country, continent).
Students can identify and locate their city, county, state, country, and continent. Students also can
create their own original audio tool to show their learning.
Description of Software: Spotify for podcasters is an online tool that allows students to create, edit
and produce their own audio file anywhere. They can add music, video, or messages into their
podcast to show their learning.

☐ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.
☒ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.
☒ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to

demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing
it via an outside source.)
Lesson idea implementation:
Write a paragraph describing how the lesson will be implemented using the prompts as your
guide. Remember, this lesson MUST facilitate STUDENT- USE of an audio or video tool to
demonstrate their learning on a topic of your choice:
1. What activity will you plan for your students using this tool and how will it be introduced?
The activity I will plan for my students is to go through step by step how to create and edit an
audio tool. This will be introduced by showing them mine and then us creating one together
with them following along with me.
2. How will you make students aware of their goal(s)?
I will begin my lesson by stating our objectives and what the students should be able to do by
the end of the lesson. I will continue to remind them throughout the lesson to make sure
they are staying on task.
3. How will students utilize the technology?
Students will utilize the technology by creating their own audio file that shows where they
live and how they know.
4. What will the teacher do?
While students are working, I will be walking around making sure students are staying on
task and assisting them in creating their podcasts if they get stuck.
5. How will feedback be provided to the students? Finally, how will you conclude the lesson?
- I will give feedback to my students by having a one on one with them going through their
podcasts and my feedback notes with them to ensure that they understand their
feedback. I will also hand them my paper notes to take home and read back over them.
- I will conclude my lesson by having my students share their podcasts with their table
groups as well as walk around and ask whoever feels comfortable to share theirs with the
class.
Managing student learning:
This tool will cause a shift in the behavior of students where they move from passive to active social
leaners because they will get excited and want to show what they are doing to their peers. I will
ensure that my students are using their time effectively by giving them two 5-minute breaks to
stretch and talk in between their creating process.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection:
The lesson that I created follows along with the Action and expression components of the UDL
framework. This activity allows them to show and express what they know about where they live by
creating a podcast explaining. I am using the Spotify for podcasters online tool which supports all
students because it is an easy tool for younger students to manage as well as gives them different
opportunities to show their work in the way that fits them the best. This will enhance student
learning experiences because they get to be creative and have fun while learning and talking about

something that is about them and something they are connected to.
Reflection
After designing this lesson idea, I think it will impact student learning because they are creating
something fun and interesting while still learning. They also get to design and use their own voice to
show what they know. I am most excited to implementing this with my students and seeing what
amazing file they come up with.
