TYPES OF EXERCISES
The types of physical activity that can help you get fit and stay healthy
include:

A. Aerobic or "cardio" activities. These make your heart beat faster

and make you breathe harder, such as brisk walking, riding a bike,
dancing, or running. They strengthen your heart and lungs and build
up your endurance.

B. Strength training activities. These make your muscles work against,

or "resist," something. Examples include lifting weights or doing push-
ups. These activities help tone and strengthen your muscles and
bones.

C. Stretches. These let you move your joints and muscles through
their full range of motion. Stretching helps you be more flexible.

Benefits of Exercise
Being physically active can improve your
brain health, help manage weight, reduce
the risk of disease, strengthen bones and
muscles, and improve your ability to do
everyday activities. Individuals who sit less
and do any amount of moderate-to-
vigorous physical activity gain some health
benefits.
