In this company of Kandy, there are five main sections that employees work for the IT and
computing field. They are, the Front officers, Programmers, Accountants, Project manager
and IT administrator. To fulfill their basic IT needs, we can recommend and specify the
below types of computers, hardware equipments, input and output components and relevant
softwares, according to each of their tasks that they wish to perform in their firm.

SUITABLE INPUT DEVICES THAT ARE NEEDED

Input devices help the communication with PCs. So, every employee needs them. We can
specify the same for all the staff in this company.

The main input devices that specifications done are, mouse, keyboard, microphone and
scanner.

Mouse When selecting a suitable mouse, main things

to consider are, battery life, DPI (Dots for
linear inch), gaming or office use, warranty,
wired or wireless.

EX: Razer Viper 8K

This wired mouse is ideal for speed, with

16,000 DPI that can be adjusted. This is a
gaming one too, but in one hand can use in
official background, 8000Hz speed is that the
pointer is smooth when doing quick tasks in
 daily work. Light and easy, can use left
handed or right handed. But, the PC also
need to be compatible with this mouse. It will
not affect because specific PC models are
recommended for this department.

Logitech MX Anywhere 3 (Portable wireless

mouse)

A special feature of this mouse is that it can

be placed in any surface, even on glass, a
mouse pad is not compulsory. It is light and
easy, with 4000 DPI that is adjustable. It is
charging via USB, and can work for seven

Keyboard When choosing a keyboard, we have to

consider whether is it wired or wireless,
functions, or is it suitable with work.

readable. It connects by Bluetooth and a USB

when without using backlit.

Microphone An ideal microphone for office use

As input devices, output devices too are mainly specified for all as same, by considering
factors and selecting the most suitable ones.

The main output devices discussed here are, monitor, printer, audio speakers and projector.

SOFTWARE NEEDS

Software is a basic need on the employees of this company. Two types of software can be
installed for relevant users here.

Accountants and front officers can go with Microsoft Azure, that comes with Microsoft 365
Apps for their tasks.
While Project manager, programmers and IT administrative section can get along with
MySQL Software, that is compatible with a big mass of work, compairing with accountants
and front desk officers.

MICROSOFT AZURE

Normally, this software has a minimum requirements of twelve- core, double socket
processor, RAM of 96GB and drive with capacity of 140GB and, the recommended
specification for it is, sixteen core processor with double socket, 128GB RAM and, drive
with 250 GB storage.

Supportive with windows 10 operating system, so can specify for accounts department and
front desk officers.

MySQL

This has minimum hardware requirements as below,

CPU- minimum requirement is 64bit x86 CPU, while the recommended one is multi-core
64bit x86 CPU.

RAM- minimum is 4GB and the recommended is 8GB or above.

Display minimum amount is 1024×768 and, the recommended size is 1920 into 1200 or
above it.

In here, we have to provide justifications for the above hard ware and software that we
recommended.

Why select INTEL PROCESSOR over AMD?

Intel Processors got a good battery life, and more speeder clocks. But, some AMD models
have good features as Intel.

Why sometimes need to select DDR4 and DDR3?

DDR4 have a higher clock speed and performance than DDR3, but, sometimes can upgrade a
DDR3 because it have auto refreshing. DDR4 has only self refresh. BOTH can be put for
specified needs of the users.

Software Justification
Why select the MySQL software and MS AZURE software?

Because, in this company, the above two softwares are recommended as, they are supportive
with the Windows 10 operating system and the Windows 2019 server operating system.

The hardware requirements of it are also suitable for each user’s needs in their computing
careers.

Why select the same set of I/O devices for the entire company?

As the input devices are mouse, keyboard, microphone and scanner, and the output devices
are, monitor, printer, speakers and projector, they all fulfill the same needs of every
employee. There are small differences between some models, but the most suitable ones are
specified to match each occupation.
TASK 3 ANSWER

In here, the operating system is the main software that mainly needed. It manages the
resources of a computer, and, those resources include the CPU, STORAGE, MEMORY, I/O,
and network connections. It communicates with the computer hardware and make programs
possible to run.

There are various operating systems in nowadays, such as Windows, Linux, Mac, etc.

In this company, Windows 10 operating system and Windows Server 2019 operating system
is specified and properly justified for each user needs.

RECOMMENDED
Programmers Windows 10 O/S First, when new comers
Project manager attend this company in the

O/S has to take in place, and
Windows 10 can fulfill it.
As for programmers, this O/S
supports with many
languages that can get from
the windows store, and with

options, and it has a good

Cortana has to be turned off,
to get additional security.
Also, it have a good battery
life when working in a long
time with coding. It updates
the system to work faster and
 safer. Not only that, this O/S
is supportive with windows
package manager, windows
terminal on coding, visual
studio, VS code editor for
JAVA, Python, C++….
More features of Windows
10 are, when working with a
group of employees, when
reading the same codes and
information. Not only for
coding, it is way more easier
for even beginners, and other
employees as well. The
active directory is enabling
connections for laptops and
desktops, so, Windows 10
also can run on all the
desktop and laptop models
that are selected and justified
above, and it allows many
hardware devices to install.
The office 365 pack also
brings great benefits with
storing, analyzing,
performing and processing
data.

IT Administrating Windows 2019 Server O/S There is Windows 2016

chosen because of the
advanced features in it.
SERVER 2019 is the latest
 version of all the past
versions. It have better
performance, security, and
hybrid technologies as,
Hybrid cloud options.
Files backup and syncing in
advanced.
Gives protection on working
data that runs on physical and
virtual machines.
Embedded virus protection
defender, that is in server
2019 but not in server 2016.
Device and credential guard
is available.
Have active directory for
clusters in windows server.
Also this have small
containers that can save
space.
Additional server core
features- get the standard
higher of app compatibility,
including sets of binaries
from windows server, with
the help of laptop and
desktops.

Why Windows is selected over Mac O/S and Linux?

Unlike windows, Linux and Mac is not very familiar among many users, especially
beginners. Linux cannot have features that mostly windows 10 has, like in built security,
availability of programs, and prize that is payed for Windows help to protect the system from
viruses and various malware. But there are advantages of Linux as well, because can also get
a freedom of customizing their O/S and the strong command line, and free upgrading it have.

When it comes for Mac O/S, Mac is very expensive more than Windows, Windows is withy
better security, device functions and options, and common with other employees, and have
better benefits for coders specially. But, Mac can be a better choice if Apple devices are
chosen. Because, it easily synchronize with Mac O/S, and Apple’s features.
TASK 4 ANSWER

Above, is the network diagram for the Kandy branch.

The light blue space represents the front desk officers, with five desktop PCs and one printer
that is connected for 1 PC. There is a fax and a scanner, they all connect for a switch, and that
cable leads towards the router and connects. Wireless connection is supplied as well.

The green square is the programming department, that have ten desktop PCs, and one of them
connected with a printer. They all are connected separately for the switch, and that switch is
connecting for the router. Here too, wireless network is given.

The light orange space is the Project manager’s office, there is one laptop, a printer, scanner,
a fax and specially, a projector, the output device that was mentioned at Task-2. As they all
are connected for the switch, that switch is communicating with the router too. Wireless
connection is given there when the Laptop need to access it.
The yellow coloured one is the accounting department with four desktop PCs, with printer,
scanner and a fax. These are also connected for the switch, and the main cable of it connects
to the router. Here also the wireless access point is provided to use when needed.

The IT Admin department that is highlighted with light purple, is having three servers with
three monitors. One can be the IT administrator while the other two can be the supportive
workers under him/her. These all, and the printer, scanner is connected for the switch
separately, and that switch is connected with the router as well.

Finally, the router connects to the protection firewall, and, the whole LAN (LOCAL AREA
NETWORK-OF KANDY BRANCH) is connected to the Department of Colombo. The
communication link represents the WIDE AREA NETWORK (WAN) that the Kandy branch
is connected with.
