumed with the

magazine.

Sable points to a collage of pictures on the wall.

6.

SABLE (CONT'D)
There is nothing we can't do. If
you can conjure it, we can make it
happen.

Levi marvels at the colorful jigsaw puzzle of designs

decorating the walls. He's at a loss for words.

Moose closes the magazine impatiently and eyeballs his

friend.

MOOSE
For god sake, just pick something!

Behind them, from the back, walks in ORENDA wearing a pair of

skin tight jeans and a halter-top. She hasn't aged either and
is extremely alluring.

Moose catches a glance of her in his peripheral -- he hops

out his seat!

MOOSE (CONT'D)
WHOA, who is that?

SABLE
The one and only Orenda Hok'ee. She
will be the one performing the
artwork.

Both guys ogle Orenda.

ORENDA
Who am I doing tonight?

MOOSE
Ooh baby, do me, PLEASE!

Orenda steps to Moose. She grabs one of his massive arms and
shakes her head.

ORENDA
Messy... Amateurish.
(pause)
Looks like you're done.

Sable snickers under her breath. She points to Levi.

SABLE
That's the one. It's his first
time. He hasn't chosen anything.

Sable and Orenda make eye contact.

7.

Orenda eyes shift back to the frail canvas. She reaches out
and grabs Levi's hand.

ORENDA
Ah, a virgin, I like those. Come, I
know just what you need.

Orenda takes him to the back.

Moose bounces in excitement.

MOOSE
You lucky dog!

INT. ETERNAL WINDS STUDIO - BACK ROOM - NIGHT

Orenda leads Levi to a used barber's chair and sits him down.
She walks over to a small shelf and picks up a pottery bowl.
It's partially full of green swirling ink.

Levi glances at the bowl and raises up.

LEVI
What, what's that?

She pushes him back in the seat gently.

ORENDA
Only the best for you.

Orenda places the bowl down on a nearby tray. She sits in a

rolling stool next to him, and hikes up his sleeve. Orenda
picks up a hollow bone on the tray and dips it into the bowl;
the bone soaks up a gob of ink.

Levi's eyes widen.

LEVI
Is that safe?

ORENDA
It is said that the chameleon is
the most cunning of animals.

Levi smiles nervously.

ORENDA (CONT'D)
(whispers)
Relax.

Levi closes his eyes and grits his teeth.

Orenda mumbles under her breath.

8.

ORENDA (CONT'D)
(Mikisuki language)
Ancient spirit fill this vessel
with your presence.

Levi's eyes shift over to Orenda, but the initial prick

causes him to close them again.

Orenda moves with extreme precision and speed; it's like

she's possessed. After a short time, she's done.

Orenda rises to her feet and picks up her paraphernalia and

takes it back to the shelf.

Levi opens his eyes and peeks over at her.

LEVI
That's it?

ORENDA
(back turned)
It is complete.

Levi observes the different shades of green in the well

crafted drawing. He smiles.

LEVI
That's bad ass.
(pause)
How much do I owe you?

He leaps out of the chair and digs into his pockets.

ORENDA
(back still turned)
The first one is on the house.

LEVI
No way! I gotta give you something.

Orenda wipes off her hands and glances over her shoulder.
ORENDA
You have given enough.

She turns back and finishes putting her things away.

Levi exits the room.

INT. ETERNAL WINDS STUDIO - LOBBY - NIGHT

Moose talks to Sable at the counter when he spots Levi coming

from the back. He walks toward him.
9.

MOOSE
DUDE, she's done?!

Levi lifts up his sleeve.

LEVI
Check it out!

Moose observes the drawing then looks at his friend and

smirks.

MOOSE
You're kidding right?
(pause)
Who gets a fuckin' LIZARD for their
first tattoo?

Moose doubles over in laughter, then Levi pushes him away.

LEVI
Shows what you know, it's a
chameleon.

Moose pauses to look at his friend, then erupts in laughter

again. He wraps his arm around Levi's neck and escorts him to
the exit.

INT. HOUSE - BEDROOM - NIGHT - LATER

A NATIVE AMERICAN man in his sixties lies on the couch sleep.

The T.V. is on and a bottle of dark liquor is on the floor
next to the couch.

A gust of wind whips through the room, and the man wakes up.
He raises up, looks around, and notices the window is open.

He walks over to the T.V. and turns it off.

A VOICE mutters.

The man glances around the room; nothing. He eyeballs a long

blade on a shelf.

On the opposite side of the room, in a corner SOMETHING big

that blends with the wallpaper moves along the wall and
stops.

Goosebumps rise on the man's arm. In the corner of his eye,

he sees the wallpaper move again. -- He hurries to the knife
but a tail whips across the room, and trips him.

The man looks around but sees nothing. He rises to his feet.
10.

Behind him a giant LIZARD-MAN un-camouflages. It's tail whips

back and forth.

ORENDA (V.O.)
(Mikisuki language)
Imposter. You sre not a leader.

The man turns around, and is frozen in fear.

The Lizard-man slashes the man's neck with its razor sharp
claws!

The man stumbles back and collapses to the floor.

EXT. HOUSE - DAY

Establishing on a wood frame house that looks identical to

several on the same street.

INT. SANI'S HOUSE - BEDROOM - DAY - CONTINUOUS

Pictures cover the wall of a Native American male progressing

through the years. A portrait of a husband and wife wearing
ceremonial clothing sits on the nightstand next to the bed.

The same guy from the pictures NAYATI OSCEOLA, 22, who's hair
is a bun and has a beautiful sleeved arm concentrates on a
BLACK DUDE who's getting a tatt on his shoulder. The tattoo
needle shorts out.

NAYATI
(taps gun)
Come on you piece of shit.

The machine starts again, but a phone buzzes on the

nightstand catches his attention. He picks it up -- new text.

AHANU (TEXT)
Let's go Picasso!

NAYATI
(to black dude)
I gotta jet. Come by tomorrow and
I'll finish it up. Cool?

The black dude nods as he rises to his feet. They give each
other a soulful hand shake and the guy walks to the exit.

Nayati takes the tattoo gun and the rest of his supplies and
slides them into a SATCHEL on the bed.
11.

INT. SANI'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY

Nayati hurries down stairs into a living room that's stuck in

the 1950's. The furniture looks like it's from a garage sale;
nothing matches. However, everything is neat and tidy. On the
other side of the room a Seminole flag engulfs an entire
wall.

An older Native American man with a stern face SANI OSCEOLA

70's sits with cards in his hands at a folding table. In
front of him is his twin brother YAHOLO but he appears more
relaxed; he even sports a Kangol hat.

Between them on the table is an antique Crosley AM/FM radio.

NEWS ANNOUNCER (V.O.)

Last nights numbers were
7,15,22,23,33, and 47....

YAHOLO
Damn it, missed it again.

Sani focuses on the cards in his hands.

SANI
What..?

YAHOLO
The numbers, you didn't hear?

Sani scoffs.

SANI
You'll never win, it's rigged.

Nayati glances over at his overweight friend and wanna-be

comedian, AHANU MINOWAH, 20's who's pointing to his watch.

Nayati checks out his reflection in a mirror. He strokes his

peach-fuzz.

NAYATI
You can't rush greatness.

YAHOLO (O.S.)
Where you guys headed?

NAYATI
Expo center. Eternal Winds is
hosting their annual Got Ink
contest and --
12.

AHANU
AND my boy is 'bout to kick ass and
take names.

Yaholo looks concerned.

YAHOLO
Nayati it is not wise to fight with
people in these times. You never
know who may have a --

Ahanu laughs.

AHANU
Nah unc'. It's nothin' like that.
He's gonna win a tattoo contest.

YAHOLO
Oh I see. I would not expect
anything less considering --

SANI
Considering it only inflates his
ego! This generation knows nothing
of the panther clan traditions.

Nayati scoffs and waves his grandfather's words away.

SANI (CONT'D)
(to Yaholo)
You see, THAT is what I am talking
about. No respect.

YAHOLO
SANI, leave them alone. It's a new
time. Let them have their fun.

Sani scoffs and shoos his brothers words away.

Yaholo sighs.
YAHOLO (CONT'D)
I wonder where he gets his
stubbornness from.

Nayati and Ahanu walk toward the door.

Nayati pats his uncle on the shoulder as he passes him.

EXT. SIDEWALK - DAY

The two guys emerge onto the sidewalk from a chain linked
fence. Nayati face is full of frowns; he's pissed.
13.

AHANU
Bruh, your uncle is cooler than a
bag of ice.

NAYATI
Yeah, wish my parents would've left
me with him.

AHANU
You see that hat? Classic! My man
is a O.S.P.!

Nayati pauses and looks at his friend puzzled.

AHANU CONT'D)
Old-school Seminole Playa!

They both erupt in laughter and start to walk again.

Nayati spots a group of guys in his peripheral next to a

flashy car. All of their pants sag and one of the guys has
his shirt off showing his massive muscles, LEROY JENKINS aka
L.J. 20's.

NAYATI
(mumbles)
Don't look but L.J. and his crew
are clowning across the street.
JUST KEEP WALKING.

Nayati sees the city transit coming in the distance. They

pick up the pace and keep their heads straight ahead.

L.J. (O.S.)
Hey, Navajo tribe!

NAYATI
Don't look.

Nayati hears the group laugh. The two guys look like
professional speed walkers.

EXT. ACROSS THE STREET - DAY - CONTINUOUS

L.J. laughs at the guys walking fast.

L.J.
You heard me lil punk ass Indian!

L.J. and his goons walk toward them in a diagonal.

14.

EXT. SIDEWALK - DAY - CONTINUOUS

Ahanu peeks over and see the gang in pursuit; his eyes widen.

AHANU
OH SHIT, RUN!

Amazingly, Ahanu outruns Nayati. He spots the bus about to

make its stop.

Nayati runs but looks back. His satchel flip flops across his
back with each step.

EXT. BUS STOP - DAY

The number seven bus opens its doors and people pour out.

EXT./INT. BUS - DAY

The bus driver reaches for the door lever --

AHANU (O.S.)
HOL' UP!

Ahanu slides to a stop in front of the door. He runs up the

bus steps.

Nayati follows right behind.

NAYATI
Ok go, GO!

EXT. SIDEWALK - DAY

L.J. watches the brake lights go off and the bus slowly
starts to pull away.

EXT./INT. BUS - DAY - CONTINUOUS

The door closes and Nayati's bag gets hung on the outside. He
jerks the strap but the bag falls on the street.

EXT. SIDEWALK - DAY

L.J. sees the bag and picks it up.

Nayati peers through the back window of the bus.

L.J. dangles the bag tauntingly to Nayati.

15.

L.J.
Got yo' purse lil sissy!

INT. BUS - DAY

Nayati plops down in the seat beside Ahanu.

NAYATI
I hate that guy!

AHANU
Don't even trip bruh, we'll get it
back.

Nayati cuts his eye at Ahanu.

NAYATI
All my gear was in there! And why
are you talking like that, BRUH?
(pause)
Newsflash, you're not black.

Nayati shakes his head and looks out the window.

INT. SANI'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY

Yaholo places a card down on the table.

YAHOLO
Why are you so hard on the boy?

SANI
When we are gone, who will pass on
our traditions?

YAHOLO
You must make our culture more
attractive to him. Let them blend
the old with the new.

Sani scoffs and throws a card down. He then looks at a

picture on the wall of a Native American male decorated in
Seminole war clothing.

SANI
His father would've remembered
where he came from.

YAHOLO
You will lose him also if you don't
change.
16.

YAHOLO (CONT'D)
(pause)
Have you shown him Calligra?

SANI
He is not ready.

Yaholo puts down a card.

YAHOLO
Neither were you, but you learned
Sani. YOU LEARNED.
(pause)
Give him that same grace.

Sani focuses on the cards and grunts.

SANI
Huh, what do you know.

YAHOLO
What do I know..?

Yaholo lays down all his cards.

YAHOLO (CONT'D)
I may not have won the lottery, but
I beat you!
(pause)
Pay up brother.

Yaholo extends his hand for payment.

INT. EXPO CENTER - DAY

Nayati's eyes are zoomed in on a tattoo gun that pierces the

skin of a white person we can't see yet. The rhythm of the
gun goes in slow motion to his eyes.

There is a room full of people around him and rock music

plays in the background; but he remains focused.

AHANU (O.S.)
Bruh... BRUH...

A stubby hand slaps Nayati on the arm; snapping him out his
daze. He turns around and looks at Ahanu.

AHANU (CONT'D)
... Don't we have to find yo' spot?

NAYATI
Yeah, just a sec.
17.

Nayati turns back around.

Ahanu observes as well. His eyes are bucked when he sees -- a

well built African male wearing a tank-top, JOHN COWAYA. The
slave guy from the field; he's still young too and a distinct
white tattoo of a coyote is on his bicep.

AHANU
Damn! That's a big dude.
(pause)
How he holdin' that lil ass gun?

Ahanu checks out the life like portrait of an elderly woman

being drawn on the back of a female volunteer.

Ahanu looks at Nayati.

AHANU CONT'D)
Big boy got skills.

Nayati scoffs.

NAYATI
I would've went with a different
color scheme.

AHANU
(points)
What's wrong with --

Nayati jerks Ahanu by the arm.

NAYATI
-- C'mon I got to set-up.

AHANU
Bruh, you don't got no tools. You
can't compete.

While leading the way through the crowd, Nayati holds up a

tattoo gun.

AHANU CONT'D)
Wait, where you get that?

NAYATI
Where's there a will there's a way.
(pause)
Oh, the guy with the nose ring is
charging you by the hour.

AHANU
Wait, what?
18.

Nayati points to a buff security guard at the door; he has

tattoos and piercings all over.

INT. OTHER SIDE OF ROOM - DAY - CONTINUOUS

Orenda and Sable monitor the guys movements. She pulls Sable
in close.

ORENDA
That is him. No matter what, he
must join us.

Sable nods.

INT. EXPO CENTER - NAYATI'S BOOTH - DAY

Nayati's pen glides over the skin of a volunteer. The vibrant

colors seam to wrap around the girls arm of an American flag
coupled with a Cuban flag.

In the background the news announcer from earlier.

NEWS ANNOUNCER (V.O.)

... A homicide of an elderly chief
last night left police perplexed.
The only witness reports seeing a
person in a lizard costume.
(pause)
If you have any information
regarding this crime, contact your
local authorities. On a lighter
note, Eternal Winds is hosting its
annual Got Ink games.
(pause)
We go to Erica Andrews who's in the
middle of the action, Erica....

The T.V. camera zooms in on an out of place floozy reporter,

ERICA ANDREWS, 25. She flings her hair.

ERICA
What, I'm on?! --
(pause)
-- The talent level here doesn't
cease to amaze the public Carl.
However, one guy that has separated
himself from the tribe with his
crazy designs is...

Erica squints at a name tag close to the table where Nayati

is working.
19.

ERICA (CONT'D)
... Nayadi.

Erica thrust the mic into Nayati's face. He leans back and
looks with scorn at the reporter.

ERICA (CONT'D)
Nayadi what do you think of your
chances of winning this year?

NAYATI
It's NA - YA - TI.

Erica looks confused and he starts to draw again.

NAYATI (CONT'D)
This is easy work. The other guys
got struggle demons.

Erica looks back into the camera.

ERICA
Well there you have it Carl. I'm
Erica Always on it Andrews
reporting --

NAYATI
I bet you are, always on IT.

Bystanders erupt in laughter!

Erica's face turns red and she does the cut signal to the
camera.

The music rises again and we see tons of people walk through
the Expo. But the focus is on Sable, she weaves through the
crowd; observing Nayati's handiwork.

INT. EXPO CENTER - DAY - LATER

The JUDGE of the contest stands on a soapbox holding a mic
and a couple of envelopes. To his right stands Cowaya,
poised.

JUDGE
We have narrowed it down to the
finalist standing before you.
(pause)
The new kid from the westside...

The judge points to his left to Nayati who's smirking and

Ahanu rubbing his shoulders like a championship fighter.
20.

JUDGE (CONT'D (CONT'D)

... Verses the champs protégée,
COWAYA!

The Judge focuses on Orenda who sits in an royal chair.

JUDGE (CONT'D)
Matter of fact, give it up for the
queen, the lady with the gifted
hands, ORENDA HOK'EE!

The crowd claps for Orenda as she stands and waves.

JUDGE (CONT'D)
It was such a tight race, we're
gonna let the you all have the
final say --
(pause)
-- the new kid..?

The judge points to Nayati's work -- the lady with the double
flags looped around her arm. The lady spreads her arms.

A few people clap.

JUDGE (CONT'D)
Or the protégée ...

The judge points to Cowaya's work -- the portrait of a Native

American woman on the back of another woman.

The crowd cheers LOUD!

JUDGE (CONT'D)
And the winner is... Cowaya!

A tatted up teen gives Cowaya a large trophy.

Nayati scoffs and looks at Ahanu.

NAYATI
Teacher's pet.

Ahanu glances over at Orenda.

AHANU
Tell you one thing, I would be her
pet anytime.

Nayati rolls his eyes at his friend.

AHANU CONT'D)
What? Bruh, you know she bad.
21.

JUDGE (O.S.)
Nayati!

Nayati turns to see the judge approach him holding an

envelope.

JUDGE (CONT'D)
You forgot this.

NAYATI
(mumbles)
Great, first place loser's prize.

Nayati smiles and takes the envelope. He turns around and

bumps into Erica Andrews. She shoves the mic into face.
The camera zooms in on him.

ERICA
Victory seemed to slip through your
hands today. Do you have any words
NA - YA - TI?

NAYATI
I thought I had it but --

Erica jerks the mic back.

ERICA
So you weren't on IT today. Awe too
bad, maybe next time.

Erica steps in front of Nayati; blocking him from view.

ERICA (CONT'D)
Well there you have it Carl, a guy
that ALMOST made a name for
himself.

EXT. EXPO CENTER - DAY

Nayati exits the building. Ahanu quickly runs out behind him.

AHANU
Bruh, hol' up!
(pause)
You aight? Where you going?

NAYATI
All that cheating made me hungry.
22.

AHANU
I don't know, it went down pretty
fair to me.

Nayati cuts his eyes at him.

NAYATI
Whose side you on?

AHANU
Bruh, really? You know who I'm
rolling with.

Nayati scoffs and starts to walk again.

Ahanu glances down at the envelope.

AHANU (CONT'D)
What you win?

NAYATI
Probably a gift card.

AHANU
OPEN IT, bruh.

Nayati opens the envelope and pulls out a check.

NAYATI
Two-hundred dollars?!
(pause)
They been having this contest for
TEN years, and this all they can
afford?

The guys look at each other --

NAYATI/AHANU
But it's still TWO-HUNDRED DOLLARS!

They both laugh.

AHANU
We gonna make it rain at the club
tonight!

NAYATI
With two-hundred dollars?

AHANU
Well, we'll make it drizzle.
23.

NAYATI
Are you going to enter the comedy
hour?

AHANU
I'm still working on my lines bruh.

Nayati smirks.

NAYATI
That means you're scared.

AHANU
HEY! Yo' boy ain't scared of --

SABLE
(African accent)
GENTLEMEN ...

Ahanu jumps on top of Nayati!

They both turn to see Sable smiling.

AHANU
Where the heck you come from?!

SABLE
Forgive me, I didn't mean to
frighten you.

Ahanu straightens his clothes; he plays it cool.

AHANU
I'm aight. Just looking out for my
homie though.

Nayati looks at Ahanu and smirks.

AHANU CONT'D)
Hol' up, don't I know you?

SABLE
(to Nayati)
Congratulations, you done well
today.

NAYATI
(looks at Ahanu)
At least somebody was paying
attention.

AHANU
Yeah, I taught him everything he
knows.
24.

SABLE
You're an artist as well?

Nayati scoffs.

NAYATI
(mumbles)
Sandwich artist.

Sable snickers under her breath.

SABLE
I work for the best ink master in
Miami, some would even say the
world, Orenda --

AHANU
I knew you looked familiar! You
were in there with her.

Sable nods in approval. She looks at Nayati.

SABLE
I am here to offer you an
apprenticeship. To sit under the
best.

Ahanu jumps in excitement.

AHANU
Oh snap! Bruh we made it!

NAYATI
Nah, I'm good.
(pause)
I don't do well with... SITTING.
Let's go Ahanu.

Ahanu watches Nayati walk away with his mouth opened. He

Nayati turns to wait.

NAYATI

The guy bends down and picks up his tickets. He stands up and
returns the stare.

L.J. glances down at the shiny badge on the officer's, JAMES

Sani scoffs and grabs a cup on top of a book shelf. He exits

the room.

AHANU
(whispers)
Dang bruh, that heat got him
tripping.

NAYATI
Oh now you understand what I'm
talking about.

SANI (O.S.)
Nayati take the plate on the
counter to Yaholo!

Nayati reaches and grabs the foiled covered plate and walks
toward the door.

Ahanu springs to his feet and cuts off his path -- he looks
at the Chipa in his hand.
29.

AHANU
(points)
Bruh, why you lie?

Nayati smirks.

NAYATI
Technically I didn't lie...

Nayati breaks the bread and tosses half to his friend.

NAYATI (CONT'D)
I said there wasn't anymore in the
FRIDGE.
(pause)
This was on the counter.
Ahanu shakes his head.

AHANU
So what's up, you gonna take that
job or not?

NAYATI
I haven't changed my mind.

AHANU
That's messed up. You tell me I
don't have courage for comedy
night, but you won't jump on a
chance of a lifetime.
(pause)
You scared they gonna blow you away
at the Winds?

Nayati peeks around Ahanu at the mailman approaching his

door. He opens the door.

NAYATI
(to mailman)
I'll take it, thanks.
Nayati skims through the mail, but an envelope catches his
eye. He opens it and reads it.

NAYATI (CONT'D)
(whispers)
What the Hell?

AHANU

Nayati sees flashes of light coming from the basement window.

He creeps closer and bends down --

Yaholo back is turned. He draws on an easel.

Nayati sees a ball being drawn on the pages. Yaholo touches

it and the ball falls to the ground. Toe-Toe grabs the ball.

Nayati's eyes widen!

enough.

Nayati stares at his uncle.

NAYATI
What about you? Am I?

YAHOLO
Calligra is a sacred tradition
Nayati. It is not to be taken
lightly.

Nayati doesn't remove his gaze.

Yaholo sighs.

YAHOLO (CONT'D)
YES. You have much growing to do.

Nayati springs up from his seat and looks back down at

Yaholo.

NAYATI
I expect this from Sani... But not
you uncle.
(pause)
Not you.

Nayati turns toward the door -- Yaholo grabs his wrist.

YAHOLO
WAIT.
(pause)
I'll teach you.

NAYATI
Really?

YAHOLO
But you must not tell Sani!

Nayati nods.

YAHOLO (CONT'D)

NAYATI
What?!
33.

AHANU
Uh, I mean somebody's having my
baby tonight.

Nayati smiles and shakes his head -- He turns to his left and
is stunned when he beholds a Native American female with long
flowing hair, TENECA CUMPAH (19) seated at the bar. He goes
on the prowl.

Ahanu doesn't notices him leave.

AHANU (CONT'D)

NAYATI (CONT'D)
Let me buy you a drink.

TENECA
I don't drink.
NAYATI
Let's dance.

TENECA
I'll pass.

NAYATI
Let me get this straight, you come
to a club looking smoking hot, not
drinking. OR dancing... I don't get
it.
34.

TENECA
That's not why I'm here.

NAYATI
Then why..?

Teneca turns toward him and stares in his eyes --

Nayati continues to kiss and fondle her.

TENECA (CONT'D)
I said, NO!

She pushes him away -- his head slams against the window.

NAYATI
Dang!

Teneca re-snaps her bra.

NAYATI (CONT'D)
(mumbles)
Freaking tease.
TENECA
What did you call me?!

Nayati is silent, he adjusts his crotch.

TENECA (CONT'D)
That's what I thought, Machakw.

NAYATI
What did you call me?

Teneca gets right into his face.

35.

TENECA
MACHAKW, it means HORNY, TOAD. Now
what?

They lock eyes for a second then -- erupt in laughter!

TENECA (CONT'D)
When we're married the toad can get
as much as he wants.

Nayati smirks and nods.

TENECA (CONT'D)
How the contest go?

NAYATI
I got second.

Teneca smacks him on the arm.

He rubs it.

TENECA
No way! Get outta here! Why you
didn't tell me?

Nayati looks down at her cleavage.

She smiles and shakes her head.

TENECA (CONT'D)
Nevermind. So what's next?

NAYATI
I got offered a spot at Eternal
Winds.

She smacks his arm again!

TENECA
Whoa, that's so exciting!
(pause)
But you don't look excited.

NAYATI
It's for an apprentice. They want
ME to be an apprentice.
(pause)
Baby I'm a VET.

TENECA
You gotta start somewhere babe.
Plus we can start saving for the
wedding.

TENECA (CONT'D)
(pause)

down his face. He frantically rubs his arm where the tattoo
is.

A soft female voice chants.

ORENDA (V.O.)
(Mikisuki language)
Awake mighty one, awake.

The tattoo begins to glow green.

ORENDA (V.O.)
I command you to awake.

Levi raises up and wipes his face. He reaches over and takes
a sip of a Slurpee next to the bed.

LEVI
I have to move out of this
hellhole.

He lies back down and turn over; there's silence -- Seconds

later his body begins to shake violently!

The tattoo glows brighter!

ORENDA (V.O.)
(voice echoes)
Awake from your slumber oh great
one!

Levi skin scales over, he screams in agony and rolls onto the
floor.
37.

Silence fills the room -- Deep hissing follows. We see razor-

sharp nails grab the edge of the bed. A serpent-like tail
knocks over the lamp.

ORENDA (V.O.)
Mighty Tiyohali, you have another
task. Go... GO AND DO MY WILL!

The lizard-like creature jumps out the window, camouflages

with its surroundings, and disappears.

starts yapping!

Yaholo cuts his eye at the dog then back at the T.V.

YAHOLO
No, you've already been out. Sit
down.

Toe-Toe sprints over to the window , and continues to bark.

Yaholo slowly stands up.

YAHOLO (CONT'D)
Toe-Toe, what's gotten into you?

YAHOLO
Alright, do your business.

The dog looks up at his master; puzzled.

38.

YAHOLO (CONT'D)
You brought papa out here for
nothing?
(pause)
Bad dog.

While Yaholo scolds the dog, a giant tail creeps out of the
tree behind him.

Toe-Toe barks again frantically!

YAHOLO (CONT'D)
What?! Crazy dog. What do you want?

Yaholo bends down for the dog, but the tail snags him; and
coils around his throat -- it lifts him high in the branches.
Yaholo struggles for freedom! His eyes can only see green
leaves, but then -- the Lizard-man colors change; the camo
disappears.

Yaholo's eyes widen.

The Lizard-man reels him in close, and begins to speak...

ORENDA (V.O.)
You call yourself a guide to the
blind? You do not deserve to be a
leader.

The tail tightens around Yaholo's neck. His legs begins to

quiver -- then they go limp.

Yaholo's lifeless body is dropped to the ground.

Toe-Toe runs over and licks the dead man's face.

Asphyxiation...

Startled, James swerves around and sees a FEMALE DETECTIVE.

He stands.

JAMES
Who would want to kill an old man?
(pause)
This city is getting ridiculous.

FEMALE DETECTIVE
Crazier by the minute.

The small dog runs over to James' leg. He bends down.

The female detective walks away.

JAMES
Hello little fella.

He looks at the tags and smiles; it says: Toe-Toe.

JAMES (CONT'D)
Now isn't that rich.

While looking at the tags; in the corner of his eye, James

catches a glance of an odd pattern around Yaholo's neck.

James stares up at the tree -- then looks at the detective

some distance away.

JAMES (CONT'D)
Detective, where's the rope the he
was hung from?

FEMALE DETECTIVE
There wasn't one.

James takes out his phone and snaps a picture of the pattern.

Ahanu bursts into laughter.

NAYATI
Oh you got jokes, huh. You came
looking for me.
(pause)
Ahanu, let's bounce.

Nayati turns to leave, but Orenda grabs his hand.

41.

ORENDA
You must learn to control your
emotions.

Nayati looks at their conjoined hands; his eyes widen.

ORENDA (CONT'D)
Let me show you around. I think you
may like it here.

Orenda leads him through the shop.

Nayati winks at Ahanu.

AHANU

NAYATI
What about my girl..?

Nayati voice trembles.

NAYATI (CONT'D)
TENECA, what... I thought... Did
you get off early?

TENECA
Looks like I got off just in time.

Orenda observes Teneca's mood and steps in between the

couple; blocking Teneca's view.
ORENDA
I've arranged the perfect spot
where you will be working.

Teneca rolls her neck.

TENECA
(sarcastically)
Oh no she didn't.

Teneca steps forward but Ahanu grabs her hand.

AHANU
(whispers)
Let her make it sis.

Orenda walks Nayati to the area where Cowaya is performing

his work.

ORENDA
Sable didn't think you would come,
but I knew you couldn't resist.

Tauntingly, Orenda glances back at Teneca. She then rubs his

arm.

Teneca comes unglued, and marches toward them! She takes off
her ear rings in the process.

TENECA
Oh, I'll show her some resistance.

Ahanu scurries in front of Teneca.

AHANU
NAYATI, don't you think we ought to
be heading to that thing...

NAYATI
What do you mean?!

TENECA
What do I mean? I know a hoe, when
I see a hoe.
AHANU
Technically we don't know if she's--

Teneca stares at Ahanu in the rear-view mirror.

TENECA
Was I talking to you?

Ahanu sees her glare. He locks his mouth and throws away the
key.

Teneca focuses on Nayati.

44.

TENECA (CONT'D)
You heard what I said.

NAYATI
C'mon babe, you can't be serious...

Teneca looks at him and rolls her eyes; she's dead serious.

NAYATI (CONT'D)

cougar, when I got a hot kitty at
home?

Nayati rubs her thigh.

NAYATI (CONT'D)
This is a major career move babe.
I'll be the owner of that joint
before the year is done.
(pause)
After that, I'll fire the chick.

Ahanu reaches forward and gives his friend some dap. He

catches Teneca eyeing him in the mirror.

Ahanu cowers down in the backseat.

NAYATI (CONT'D)
C'mon babe, I need this.
(pause)
I'll do anything you want me to do.

TENECA
Anything..?

NAYATI
WHATEVER you want.

Teneca glances into the rear-view mirror and smirks.

Let me take care of that old
bastard.

Orenda turns but her face is still hidden behind a shadow.

49.

ORENDA
Do not underestimate him. Calian is
a formidable enemy. His lineage is
from warriors. I've prepared his
demise.
(pause)
Get the girl.

Cowaya goes to a closet and opens the door -- A teenage girl

is bound and gagged on the floor. She struggles and yells
through the cloth.

Cowaya snatches her up and brings her to Orenda.

Orenda creeps out the shadows. Her face has wrinkles all over
it. She reaches out her shriveled hand, and places it over
the teens face.

ORENDA (CONT'D)
(Mikisuki language)
Life return unto me.

A blue spiral flame emanates from Orenda's hand over the

teens mouth. It twirls and spins.

Orenda ages backwards and the teen grows older, till she
withers.

Orenda breathes in fresh life while the teen collapses to dry

bones. She turns back to Cowaya.

ORENDA (CONT'D)
After Calian is out of the way. I
will convince the boy to bring me
the amulet. His hormones are in
overdrive.

Orenda looks down at the bag of bones.

INT. THE CLUB - COMEDY HOUR - NIGHT

Ahanu stands center stage in front of a mic. He is blinded by
a light as he tries to look at the audience.

AHANU
Is this on?

Ahanu touches the mic; it squeaks. He wipes sweat from his

brow.
50.

AHANU CONT'D)
Hey everybody out there. Uh, I'm
gonna say a few jokes. Is that
cool..?

The audience is silent.

Ahanu slips out a piece of paper from his back pocket.

AHANU CONT'D) (CONT'D)

Ok, ok, this a good one --
(pause)
-- Did you hear they took down the
sign in the village in Texas? It
said, one of our town idiots is
missing. Guess where they found
him..?
(pause)
IN THE WHITE HOUSE. Get it, in the
White House?

There is a second of silence, then people start booing and

cussing at him.

Ahanu mopes off the stage.

EXT. FOOD SPOT - NIGHT

James places some food down on the ground in front of Toe-

Toe. The dog nudges James out the way trying to get to the
food.

James sits at a table where before him is a steamy Cuban

dish. He looks back a the dog.

JAMES
Eat up boy, that's Miami's finest.

James sees a lizard slither past the dog's food. He stomps at

the creature.
JAMES (CONT'D)
Get out of here!

In no hurry, the lizard crawls to its destination.

Something catches James' eye -- He takes a pair of glasses

out his pocket and picks up the lizard. He sees a very
familiar pattern.

JAMES (CONT'D)
Well I be damn. Would you look at
that.
51.

James puts the creature down and contemplates for a second.

INT. CALIAN'S HOUSE - KITCHEN - NIGHT

CALIAN prepares a dish on the stove, suddenly, the lights go

out! He hears footsteps on the roof.

Calian glances in the living room at his spear in the corner.

EXT. NEIGHBOR'S HOUSE - PORCH - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS

A clamorous BLACK WOMAN (30's) talks on the phone. She sees

Calian's lights go off from across the street.

BLACK WOMAN
Girl he done forgot to pay his
bill. I told him, if we got
together I'd handle all that.
(pause)
Girl yeah, you know them Indians
got money!

She sees something jump off the roof.

BLACK WOMAN (CONT'D)

Sherrie hold on -- what in the
world?!

She sees the Lizard-man and his tail whip back and forth.
Then its colors camouflages with the house.

Her eyes buck!

BLACK WOMAN (CONT'D)

Oh Lord! GIRL I GOTTA CALL YOU
BACK.

She hangs up and dials: 911 --

EXT./INT. JAMES' CAR - NIGHT

James hears the 911 call come across his radio.

BLACK WOMAN (V.O.)

Yeah I think I saw a tail too!

DISPATCHER (V.O.)
A tail ma'am? Are you sure it
wasn't a --
52.

BLACK WOMAN (V.O.)

I know a tail when I see one! See,
this is why nobody likes messin'
with ya'll!

DISPATCHER (V.O.)
Sorry ma'am, we will have someone
over there.

James looks at ToeToe.

JAMES
Well boy, maybe I'm not going
crazy.

EXT. JAMES' CAR - NIGHT

The un-marked car makes a U-turn and speeds down the street.

EXT./INT. CALIAN'S HOUSE - WINDOW - NIGHT

The Lizard-man slithers through an open window. It peers

through the darkness.

A war cry rings out!

CALIAN
(Mikisuki language)
Die you evil beast!

Calian jabs the spear at the creature, but it dips out of

harms way. It scrambles to an open area of the house --

INT. CALIAN'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS

The Lizard-man spots a vase on a shelf in the living room. It

snags the vase with its tail and slings it at Calian!

Calian thrusts his spear through the vase, it shatters into

tiny pieces! He twirls the spear and resets himself.

EXT. CALIAN'S HOUSE - GATE - NIGHT

The black woman opens the gate. She hears racket on the
inside of the house.

BLACK WOMAN
Calian you aight?! CALIAN....
53.

She presses forward but the clashing of glass makes her

pause.

INT. CALIAN'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

The creature creeps in closer to Calian, but is met by the

twirling spear to the head. The creature's tail catches the
spear and slings it across the room.

The Lizard-man steps in closer. The long tail whips back and
forth.

Calian tries a fake move and goes for the spear, but the
creature doesn't take the bait. The tail latches around the
old man's neck and reels him in closer.

The Lizard-man is eyeball to eyeball with Calian; sticky

saliva drips from its mouth.

EXT. JAMES' CAR - NIGHT

James pulls up in front of the house and sees the black woman
inside the gate. He opens the glove box and pulls out his
gun.

INT. CALIAN'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

Calian kicks and squirms. He slides his hand into a pouch on

his belt, and pulls out a fist full of red powder -- He
throws it into the air!

CALIAN
(Mikisuki language)
FIRE!

The powder transforms into a ball of fire and blinds the

creature; it loosens its grip on the old man. Calian drops to
the floor. He spots the spear and does a rolling flip over to
it.

EXT. GATE - NIGHT

JAMES
Ma'am are you the one who made the
call?

The woman spins around with wide eyes.

54.

BLACK WOMAN
(points)
MY FRIEND NEEDS HELP IN THERE!

JAMES
Stay here, backup is on the way.

James eases up the porch with his gun drawn.

Toe-Toe barks incessantly from the car!

INT. CALIAN'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

The Lizard-man regains its sight and turns toward Calian. It

lunges at him, but is stabbed to the chest! Calian relaxes.
However, the creature deals one final death blow before they
both crash to the ground.

The creature lies on the floor. It slowly changes back to

Levi.

Calian is on the ground a few feet away.

EXT./INT. CALIAN'S HOUSE - DOORWAY - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS

James kicks the door in with his gun drawn -- He sees Calian
and Levi on the floor.

Calian's arm twitches.

James hurries over to him --

INT. CALIAN'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

James kneels down and feels for a pulse.

CALIAN
(whisper)
Hok'ee is here...

JAMES
What? Hockey?

CALIAN
She is coming for us.

JAMES
Who? Who's coming?

James gets closer to the Calian, but the old man faints.
55.

INT. CALIAN'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT - LATER

Several officers and investigators comb the room for clues.

James studies the body of Levi. The bright green Chameleon

attracts his attention. He takes out a pen and probes the
tattoo gently. The mysterious green lizard fades away.
Startled, James looks around the room at the officers for
confirmation of what he saw.

EXT. CALIAN'S HOUSE - NIGHT

Two EMT's roll Calian out the house on a gurney.

The black woman sees Calian as she talks to a POLICE OFFICER.

BLACK WOMAN
Awe nah, Calian! Lord why you have
to take him!

POLICE OFFICER
Ma'am, just a few more questions...

The officer steps in front of the black woman. He smirks.

POLICE OFFICER (CONT'D)

Just so I have this correct. You
said it was a lizard man?

The woman squints her eyes and curls her lips in anger at the
cop.

BLACK WOMAN
(hand on hip)
You think I'm crazy huh? I know
what I saw.

James walks outside. He sees the woman waving her hand

dismissively in the officer's face.
BLACK WOMAN (CONT'D)
YOU GOT ONE MO' TIME TO ACT LIKE
I'M TRIPPIN' AND ALL HELL GONNA
BREAK --

JAMES (O.S.)
Officer!

They both turn and see James flashing a shiny badge.

56.

JAMES (CONT'D)
I'll take it from here --
(pause)
-- Ma'am do you mind..?

James escorts the woman to a more secluded area. He looks

around.

JAMES (CONT'D)
(whispers)
Listen, the lizard thing, I believe
you. But I'm gonna have to find out
more about what's going on.

He takes out a card from his pocket and hands it to the

woman,
JAMES (CONT'D)
If you see or hear anything else,
you call me ok?

BLACK WOMAN
Ok -- HEY, that Winema lady might
know something.

JAMES
Winema?

BLACK WOMAN
She's like their preacher or
something.

JAMES
Thanks, I'll check into it.

James walks to his car. He glances back at Calian. A sheet is

spread over his face.

EXT. SWAMP - BURIAL GROUNDS - DAY

Yaholo's face looks peaceful at rest. Backing away, his body
is secured in what appears to be a coffin crafted like a tree
stump.

In front of the coffin is Winema wearing a black cassock.

WINEMA
We bid farewell to a great man, a
chief, a sage of the community, we
were blessed by the Great Spirit
with presence, and we are eternally
grateful.
57.

A few Native American people are dressed in tribal garments;

walk forward to the edge of the swamp and throw a pipe, the
Kangol hat, and other things that belong to Yaholo in it.

Nayati escorts Sani to the edge of the swamp.

Sani holds a deck of cards in his hands. One tear falls on

the Ace of Spades.

SANI
I already miss you greatly dear
brother. May the ancestors guide
you to a winning hand for eternity.

Sani tosses the deck into the swamp.

Nayati guides his grandfather back to the assembly.

Four large Native American men take the coffin and place it
into the swamp. They watch it float away.

INT. SANI'S HOUSE - BEDROOM - DAY

Sani sits in a chair and stares out the window.

Nayati enters the room with a tray of food. He puts it on the

dresser.

NAYATI
You hungry?

Sani continues to stare out the window.

SANI
I knew this day would come. We
could hide for only so long.

NAYATI
Huh? What are you talking about, so
you know who did this? We gotta
tell the cops.

Sani turns around and rises to his feet.

SANI
I have much to show you. Maybe
there's still time.

Sani hurries to the exit.

Nayati watches him; confused.

58.

SANI (O.S.) (CONT'D)

Come!

INT. SANI'S HOUSE - BASEMENT - DAY

Nayati creeps down the stairs -- He sees Sani next to a

painted cement wall. In the corner, by the wall, a shelf with
wooden bowls neatly arranged are on top of it.

Sani waves Nayati over.

SANI
Come, come.

INT. SANI'S HOUSE - THE WALL - DAY - CONTINUOUS

Nayati looks at the wall; it has pictures of everything

associated with the Seminole tribe. A picture of a man and
woman in ceremonial apparel catches Nayati's eye.

NAYATI
(touches wall)
I miss them so much.

SANI (O.S.)
His spirit lives forever.

Nayati rolls his eyes. He eyeballs his grandfather.

NAYATI
What good is that to me? He's gone,
mama is gone, and now Yaholo.
(pause)
Forever is an illusion.

Nayati drops his head and a tear falls to the ground.

Sani reaches for a hollow bone and bowl on the shelf. He dips
the bone in the bowl, then touches the picture on the wall.
The picture of his father begins to move.

Nayati eyes widen!

NAYATI (CONT'D)
WHAT? HOW? Papa Denali?

Nayati touches his father. Then his mother begins to move

also. Nayati smiles and looks back at Sani.

NAYATI (CONT'D)
What is this?
59.

SANI
We can see them but they can't see
us. But they feel us. Forever is
real Nayati.

Nayati father wraps his arm around his mother and they blow
him a kiss.

Nayati turns to his grandfather.

NAYATI
I saw Yaholo doing this before he
died. He was going to teach me.

Sani places his hand on his grandson's shoulder.

SANI
I will teach you now. It is my duty
to pass this on. We have much work
to do.

Nayati looks back at the wall and his parents wave and stop
moving. He rubs his hand across the wall.

INT. SANI'S HOUSE - THE WALL - DAY - LATER

SANI
First lesson of Calligra, you must
believe what you paint into
existence. If your heart is not
there, the Great Spirit will know.

Sani dips the bone into a bowl.

SANI (CONT'D)
Whatever you touch or draw will
come to life. Except for people. We
do not possess the power to give
life. Only He does --
Sani points to the sky. He then taps a stick in the corner
with a snake drawn on it. The stick collapses to a snake on
the ground. It hisses and strikes.

Nayati jumps back!

SANI (CONT'D)
Grab it by the tail.

Nayati shakes his head.

Sani smiles. He reaches down and grabs the snake by the tail.
The snake turns back into a stick.
60.

SANI (CONT'D)
The power is yours Nayati. It has
been granted to us.
(pause)
You must believe in ancient way. It
is a part of you.

EXT. SANI'S HOUSE - DAY

A used pickup truck with tinted windows pulls up in front of

the house. It blares rap music from its subpar stereo system.
It honks!

INT. SANI'S HOUSE - THE WALL - DAY - CONTINUOUS

Nayati and Sani glance up at the basement door.

EXT. SANI'S HOUSE - PORCH - DAY

Nayati peeks out the door at the truck. The truck revs its
engine a few times.

Sani comes up behind Nayati.

SANI
Who is that?

Nayati shrugs.

NAYATI
Somebody tripping. Stay here I'll
check.

Nayati walks down the steps to the gate.

The passenger's window slides down on the truck...

EXT. SANI'S HOUSE - THE GATE - DAY - CONTINUOUS

Nayati peers into the cab -- He finally sees a familiar set

of eyes.

Ahanu laughs loudly from the truck!

AHANU
Who you thought I was, L.J.?!

Nayati body relaxes. He looks back at Sani.

61.

NAYATI
It's too shorty --
(pause)
-- I'll be back Sani.

EXT. SANI'S HOUSE - PORCH - DAY

Sani waves and closes the door.

EXT./INT. AHANU'S TRUCK - DAY

Debris falls from the ceiling onto Nayati's lap.

NAYATI
I bet you got a good deal on this.

AHANU
Yeah, it's pretty tight huh. Check
out the sound system.

Ahanu turns up the volume. The bass makes the truck rattle
and shake.

NAYATI
DUDE PLEASE!

Nayati turns the volume down.

NAYATI (CONT'D)
I thought your truck was gonna
break. Will this thing make it over
to Teneca's?

AHANU
Why you got to be hatin' on my
ride. Yeah it will make it over
there!

Ahanu slides open his ash tray.

AHANU CONT'D)
Put some bread on the trip. The red
carpet ain't free.

Nayati scoffs.

NAYATI
The Red Carpet? That's the best you
can come up with?
62.

INT. WINEMA'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY

James stands in the living room of a shotgun style house.

It's neat and tidy despite its meager appearance. He looks at
pictures and paintings of tribal leaders on the wall.

The whistle from a tea kettle catches his attention.

JAMES
Calian's neighbor said you were
some kind of leader?

Winema enters the room holding an old silver tray with two
cups of tea on it. She puts it down on a table and hands a
cup to James.

They both sit down.

WINEMA
I am a servant of the people; like
you.

James takes a sip of the tea, he raises his eyebrows in

satisfaction; then he puts the cup down and takes out a
notepad.

JAMES
She also mentioned seeing something
unusual hanging around outside of
his house that night.

WINEMA
Mr. London, do you believe in the
supernatural?

JAMES
Call me old fashion, but I believe
in what I can see.

Winema smiles, as James eagerly waits for something to jot

down.

WINEMA
Something tells me that even if you
could see it, your heart has chosen
not to accept it.

JAMES
Come to think about it, I do
remember seeing something weird
that night.
(pause)
63.

JAMES (CONT'D)
There was a beautiful tattoo on the
assailant's arm, but as I got
closer for a better look, it just
vanished.

Unsettled by James description, Winema moves to the edge of

her seat.

WINEMA
Could it be her?

JAMES
Who are you talking about, that
Hockey lady?

She quickly stares at James.

WINEMA
How do you know that name?

JAMES
The old man mentioned it just
before he blanked out. Did she have
something to do with this?

WINEMA
Hok'ee, it means the abandon.
Originally her name was Orenda
LaKota, which translate to friend.
But she has sworn a vow to kill the
chiefs that broke covenant with the
land.

James jots down notes on the pad.

JAMES
So she's angry for losing her land.
Now we're getting somewhere.

WINEMA
Some say that she never got revenge
on them, so her ghost would roam
the land looking for their
descendants.

James stops writing and smirks.

JAMES
Wait a minute, did you say ghost?
You don't believe in GHOST do you?
64.

WINEMA
It's not what I believe Mr. London,
(pause)
My eyes are open to the truth.

Winema rises to her feet and puts James' cup on the tray.

WINEMA (CONT'D)
In our culture, a vow is sacred.

James shakes his head and rises to his feet.

Winema looks at him with pity. She touches her heart.

WINEMA (CONT'D)
Pahana, everything you don't see
with your eyes.

James looks confused.

JAMES
Pahana?

WINEMA
It means lost white brother.

EXT. SANI'S HOUSE - BACKYARD - DAY

Sani steps out the door and looks at his small garden. He has
a basket in his hand.

NEWS ANNOUNCER (V.O.)

The police are still looking for
the death of two older men. Both
are of high status of the Seminole
tribe.

EXT. SANI'S HOUSE - GARDEN - DAY

Sani kneels down and looks at a dried out tomato. He strolls

Sani watches it fade away.

his arm.

WINEMA
Nayati, ISTONKO....

EXT./INT. AHANU'S TRUCK - DAY- CONTINUOUS

NAYATI
Oh, what's up Winema! I'm come by
for --

EXT. WINEMA'S HOUSE - PORCH - DAY - CONTINUOUS

Teneca bursts out the door!

TENECA
I'll be back mama!
(pause)
Love you!

Winema watches Teneca run to the truck.

WINEMA
Be careful!
66.

EXT. WINEMA'S HOUSE - THE CURB - DAY - CONTINUOUS

Nayati steps out the truck to let Teneca in; he observes

James and mumbles to Teneca.

NAYATI
Who is that?

TENECA
Tell you in a sec.
(pause)
Ahanu I love it, let's make a few
blocks.

EXT. WINEMA'S HOUSE - PORCH - DAY

Like a true detective, James studies the license plate of the

truck as it pulls away.

EXT.INT. JAMES' CAR - DAY - LATER

The car door is open and James has a leg hanging out of it.
He has the notepad in hand and a cell phone to his ear.

JAMES
Paula, run a check on a Orenda
HOK'EE would ya...
(pause)
Nothing? Ok, run a check on all the
tattoo shops in town....

James shuts the door and cranks the car.

EXT./INT. AHANU'S TRUCK - DAY

The truck pulls back in front of Winema's house.

NAYATI
Two dead guys in a matter of a
couple of days? Somethings up.
(pause)
We got to do something.

TENECA
That's the cops job babe. Let them
handle it.

Nayati opens the door for Teneca to get out.

Teneca stares into Nayati's eyes.

67.

TENECA (CONT'D)
You're coming to the Green Corn
festival to watch me dance tonight?

Nayati eyes widen.

NAYATI
THAT'S TONIGHT? -- I'm just
kidding, We'll be there.

She pecks him on the lips.

Nayati gets back in and watches her go in the house. He turns

to his friend.

NAYATI (CONT'D)
I can't let this slide. Yaholo is
not going out like that.
(pause)
I'm going to work to show my face,
then we got to get my bag back from
L.J.

AHANU
(Dismissively)
Bruh you trippin', L.J.?

NAYATI
Trust me on this one. I got
something for him tonight.

INT. WINEMA'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY

Teneca enters the house; there is a note on the coffee table.

She picks it up --

WINEMA (V.O.)
I am at the festival getting
everything prepared. If you get
hungary there is Taal-Holeke on the
stove.

Teneca tosses the note down and hurries upstairs.

INT. WINEMA'S HOUSE - KITCHEN - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS

A mysterious male shadow appears next to the refrigerator.

68.

INT. ETERNAL WINDS STUDIO - NIGHT

The steady hum of a Stigma rotary tattoo gun breaks the

silence in the room. Orenda weaves a intricate design on a
person in the chair that appears to be in a trance.

Nayati sweeps the floor at a distance from them. He glances

over at her curves.

Orenda knows that he is watching; she arches her back

seductively on the stool.

ORENDA
Nayati, come over here. I want to
give you your first lesson...

He walks over and stands over her shoulder.

ORENDA (CONT'D)
See how I'm blending the colors?

Nayati gazes at Orenda.

NAYATI
Huh -- Oh, yeah. That's pretty
cool.

ORENDA
Get closer, I want you to catch all
of this.

INT. WINEMA'S HOUSE - BEDROOM - NIGHT

Teneca enters her room wearing a bathrobe. She picks up a

pair of jeans and slides them on in a hurry. Looking at a
clock it says: 8:05.

A beautiful pastel color dress is spread across the bed.

A gust of wind blows the curtains from an open window.

Teneca observes herself in a mirror on the dresser. She combs
her hair, but then sees in the mirror's reflection a crow on
the window ledge.

INT. ETERNAL WINDS STUDIO - NIGHT

Orenda finishes the tattoo. The woman snaps out of her sleep.
She pays Orenda and exits the building.

Orenda locks the door -- She glances back at Nayati.

69.

Nayati puts the broom in the closet. He turns around and is

staring Orenda in the eyes.

ORENDA
Did you enjoy your lesson?

NAYATI
Most definitely, you got crazy
skills.

ORENDA
I can teach you all kinds of things
if you let me.

She backs him against a wall. He gulps.

ORENDA (CONT'D)
Would you like a private lesson?

NAYATI
Uh... My girl, my girl is
performing tonight.

(pause)
-- Hey, you're the kid from
earlier. What are you --

Excuse me.

Nayati nudges past James and hurries down the sidewalk.

ORENDA (O.S.)
How may I help you?

James looks back at Orenda, puzzled.

71.

EXT. SIDEWALK - NIGHT

Nayati hurries down the sidewalk holding a phone.

INTERCUT:

NAYATI
I thought she was with you.

WINEMA
This is not like her. I'm going to

Ok, I'll call you if I hear
anything.
(pause)
Don't worry Winema, the great
Spirit has our back.

INT. ETERNAL WINDS STUDIO - NIGHT

James eyes inspects the shop.

JAMES
Nice place. How long have you been
here?

ORENDA
Seems like an eternity. Listen, I
have an errand to run. You can be
the first on my list tomorrow.

JAMES
Oh no, I'm too old for one of
those. I'm investigating a
homicide, well actually two
homicides.
(pause)
They were Native American men.
72.

ORENDA
I see. Since I'm Native American,
you figured you'd start with me.
I'm sorry I won't be any help to
you.

James smirks.

JAMES
It's nothing like that. Sorry for
the inconvenience. If you hear
anything could you give me a call?

James takes a card out his wallet and hands it to her.

Orenda glances at the card then eyeballs him.

ORENDA
No problem. If you ever change your
mind, your tatt will be on the
house.

James smiles uncomfortably and walks to his car.

EXT./INT. JAMES' CAR - NIGHT

James opens the car door and gets inside. He watches Orenda
lock up. Toe-Toe barks non-stop.

JAMES
Yeah boy, she gives me the creeps
too.

EXT. SIDEWALK - NIGHT

up pulls up in front of him.

Nayati jumps up and goes to the truck and opens the door --

NAYATI
We got to find Teneca bro! I have
to make a stop first.

Nayati slams the door and the truck pulls off in a cloud of
smoke.

Sani lays in bed watching T.V.

73.

EXT. SANI'S HOUSE - NIGHT

Orenda approaches the gate to the house. She looks up to see

a light on in the bedroom.

EXT. SANI'S HOUSE - FRONT DOOR - NIGHT

Orenda slides a hollow bone out her pocket. She draws a

circle around the door knob and pushes it through --

INT. SANI'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS

The knob drops to the ground, and the door creeks open.

INT. SANI'S HOUSE - BEDROOM - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS

The old man's ears twitch. He raises up out of bed; alert.

NAYATI (O.S.)
I'm home grandpa.

SANI
Come on up. I've been waiting on
you.

EXT./INT. AHANU'S TRUCK - NIGHT

Nayati and Ahanu stare at a garage with the door let up. A
few late model cars with flashy rims are parked in front of a
building.

Ahanu looks at Nayati.

AHANU
You just gonna walk up in there ask
for the bag?

Nayati stares at the guys horse playing in the garage.

NAYATI
I got a few tricks up my sleeves.

AHANU
What?!

NAYATI
Just c'mon.
74.

EXT./INT. GARAGE - NIGHT

Nayati glares into a window at L.J. and his crew. He cracks

it open.

AHANU
What you doing bruh?

Nayati sees a pile of sticks next to the building. He walks

over and grabs a stack.

NAYATI
Help me out.

AHANU
I don't get it. You bringing a
thousand sticks to a gun fight?
(pause)
Bruh, you know they packing.

They drop the sticks inside the window; then Nayati shimmies
through the crack.

Ahanu watches him take a pouch and a bone out his pocket.

Nayati dips the bone in the pouch; it fills with liquid. He

then touches the sticks. Suddenly, the pile of sticks
transforms into a brood of vipers right before Ahanu's eyes.

AHANU (CONT'D)
(whispers)
What in the Harry Potter sorcery
stone?!

Nayati looks back at him and smiles.

NAYATI
Watch this...

The snakes stand at attention looking at Nayati.

NAYATI (CONT'D)
(whispers)
Ok, go!

The snakes just stare at him.

NAYATI (CONT'D)
(whispers)
Do your thing!

They all hover and monitor him; waiting.

One of the GOONS sees Nayati in his peripheral.

75.

INT. GARAGE - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS

GOON
Say homie, is that sissy boy in the
corner?

L.J.
Yeah right.

L.J. glances back behind the cars. His eyes narrow in on

Nayati.

L.J. (CONT'D)
Ain't this is ah bitch. Sissy boy
gon' roll up in MY spot? Let's go
handle this nigga.
L.J. leads his pack to their prey.

L.J. (CONT'D)
I gotta give it to you sissy boy,
you got balls comin' up in here!

In panic, Ahanu focuses on the coming danger.

AHANU
Say bruh, whatever your plan is
betta make it fast, cause I'm bout
to be out!

Nayati eyes shift back and forth. He thinks back his

grandfather's words.

SANI (V.O.)
(echoes)
You have to believe.

NAYATI
(Mikisuki language)
I command you to attack!
Nayati points to the gang and the snakes swerve around
towards L.J.

L.J. and his crew turn the corner unaware of the brood until
they hear -- the deafening sound of hissing! They look down
at the vipers moving toward them!

GOON
BRUH, this is some crazy VooDoo
shit!

The gang is frozen in their tracks. One by one they begin to

peel off in a cloud of smoke.
76.

Nayati chest is swelled. He looks back at his friend.

NAYATI
Still wanna bail out?

AHANU
(points)
Is that the bag on the table?

Nayati eyes lock on the bag. He smiles.

The guys run over to the table and Nayati picks up the bag.
He opens it and pulls out an elaborate woven bracelet made by
his mother.

NAYATI
Now I have my parents spirit with
me.

AHANU
Let's go get yo' girl.

INT. ETERNAL WINDS STUDIO - BACK ROOM - NIGHT

The lock clicks on the door then; it turns -- James creeps in

the door holding a flashlight. He observes the chair in the
middle of the room, the shelf with the wooden bowls on top.

Shining the light around the room during his investigation he

spots a closed closet.

INT. BACK ROOM - CLOSET - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS

James opens the door and he covers his nose from the smell,
he flashes his light and sees a bunch of bones in the corner
of the closet.

The sound of the door opens in the lobby.

James flips off the flashlight and hides in a corner. His gun
is cocked next to his side.

SABLE (O.S.)
We have no time to waste. Prepare
the sacrifice.

James peeks around the corner into the lobby. He sees Sable
with a phone in her hand and searching for something behind
the counter.
77.

SABLE (CONT'D)
I can not find my --
(pause)
-- I found it!

Sable pulls out a necklace from the drawer. She places it

around her neck.

SABLE (CONT'D)
Soon the amulet will be mine again.
Eternal life awaits us.

James looks puzzled.

JAMES
(whispers)
Eternal life? What the Hell?

INT. SANI'S HOUSE - BEDROOM - NIGHT

Orenda stands in the doorway of a dark room holding a two

glowing dagger in her hand.

ORENDA
(Nayati's voice)
Grandpa I can't see you.

She then sees a set of glowing hatchets. Sani twirls them

with skill as he sets up in a combat stance.

SANI (O.S.)
I've never been GRANDPA.
(pause)
You can't use old tricks on me, you
old witch.

Orenda smirks but immediately ducks one of the twirling

hatchets! She does a flip into the room.

The weapon of war loops back around to Sani.

ORENDA
Not bad. A formidable foe indeed.

Sani crouches and holds both glowing hatchets. He leaps

toward Orenda and swings with rapid rage. Their weapons
bounce off each other displaying a spectacular light show.

Sani does a leg sweep and Orenda falls to the ground. He

pounces on top of her!

The glowing blade is slowly descending towards her chest.

78.

She pushes back with all her strength, but the old man's
advantage of gravity and weight gets him close to his goal.

SANI
DIE YOU EVIL WITCH!

A tattoo of a cloud of smoke glows on Orenda's arm. POOF!

She's gone.

Sani looks around and stands to his feet.

ORENDA (O.S.)
Got you!

A glowing blade shoots out of his chest!

Sani collapses to the floor.

Orenda stands over his body. The glowing blade disappears.

ORENDA (CONT'D)
Old tricks always work.

Orenda notices an antique box on the dresser. She opens it

and sees the glowing amulet from centuries past.

She looks at the old man struggling to live.

ORENDA (CONT'D)
This does not belong to you.

EXT. SANI'S HOUSE - FRONT CURB - NIGHT

Nayati is in front of a open passengers door.

NAYATI
Don't say nothing to Sani I don't
want him to --

The sound of a shattering glass upstairs catches Nayati's

attention.

Nayati stares up at the window and sees the giant horned owl
escape out the window clasping the amulet.

NAYATI (CONT'D)
Sani!

Nayati sprints toward the house.

79.

INT. SANI'S HOUSE - BEDROOM - NIGHT

Nayati enters the room and sees his grandfather on the floor
covered in blood.

NAYATI
NO! Sani, NO!

Nayati bends down and holds Sani in his arms.

Sani cracks open his eyes.

SANI
Believe in the power --

Sani coughs up blood.

SANI (CONT'D)
Believe in the power that you
possess.
(pause)
The panther clan is the mightiest
of all clans.

Nayati nods.

SANI (CONT'D)
When the time comes, the Great
Spirit will be your guide.

Nayati focuses on his grandfather.

NAYATI
She will pay for this Sani, I
promise you and the ancestors.

AHANU (O.S.)
The cops on they way bruh.

Nayati turns toward Ahanu.

NAYATI
Thanks man.

Sani's hand clutches his grandson's hand then -- he slips

away, but a ghostly red energy passes from his hand to
Nayati's.

Nayati hugs his grandfather.

INT. SANI'S HOUSE - BASEMENT - NIGHT

Nayati puts some of Sani's Calligra supplies in his bag.

80.

AHANU
... My granny used to tell me
stories of the sacrifices. She said
it had to be a full moon and it was
always in the same spot...
(pause)
Manitou lake, it was the place of --

NAYATI
Supernatural force.

Both their eyes widen.

AHANU
How you know that bruh?

NAYATI
I - I don't know. I just knew it.

EXT./INT. JAMES' CAR - NIGHT

James grips the steering wheel as he peers out the windshield

at the back lights of Sable's crotch rocket.

EXT. SABLE'S BIKE - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS

Sable glances into the side mirror. She observes the white
Crown Victoria tailing her.

Sable turns the throttle.

EXT. JAMES' CAR - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS

The Crown Vic weaves in and out traffic desperately trying to

keep up with the bike.

EXT. MANITOU LAKE - ALTAR - NIGHT

Cowaya lays Teneca on a stone table. She is bound with ropes.

He secures her to the table.

TENECA
Somebody help!

COWAYA
Scream all you want, no one is
coming for you.

Cowaya looks up at the clouds; a full moon peaks out. He

looks back at Teneca.
81.

COWAYA (CONT'D)
Your purpose is almost complete.

EXT. MANITOU LAKE - EAST SIDE - NIGHT

Sable parks the bike and takes off her helmet. She glances
out across the parking lot and sees the white car in the
distance. She strolls into the mouth of the woods.

EXT./INT. JAMES' CAR - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS

James peers through a set of binoculars. He sees Sable look

at him and go into the woods.
He looks at Toe-Toe.

JAMES
Great, I get to walk INTO a trap.
(pause)
Retirement is not coming fast
enough.

EXT. MANITOU LAKE - WEST SIDE - NIGHT

The red pickup creeps into a parking spot. The doors slowly
open.

Nayati reads a sign: Manitou Lake.

Ahanu looks up at the moon.

AHANU
We ain't got much time bruh.

EXT. MANITOU LAKE - ALTAR - NIGHT

The last of a few clouds uncover a full moon -- Suddenly, we

see the great horned owl circle the skies.

It hovers to the ground then transforms into Orenda. She has

on a cloak tonight.

Cowaya bows his head in her presence.

COWAYA
Enchantress may you live forever.

ORENDA
I feel the sweet nectar of eternity
brewing in the air.
82.

COWAYA
Sable will be here soon.

Orenda watches Teneca squirm.

ORENDA
It is good you have saved yourself
for such a time as this. Your
sacrifice will not be in vain.

Teneca gazes into Orenda's glowing eyes and screams!

Orenda cackles like an old witch.

EXT. MANITOU LAKE - WEST SIDE - NIGHT

The guys search the woods with wide eyes and their heads on
swivels.

The bright moon gives an ample amount of light but Nayati

positions a flashlight to illuminate their path. He pauses to
dig into the satchel. Nayati pulls out the hollow bone and
small pouch. He goes over to a tree.

Ahanu studies Nayati.

Nayati touches the tree and pulls out a bow and arrow that
glows.

AHANU CONT'D)
What tha hell?

A faint voice echoes in the distance.

TENECA (O.S.)
Somebody help!

NAYATI
You hear that?

AHANU
(points)
Yeah, it came from over there.

NAYATI
Come on let's go!

The guys take off -- They weave through the woods.

83.

EXT. MANITOU LAKE - EAST SIDE - NIGHT

A branch cracks as James shines a light through the woods. He

has his gun extended behind a high powered flashlight.

An eerie whistle comes from his left. He quickly turns --

Nothing.

EXT./INT. JAMES' CAR - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS

Toe-Toe lays in the seat. He hears the sound of the whistle.

The dog barks non stop! It jumps and jumps till it reaches
the lowered window opening -- the dog hits the ground
running!

EXT. MANITOU LAKE - EAST SIDE - NIGHT

SABLE (O.S.)
(whisper)
Pahana!

James swerves in the opposite direction. He sees Sable in the

pale moonlight.

JAMES
I am not lost.

SABLE
Good you know what it means. Lets
see if you really know the way.

Teneca's screams catches James attention from another

direction.

He looks back at Sable but she's disappeared.

JAMES
What tha heck?

EXT. MANITOU LAKE - PARKING LOT - NIGHT

Toe-Toe sniffs the air. He catches a sent and makes a b-line

in that direction.

EXT. MANITOU LAKE - EAST SIDE - NIGHT

James surveys the area. He hears faint barking.

84.

JAMES
(whispers)
ToeToe? -- Come here boy!

A twig cracks behind him -- he spins around and stares into

Sables dark eyes. James extends the gun.

JAMES (CONT'D)
Put your hands --

Sable does a spinning kick and knocks the gun into some
shrubs. She then delivers a wicked kick combination to James'
body and head!

James falls to the ground and shakes his head; she dazed him
good. He sees his gun about five feet away.
SABLE
You shouldn't have come here
Pahana.

James stands to his feet and wipes blood from his mouth.

JAMES
That's one thing we can agree on.
Where's the girl?

Sable throws a hook and uppercut combo -- James hits the

ground again. He looks up into the night sky and sighs.

JAMES (CONT'D)
Alright, I see talking isn't
working. I was taught to never hit
a woman, but in this case I'm going
to make an exception.

James rolls over and pops to his feet. He shuffles like a

classic golden glove boxer. He throws a double jab, but Sable
slips out the way of both of them.

SABLE
The Pahana is a little rusty I see.

James' fury is ignited, he steps in to throw a hook but Sable

goes under it and delivers an elbow to the ribs. We see an
image of ribs being cracked.

He stumbles back, drops to a knee, and tries to suck in some

air.

JAMES
Now I see what Tyson's opponents
felt like.
85.

SABLE
This is where we part ways Pahana.

Sables' true form is revealed. She looks like an ancient

African creature; razor sharp claws emerge from her hands.

James' eyes widen.

ARF! ARF!

Toe-Toe comes into frame running full speed and leaps onto
Sable's back. The demon-woman spins and reaches for the small
dog but Toe-Toe has a firm grip on the back of her neck.

James spots his gun and scrambles over to it.

Sable finally latches hold of the pesky animal and slings it

into a tree. The dog lies limp on the ground.

The wicked creature turns her attention back to James. She

whispers...

SABLE
PAHANA.

Sable steps forward but James unloads on her!

CLICK, CLICK, CLICK.

James still points the pistol till it's empty. His eyes are
focused on her as smoke swirls from the nozzle.

Sable collapses to the ground. She slowly turns back to the

young innocent African female from the very beginning scene.
Her soul stands and looks at James.

SABLE
(soft echoe)
Thank you Pahana!

James nods.

Sable's body falls to a heap of dust on the ground. The dust

twirls like a small tornado and floats to the skies
disappearing from James' sight.

James walks over and picks up the chain. He then looks over
at his poor pet and runs to assist him.
86.

JAMES
(holds dog)
If it wasn't for you, I'd be a
goner. I'll never forget you boy.

James closes his eyes and hugs the dog.

Toe-Toe barks and licks the side of James' face.

JAMES (CONT'D)
TOE-TOE..?
(pause)
Thank God you're alive! Don't scare
me like that boy.

TENECA (O.S.)
Nayati... HELP!

James looks in the direction of the sound and sprints into

the woods!

EXT. MANITOU LAKE - ALTAR - NIGHT

Orenda looks up at the full moon. She casts off the cloak.

ORENDA
It is time...

Cowaya walks over to her with his arms extended -- he holds

an exotic dagger.

Orenda takes the knife. She lifts it high into the air over
Teneca.

ORENDA (CONT'D)
(Mikisuki language)
There are no limits to time and
space. Seasons stand still there's
no night or day.
(pause)
Life eternal takes all precedence,
because it's granted as my
inheritance.

Tears stream down Teneca's face. She knows her time is up.

The knife descends and is about to make contact until -- a

glowing arrow comes into sight and knocks the blade from
Orenda's hand!

Teneca eyes pop open and she sees Nayati holding a bow in the
distance.
87.

TENECA
Nayati... HELP!

Nayati glares at the witch.

NAYATI
Save your little poems for someone
else.

Orenda eyes widen. She looks at Cowaya.

ORENDA
They must not hinder the process.
Stop them.

Cowaya grins with glee.

COWAYA
With pleasure!

In an instance Cowaya transform into the majestic white

coyote.

Ahanu and Nayati slowly retreat back into the woods.

AHANU
Oh snap, this some African Twilight
shit!

The giant beast savors its prey. We even see a smile peek
past the animals fangs. It lunges in the guys direction --

EXT. MANITOU LAKE - WEST SIDE - NIGHT

Nayati and Ahanu sprint into the woods.

NAYATI
(while running)
I got a plan!
(pause)
Let's split up!

AHANU
You sure!

NAYATI
Just do it!

They split into different directions but the wild beast goes
after the weaker target -- Ahanu.

Ahanu dashes through the trees and sees the animal trailing
behind.
88.

AHANU
That's just great!
(to Nayati)
HURRY BRUH! FRIGHT NIGHT ON MY
TAIL!

Nayati darts behind a tree and whips out his bag!

EXT. MANITOU LAKE - ALTAR - NIGHT

Orenda smiles at the sacrifice.

ORENDA
Now where were we..?

Seeing the dagger on the ground, she reaches down to retrieve

it -- BANG -- a bullet spins the dagger further away.

Orenda looks up and sees James holding a pistol and a dog

under his arm.

JAMES
Your friend Sable sends her
regards.

James holds up the dangling chain.

Orenda belts out an hideous shriek! She morphs into a half-

bird, half-woman, and ascends into the skies.

James eyes widen.

JAMES (CONT'D)
I knew it was something weird about
her!

He runs over to Teneca and begins to untie her.

The Owl-woman screeches high above the trees.

TENECA
Hurry before she comes back!

EXT. MANITOU LAKE - WEST SIDE - NIGHT

The giant coyote creeps through the woods sniffing the air
above; saliva drips from its mouth.

Ahanu hides behind a tree. He hears the beast getting closer

as branches crush beneath its feet.

Ahanu closes his eyes.

89.

AHANU
(whispers)
Great Spirit ya boy could use a
little help down here...

He peeks around the tree to check -- and a set of dingy

yellow fangs are in his face as the wild beast snarls at its
prey.

Ahanu tries to run but stumbles from fear. He slides

backwards on the ground.

AHANU CONT'D)
C'mon doggy, you don't want to eat
me. I'll make your tummy hurt.

The creature mouth spreads open like a giant dreaded cave, it

leans forward to gobble of the chubby chunk of meat.

ROAR!

The coyote turns to see a solid black panther. It backs away

from Ahanu setting itself up to fight.

Ahanu zeroes in on the panther.

AHANU
(whispers)
WHOA... Nayati!

The two fearless animals circle each other; sizing each other
up, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

The coyote springs out first but is met with the back paw of
the panther sending it crashing into one of cypress trees.

EXT. MANITOU LAKE - ALTAR - NIGHT

James unties the last of the ropes and helps Teneca from the
stone table.

JAMES
C'mon let's get out of here!

They run towards the trees but we see the giant owl-woman
swoop down and grab James by the collar. It carries him a
little ways and drops him to the ground.

James rolls over on a pile of brush. He's definitely in

serious pain.

The Owl-woman circles the skies again, calculating another

attack.
90.

Teneca runs over to offer aide to Mr. London.

Toe-Toe wants to help too. The dog licks his face.

TENECA
Come on you got to get up!

James grunts.

JAMES
I think my legs broken. Where's my
gun? You're gonna have to get ready
for when she comes back.

Teneca sees the pistol some distance away. She sprints over
to it. Suddenly, Orenda snatches her up and flies away.

James sees her struggle to get free.

TENECA
Please help me!

James gathers himself and rises to his feet. He hobbles over

to his gun. He sees that Orenda is taking Teneca back to the
stone altar.

EXT. MANITOU LAKE - WEST SIDE - NIGHT

Ahanu watches as the coyote dashes toward the panther but

fakes an attack. The panther takes the bait and extends to
far out.

The Coyote whips back around and bites into the panthers
front paw crushing its bones. In obvious pain the panther
limps from trying to put pressure on the paw.

The coyote glances down at the wound.

COWAYA (V.O.)
You're good but not good enough.
(pause)
After I'm finished with you and
your friend. We will drink the
sweet nectar of the sacrifice.

Stirred by Cowaya's words; the panther steadies himself for

battle.

The coyote charges the panther and leaps into the sky -- the
panther accepts the challenge and leaps too!

Nayati fakes like he's going to swat with the good paw and
swats the Cowaya with the bad paw.
91.

We see the coyote's skull shatter underneath its skin!

The coyote hits the ground first. The panther lands with
agile grace and a slight limp.

The coyote transforms back into the strong African man. He

looks at the panther then closes his eyes. His body collapses
into a pile of dust. A gust of wind swirls around the pile
and takes it to the skies.

The panther looks at Ahanu.

NAYATI (V.O.)
Come on, we got to save Teneca!

The panther trots over to Ahanu. He climbs on its back.

EXT. MANITOU LAKE - ALTAR - NIGHT

The Owl-woman drops Teneca onto the altar. It crouches over

her and opens its mouth. A swirling light emanates from the
mouth of the bird into Teneca.

Teneca screams but the light sucks the life from her
unwilling body.

Teneca matures fast in age.

Nayati sees the evil beast on top of his girl; he runs

faster!

The Owl-woman peers into Teneca's eyes.

ORENDA (V.O.)
It will be over soon my darling.

ROAR!

The sound makes the trees tremble.

The Owl-woman turns to see the panther coming. She takes to

the skies -- Ahanu jumps off the panther as it springs into
the air catching the bird by the wing slinging it back to the
ground!

The panther circles the wounded creature. It wobbles around

trying to find its balance.

Ahanu runs over to Teneca to help but he notices her face

looks really old.
92.

AHANU
Teneca, c'mon we gotta get you
outta here.

She moves like an elderly woman.

EXT. MANITOU LAKE - FRONT OF THE ALTAR - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS

The Owl-woman wound heals before the panther's eyes. Eternal

life is taking its hold.

The panther lunges to attack again but the giant bird knocks
him away with one of its strong wings! The cat tumbles like a
black ball of yarn across the ground.

Before the cat has stop rolling the giant birds swoops in,
scoops him up, and flies high above the trees -- The panther
is dropped to its demise but a tree break its fall.

The panther transforms back into Nayati.

Ahanu and Teneca comes to offer help to him.

NAYATI
(grunts)
Bro get her out of here.

Ahanu pulls Teneca away.

AHANU
C'mon we gotta go.

The sound of a screech echoes the skies, but we don't see the
creature.

Nayati sees his bag by a tree in the distance.

NAYATI
Great Spirit be my guide.

He scrambles over to the bag -- suddenly the Owl-woman

descends upon the bag and snaps at him.

Nayati stumbles back and the bird reaches out for the kill--

BANG!

The bullet stuns the Owl-woman.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The bird collapses to the ground.

93.

James is hunched over holding the pistol.

The Owl-woman slowly changes back to the beautiful Orenda

Hok'ee -- then she begins to age fast -- then to a pile of
dust!

A gust a wind swirls around the pile and takes it to the

skies.

ORENDA (V.O.)
(Echoes)
NO!

Nayati gazes into the sky. Teneca comes over to help him
walk. She is restored to a young woman again. They embrace
each other.

Nayati sees the amulet and picks it up.

SIX MONTHS LATER

INT. PANTHERS CLAN TATTOO SHOP - DAY

Four speakers are stationed in the corners of a room with

Native American memorabilia mixed with modern-day rap posters
spread out across the walls.

The faint buzz of a tattoo gun fills the room.

NEWS ANNOUNCER (V.O.)

The anonymous winner of the five
million dollar lottery winnings
received their payment and donated
one million dollars to the Seminole
Indian Reservation....

A couple of ladies stand at a cash register and put money

into the hand of Ahanu. He takes the money and gives them
flirty eyes in exchange.

AHANU
We appreciate it and if you need
ANYTHING, don't be afraid to hit us
back up.

The females snicker and exit the building.

INT. PANTHERS CLAN TATTOO SHOP - THE CHAIR - DAY

There is a close up on a white person's bicep. It looks a

little worn but still capable of getting the job done.
94.

Ahanu observes the arm and is in awe, but not at the size of
the arm.

AHANU
Who gets a puppy for their first
tatt?

Nayati backs away from the arm to get a better look. He looks
up at James.

NAYATI
What do you think...?

James glances down at his arm. He smiles and looks at Toe-Toe

lying in someone's lap.

JAMES
Whoa! You're good.
(to Toe-Toe)
Look boy, it's you.

James holds up his irritated bicep.

Toe-Toe concentrates on his owner for a second but then loses

interest.

James quickly turns to Nayati.

JAMES (CONT'D)
Wait a second, it's not gonna jump
off my arm and start barking is it?

Nayati smiles.

NAYATI
Nah, you're good. Maybe when you
come back, I can do an entire
sleeve to put towards the loan you
gave me.

JAMES
NO THANK YOU. One is good enough
for me. Besides, I'll be set for
the next few decades.
(pause)
I figured me and my friend can ride
off into the sunset.

AHANU
Hol' up James. I've heard of white
people being close to their pets,
but really?

James shakes his head and looks at Nayati.

95.

JAMES
Not Toe-Toe, Winema.

AHANU
Oh snap! So you done tied the knot.
That's what's up.

Ahanu walks over and gives James some dap. He looks at his
watch, then looks at Nayati.

AHANU (CONT'D)
Speaking of tieing the knot... Bruh
you better get a move on.

Nayati looks up at the vintage clock.

NAYATI
Shit!

He sprints to the exit.

NAYATI (CONT'D)
Lock up for me will ya!

EXT. HERITAGE CHURCH - DAY

A large assembly of people stand outside behind a church. A

Native American man beats a drum, and next to him is another
man holding a wooden flute.

A Native American elderly man LIWANU (70'S) proudly wears an

animal skin on his head and stands before the group of
people. On a type of altar in front of him sits a vase with
two spouts jetting out of it.

James and Winema hold hands on the front row of the assembly.

Nayati and Teneca stand at a distance from the man, and they
are on separate sides from each other in the back; waiting.
The man with the flute joins in with the drum beat and the
couple begin their walk to the altar. The Native American
crowd observes them in great respect.

EXT. HERITAGE CHURCH - ALTAR - DAY

Nayati and Teneca stand in front of each other wearing

traditional Seminole apparel. Colorful beads decorate
Teneca's neck and a head dress with a single feather is
secured to it.

Liwanu holds up both hands to silence the musicians.

96.

LIWANU
We are gathered here today to join
these two in eternal covenant and
honor our long heritage...

Liwanu reaches down and picks up the vase. He holds it in the

sight of all.

LIWANU (CONT'D)
This heirloom has been passed down
for generations. The two spouts
represent two lives. The bridge at
the top of it signifies their lives
as one...

Liwanu extends the vase in the middle of the couple. They

both take hold of the handles.

LIWANU (CONT'D)
It was said that if the couple
could drink from the vase at the
same time a good understanding and
cooperation would dwell in their
mist forever.
(pause)
Please drink as a pledge to your
bond today...

The couple tilt the vase back and lean down together and the
liquid fills their mouths; not one drop falls.

LIWANU (CONT'D)
Above are the stars of heaven and
below are the stones of earth. May
your love be forever bright and
unbreakably solid.
(pause)
Trouble will come but as long as
the Great Spirit guides you, there
is nothing to fear. The eternal
bond of peace covers your union...
Liwanu grabs a beautifully woven blanket and covers them
both.

LIWANU (CONT'D)
You two entered here on separate
paths, but this is a symbol that
they have both met as one.

Nayati and Teneca lean in for a sweet kiss. When their lips
meet a drop of rain plops on their faces. They look up and
several drops begin to follow.
97.

The small crowd welcomes the rain with smiles but take cover
to the church building.

INT. HERITAGE CHURCH - FOYER - DAY

Nayati runs into the building and sees the wedding cake on
the table and the decorated Seminole colors. He observes the
walls pictures of Native American chiefs that have progressed
through the years. One particular picture holds deeper value;
Sani and Yaholo make his eyes a little misty.

AHANU (O.S.)
Bruh! You finally done it!

Nayati turns around quickly wiping his eyes.

Ahanu wants to take advantage of the tears, but saves it for

another time. He looks at the pictures too.

AHANU (CONT'D)
The real O.G.'s.

Nayati nods and smiles.

AHANU (CONT'D)
Say bruh, come see me perform
tonight.

NAYATI
You think you're ready?

AHANU
Come and see.

INT. THE CLUB - COMEDY HOUR - NIGHT

The room is packed with people tonight; it's a celebratory

energy! The OWNER of the club walks upon a small stage. He
motions to the D.J. to lower the music.
Nayati sits at a table with his bride, James, Winema, and a
few others.

OWNER
What's up party people! It's that
time of the night where we touch
your special spot, your funny bone!

The crowd claps.

OWNER (CONT'D)
We have a local that wants to give
it another try. Show him some love
as he comes! Give it up for Ahanu
Minowah!

Ahanu hops up on the stage holding a mic. The light shines on

him. His hand shakes just a little. There's silence.

NAYATI (O.S.)
You got this, BRUH!

Ahanu smiles.

AHANU
Have ya'll heard the one 'bout
walking eagle?
(pause)
When Biden made an appearance
before the Chiefs, they called him
Geh-ton-A-mish. Oh dude smiled and
asked the translator what that
mean?
(pause)
Translator said, it means you're a
walking eagle. Biden said, but
eagles can fly?
(pause)
Translator said, but you're full of
shit, so you can't.

The crowd erupts in laughter. Ahanu confidence builds and he

prepares for his next joke.
