band: Yesterdays
album: A Moonlit Night in Budapest (live from 2007)
release: 22/09/2023
Less than a year following the release of their highly
acclaimed concept album "Saint-Exupéry’s Dream,"
Hungarian progressive rock band Yesterdays is making a
return. This time, they're presenting a live CD. The
recording dates back to 2007 during their Holdfénykert
tour in Budapest, where they had the honor of featuring
former Yes guitarist Peter Banks along with his Harmony
in Diversity trio.

On a chilly February evening in Budapest, along the

Danube River, aboard a vessel named A38—Budapest's
most prominent concert venue—a significant event took
place. Three bands graced the stage for the MiniProg
Festival: Yesterdays, Flamborough Head, and Harmony in
Diversity.

Yesterdays was in exceptional form that night, even

surprising Pete with a rendition of a Yes classic ("Time and a Word"). Right after the performance,
Pete immediately joined them on stage, took hold of a microphone, and lauded the band. (You can
listen to his speech at the conclusion of the epic track "Seven.") This encounter led to three
memorable days in the heart of Hungary's capital, forging enduring and invaluable memories.

This marked the debut lineup of Yesterdays. Three beautiful girls stood at the forefront, accompanied
by five dedicated guys working hard to synchronize with the complex time signatures and tempo
changes. Although they were youthful, their passion for their debut album, "Holdfénykert" (Moonlit
Garden), burned brightly.

The discovery of the multitrack recording of this particular show, tucked away in a dusty old box, was
indeed a miraculous occurrence in 2022—an instantaneous journey through time. Ákos, serving as
Pete's guitar technician for the night, became an integral part of this historical episode. Snippets from
Pete's performance were included in the final Harmony in Diversity live compilation. Additionally,
Flamborough Head had already released their own live CD from the Budapest show. Now, it's
Yesterdays' turn to present this material to their devoted fans. This CD stands as the most vivid
musical recollection of the band's debut tour. Following their performances in Cluj-Napoca
(Romania), the ProgFarm Festival (Netherlands), and Budapest in 2006, this February 2007 show
was a genuine delight.
