My Eid Al-Fitr Holiday Story

The Eid Al-Fitr or Lebaran holiday is a special moment for all Muslims around the world. It's a time to
gather with family and friends, break the fast, pray, and celebrate the end of Ramadan. This year, my
Eid Al-Fitr holiday gave me mixed feelings, but overall I am feeling quite happy with my Eid Al-Fitr
holiday.

The Eid Al-Fitr holiday starts nearly before the Eid Al-Fitr day, on that days I spent a lot of time with
my friends and also my relatives. My friends and I had a tradition of having iftar (breaking the fast)
together. On the Eid Al-Fitr holiday me and my friends go to some place such as a café or mall to have
an iftar together, the next day we also gather at one of my friend’s houses to bring some food and
enjoy the meal together for our Iftar. It was always a fun and exciting time as we caught up with each
other's lives and shared stories about anything in our life.

The other day, I and my family went to visit our close relative’s house near my home. We visit our
close relatives to have an Iftar together, when I and my family went there, we brought some snacks
and sweets for us to eat together. We enjoyed chatting, eating, and catching up with our relatives.

On the day of Eid Al-Fitr, me and my family woke up early in the morning and prepared for the day.
We put on our best clothes for Eid day, and my mother cooked chicken opor, a traditional dish for
Eid. My mother also cooked Rendang for our Eid meals. I choose chicken opor for my breakfast meal.
Then, around 6 a.m we went to the mosque to pray, and it was a great feeling to see everyone
dressed in their best outfits and smiling, wishing each other a happy Eid.

However, our Eid holiday this year was not complete because my father had to work on the day of
Eid, so we couldn't go back to our hometown which had been a routine for our family every year. It
was kind of upsetting me and my family as we missed our extended family and the feeling of
happiness when we are in our hometown during Eid day. But we still had the rest of our family on Eid
day, and we tried to just celebrate our Eid Al-Fitr day happily. Then, my family and I went to our
relative’s house, in there we enjoy the Eid meal together. It was always a fun and exciting time as we
caught up with each other's lives and shared stories about our Ramadan experiences.

On the second day of Eid, my mother invited some of our neighbors for a small gathering at our
house. She cooked chicken opor again, beef semur, and also lontong sayur. We had a good time
talking and laughing with our neighbors. It was a nice way to celebrate Eid, even though we couldn't
be with our extended family.

In conclusion, my Lebaran or Eid Al-Fitr holiday was different from the previous years, but it was a
meaningful and enjoyable experience. We had the chance to spend time with friends, relatives, and
neighbors. Then I can eat delicious food, and pray together with my family. It reminded me of the
importance of family and togetherness, and we looked forward to the next Lebaran holiday when we
could celebrate with our full family again. Despite the differences, our Eid Al-FItr holiday was still a
meaningful and enjoyable experience.
