Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in English 5 Quarter III

I. Objectives:

At the end of the end of the lesson the pupils should be able to:

a. use compound sentences to show cause and effect


b. identify the relationship between cause and effect and:
c. Distinguish text types according to features (structures
and languages)
II. Content:

Topic: distinguishing cause and effect text types

Key concept: Understanding cause and effect text types

Materials: Flash cards, Pictures, video, Dictionary And vocabulary

IV. Learning Procedures:


A. Preliminary Activities:
a. Prayer
b. Greetings
c. checking of attendance
d. Setting classroom standards
e. Review
Ask the pupils what was the previous topic and ask for an
example of what are they.
f. Motivation
The pupils will be group in to two and each group will be
given a picture for them to demonstrate in front and the other
pupil will figure out which is the cause and which is the
effect.
B. Developmental Activities
A. Introduction.
The class will be handed a short story and then they will
identify what is the cause and effect of the story
Instruction: in the same group each group will assign a
representative and present their answer in front.
B. Teaching modeling
- in this part the learners will again be group into four
and will write a cause and effect sentence and will be
presented in front of the class
C. Guided practice
- The pupils will be then ask what is cause and what is
effect and how to distinguish the two
- Ask the pupils to give an example of cause and effect
D. Independent Practice
Direction: question and answer
The teacher will read a story and ask a question at the
same time
V. Evaluation

Direction: Read the text then identify the cause and effect in the paragraph.

The water shortage that hit the country lately causes several
problems. Because of the shortage, public places like local restaurants and many
other places are forced to use very little water for cleaning which causes huge
sanitation issues. In household settings, clean drinking water is also hard to acquire.
Lack of water also result in clogged sewage, a perfect breeding places for
mosquitoes and other insects – the source of dengue, malaria, and other diseases.
In rural areas, growing of plants becomes a hard job because of less irrigation, which
leads to a shortage in crops like rice.

VI. Assignment

Construct at least 5 compound sentences that show’s cause and effect.
