Weather observed during past 24 hours ending at 0830 hrs IST of today (Annexure I):
Advance of Southwest Monsoon
❖ Conditions are favorable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon over some more parts of south Peninsular
India, some parts of Odisha, some more parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and some parts of East
Uttar Pradesh during next 2-3 days.
Significant Weather features, Forecast and Warning during next 5 days: (Annexure II)
(A) Low Pressure Area (Remnant of Cyclonic Storm ‘Biparjoy’) over Southwest Uttar Pradesh &
neighbourhood
A Low Pressure Area lies over central parts of Uttar Pradesh. Under its influence:
Heavy Rainfall Warning:
• Light to moderate rainfall at many places with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Uttar Pradesh on 21st June.
(B) Weather Forecast and Warning for rest parts of the country due to strengthening of the Monsoon Flow
over the Indian subcontinent:
Northeast & adjoining East India:
❖ Light/moderate rainfall at most places with isolated thunderstorm & lightning very likely during next 5 days.
❖ Isolated extremely heavy rainfall likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during 20th-21st and west
Assam on 21st June and isolated Heavy to Very Heavy falls on 22nd June.
❖ Isolated heavy rainfall also likely over Bihar, Jharkhand on 21st & 22nd ; Gangetic West Bengal on 22nd & 23rd;
and Odisha during 21st-25th with isolated Very Heavy falls over Odisha 23rd and 24th June.
Northwest & adjoining Central India:
❖ Light/moderate fairly widespread rainfall with isolated thunderstorm & lightning over Himachal Pradesh,
Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh during 23rd-25th and isolated to scattered rainfall over plains of Northwest India
on 24th & 25th June.
❖ Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Uttarakhand during 23rd-25th; Uttar Pradesh on 25th; over East Madhya
Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha on 24th & 25th June.

❖ Light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated thunderstorm & lightning very likely over the
region during next 5 days.
❖ Isolated Heavy rainfall also likely over South Interior Karnataka on 21st; Coastal Andhra Pradesh during 21st-
25th and Coastal & North Interior Karnataka on 24th & 25th June.
West India:
❖ Light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated thunderstorm & lightning very likely over the
region during 22nd-24th June.
❖ Isolated Heavy rainfall also likely over south Konkan & Goa during 23rd-25th; over Madhya Maharashtra on 24th
& 25th June.

IMPACT & ACTION SUGGESTED due to Heat Wave Conditions:
❖ Yellow alert Areas:
➢ Moderate temperature, Heat is tolerable for general public but moderate health concern for vulnerable people e.g.
infants, elderly, people with chronic diseases.
➢ Avoid heat exposure, Wear lightweight, light colour, loose, cotton clothes, Cover your head, use a cloth, hat or
umbrella.
Agromet advisories for rainfall, thunderstorms/gusty winds and heatwave likely over various parts of the
country
• Make arrangements for draining out excess water from crop fields to avoid water stagnation in Uttar Pradesh,
West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Interior Karnataka and North
Eastern States.
• Provide mechanical support to horticultural crops and staking to vegetables.
• Apply light and frequent irrigation to standing crops in East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and
Telangana.

A. Impact Expected
• Localized Flooding of roads, water logging in low lying areas and closure of underpasses mainly in urban areas
of the above region.
• Occasional reduction in visibility due to heavy rainfall.
• Disruption of traffic in major cities due to water logging in roads leading to increased travel time.
• Minor damage to kutcha roads.
• Possibilities of damage to vulnerable structure.
• Localized Landslides/Mudslides
• Damage to horticulture and standing crops in some areas due to inundation.
• It may lead to riverine flooding in some river catchments (for riverine flooding please visit Web page of CWC)
B. Action Suggested
• Check for traffic congestion on your route before leaving for your destination.
• Follow any traffic advisories that are issued in this regard.
• Avoid going to areas that face the water logging problems often.
• Avoid staying in vulnerable structure.
