• 23695:CAA CAF event writing is occasionally delayed for 15s with MT calls
• 23735:CAA-CAF not written if script stopped during answer call script event and call hasn't been
received
• Service information stays as “service drop” after UMTS channel lock
• LTE-A: Number of secondary serving cells is > 0 when secondary channel is configured but not active.
The activation state is shown in “Cell state” parameter.
• Listed cells are not reported in idle mode
• RRC CONNECTION REQUEST message is missing occasionally
• Attach/detach commands should be avoided with LTE terminals. Using these commands causes
instabilities in the UEs. UEs can also reset itself. Issue is fixed to Nemo Outdoor version 6.4.1.8 but if the
issue is still experienced, the following instructions should be followed. It is recommended to choose
from User Interface Properties -> Measurement -> Force detach when going to idle mode -> No. This
will prevent the UE from detaching. If attach/ detach commands are needed frequently, for example,
with script files, it is recommended that ‘Radio Off’ / ‘Radio On’ commands are used instead of
attach/detach.
• MultiRAB testing. When a voice call is terminated, the PS data connection might be released with UEs
using the “Trace interface” call method to make voice calls. In such a case it is recommended to use
“Trace interface 2” call method.

• Handset can be used with Application Tester Handler for data testing only. Voice calls cannot be done
via Nemo Outdoor user interface or logged
• FTP data transfers must be done on passive mode
Bittium Handsets
• During HSPA data testing, the device may warn about “Incompatible trace message”. These new trace
messages will be implemented in future version of Nemo Outdoor.
• When doing MT voice call testing, the call answer delay must be set to 1 (the default setting of 0 will
cause the phone to not recognize the call properly, even though it is correctly handled in Outdoor)
8 | Keysight | Nemo Outdoor 8.6.1 Test Device Technical Notes
• When the device attempts to attach to a WCDMA network, the attach request is rejected by the
network, thus preventing the device being used in WCDMA networks. The issue is reported to the
vendor.

is not detected). This error message can be dismissed if the device seems to work ok.
• Samsung Shannon based devices are not recommended to be used for MIMO 4x4 testing due to the
following reasons listed below. Keysight does not take any responsibility to replace the devices free of
charge after initial delivery
o RSSI/ RSRP/ RSRQ are not available for eNB TX-antenna ports 2-3
o Reported PDSCH Rank indicator (RI) is not valid when MIMO configuration is higher than 2x2
• PDSCH throughput per codeword is not available
• PDSCH throughput per PRB is not available
• The following parameters are reported as a single value per reporting period. Not per TTI
o Control format indicator (CFI)
o PDSCH / PUSCH PRB allocation
o PDSCH/ PUSCH modulation and MCS
o LTE precoding matrix indicator (PMI)
• Voice Quality testing is recommended to be done with “Voice only” scripts. It has been observed that
data connections in the script may have effect on Voice Quality results.
• Voice Quality scores on Shannon based devices are in some cases lower than on comparable Qualcomm
based devices. This may be caused by differences in behaviour during i.e. handovers.
• Check data sheet for details on reported parameters. For example, UMTS Cell ID is not reported.
• MMS testing is not supported
• System locking (GSM/WCDMA/LTE) and Band locking (WCDMA/LTE) are supported, when NMR is
used with the device
o With LTE band locking does not work for TD-LTE bands. They are always enabled, if the device

• Multiple bands/RATs locking is not supported
• Sometimes the device’s modem port may stop working. The issue is being investigated, but there are no
major drawbacks to set the modem port to “Not used” in Nemo Outdoor, when Nemo Media Router is
used with the device.
17 | Keysight | Nemo Outdoor 8.6.1 Test Device Technical Notes
o When the device is to be used with Invex, the modem port setting must be set to “Not used”
• If the device does not have SIM card inserted, opening the modem port will always fail
• Nemo Media Router is highly recommended. Without NMR some features may not work correctly.
• The following issue is valid with Shannon 333 devices (S6 series). In some cell re-selections the
diagnostics start reporting the serving cell RSCP and Ec/No with abnormal degradation as if this would
have some running filter with no new inputs. In some cases the reported results drop to RSCP -121 &
Ec/N0 -24. Issue is seen only in idle mode
• To use Outdoor 8.52 and later successfully with Samsung phones, Samsung USB drivers need to be
updated for the latest version 1.5.65.0

• HBflex support implemented to Nemo Outdoor version 8.3.1. Scanner requires firmware updates to
support RSSI power measurements and 5G NR decoding.
• Please contact Keysight NWS sales for further information.
PCTEL MXflex
• The scanner must not be added to Nemo Outdoor before the scanner LED turns green. During the
scanner start-up process the LED is amber. If the scanner is added to Nemo Outdoor in the middle of
the start-up process, it can cause Nemo Outdoor to crash.
• Missing neighbor difference to strongest pilot reports value 0.0dBm
• P-SCH CINR is not available
PCTEL MX
• The scanner must not be added to Nemo Outdoor before the scanner LED turns green. During the
scanner start-up process the LED is amber. If the scanner is added to Nemo Outdoor in the middle of
the start-up process, it can cause Nemo Outdoor to crash.
• When MX scanner receiver is used with a Nemo Invex UIC module, other devices must not be connected
to the same UIC module.
• The power switch must remain in the Drive Test position at all times. The Indoor Test Mode is not
available at this time.
• The GPS antenna needs to be connected before power up.
• Occasionally scanner device does not accept scanning configuration sent by Nemo Outdoor application
even though status is “scanning”. Device is not reporting any scanning results. In such situations it is
advised to open device measurement properties again and press ok. Issue have been reported to the
vendor.
• Detecting and connecting the PCTel MX scanning receiver for the first time takes a much longer time.
Time depends on the number of available COM ports installed in the computer. With Win XP computers
the required time is longer than with Win7 operating system. The required time is ~2min- 10 min. It is
22 | Keysight | Nemo Outdoor 8.6.1 Test Device Technical Notes
recommend to save the hardware configuration file with Nemo Outdoor after the first connection to the
scanner receiver. Starting device with an existing hardware configuration file is much faster.
PCTEL EX
• Stopping measurement fails occasionally with EX scanners. Due to this reason starting new
measurement is failing. A workaround is to power cycle the scanner receiver
• Pilot scanning works only in Top-N mode. This is a device feature
• Timeslot scanning is not supported
• The channel parameter is ‘n/a’ when an empty PILOTSCAN measurement event is written
PCTEL EX WiMAX
• For Top-N preamble scanning to be successful, the scanning receiver must acquire a GPS fix at least 30
seconds before starting the Nemo Outdoor application in online mode. If the existing configuration file
includes a PCTEL WiMAX scanner, it is recommended to open the configuration file in offline mode. If
the scanner does not send any results after 30 seconds, it is recommended to send a reset command to
the scanner via the user interface
PCTEL EX GSM/TD-SCDMA
PCTEL CX
• WCDMA frequency and pilot scanning supported at the moment. Other systems and spectrum scanning
are not supported.
PCTEL LX
• With the GSM/WCDMA scanner, the Internal GPS receiver should be activated only in UMTS mode
• The R&S TSML and TSMQ scanning receivers have reached end-of-life. The software development is
discontinued and new versions of the software will not support the device from Nemo Outdoor version
8.6.0 onwards. Nemo Outdoor version 8.5.0 is the last version supporting devices with the required
Rohde & Schwarz ViCom interface.
• TSML & TSMQ Windows 7 driver version 12.0.0.0. Please read the TSMx-NewFireWireDriver.pdf
document for further information about the installation process.
• After starting the measurement it can take up to 10- 20 seconds before the scanner receiver starts
reporting the scanning results
• The TSML and TSMQ devices might not work correctly when connected directly to the FireWire port of
the computer. If connection problems are experienced, it is recommended to use a PCMCIA express
adapter card “FireWire Express card TSPC-FW1 (415010-00)”.
• Problems with some Dell Notebooks.
o Possible problems are caused by some of the drivers installed on Dell systems by default. The
problems can be solved out by removing the original system and re-installing the operating
system only with the components necessary to operate with the scanners.
o It has been recognized that the systems which only provide 1024 bytes Host rec. buffer size
(instead of 2048 bytes) can cause issues with the scanning receivers. This can be checked from
23 | Keysight | Nemo Outdoor 8.6.1 Test Device Technical Notes
the Rohde & Schwarz TSMx Device driver properties tab. Dell Vostro 1014 model has been
found to be incompatible with the R&S TSML-GW scanner. GSM scanning cannot be performed.

laptop before connecting the scanner receiver
• To be able to measure LTE Time Offset, a GPS antenna must be connected to the receiver
24 | Keysight | Nemo Outdoor 8.6.1 Test Device Technical Notes
• The R&S TSMQ scanning receiver has reached end-of-life. The software development is discontinued
and new versions of the software will not support the device from Nemo Outdoor version 8.6.0
onwards. Nemo Outdoor version 8.5.0 is the last version supporting devices with the required Rohde &
Schwarz ViCom interface.
• Spectrum scanning cannot be done with R&S TSMQ scanners in Nemo Outdoor version 8.1.0.
• EVDO measurements can only be performed properly when a CDMA2000 channel is measured as well.
In this way, the time relationship between the different PN offsets is resolved
• The R&S TSML scanning receiver has reached end-of-life. The software development is discontinued
and new versions of the software will not support the device from Nemo Outdoor version 8.6.0
onwards. Nemo Outdoor version 8.5.0 is the last version supporting devices with the required Rohde &
Schwarz ViCom interface.

Other Devices
GPS receivers
• In case GPS fix is lost frequently during driver test, it is advisable to turn off the car radio to see if it is
generating spurious emissions that are interfering with the GPS receiver
• The sound card should be connected to a USB 2.0 port. Connecting the device to a USB 3.0 port may
cause missing MOS scores and distortion in audio, which decreases the MOS score.
• If terminals report lower than expected MOS values in Voice Quality measurements, it may result from
too high CPU usage on the computer. First of all, an Intel® Core Duo processor T2500 2.00GHz or
higher is required for voice quality measurements. If you suspect that the reported MOS values are too
low and you are using multiple terminals and a scanner simultaneously, try the following. First, if you
have many applications running on the laptop, try closing the unnecessary ones. Next, disconnect the
scanner and try testing with a single terminal to see if the MOS values improve. Proceed with testing
with 1-4 terminals without using the scanner simultaneously for optimal MOS results.
• If a sound card is used as a stand-alone hardware connected to a laptop, the test handsets must not be
placed close to the sound card. This applies especially to GSM.
• Turn off all sounds from the test handsets. From Windows OS, choose system sounds scheme as “No
sound”.
• Wi-Fi must be turned off from the laptop. In case stationary tests are performed, for example, in the
office, Wi-Fi base station must not be located close to the measurement system.
• Voice quality echo testing:
o The following reference sample files provided with Nemo Outdoor setup cannot be used due to
too low speech activity ratio for echo testing: 5s_nb.wav, 5s_wb.wav, 7s_nb.wav and 7s_wb.wav
• Note that if there is a system that measures acceleration in the laptop and which causes the hard disk
to stop when jolted, it should be turned off. Otherwise there may be breaks in the measurement files.
With voice quality testing this can be seen with missing MOS scores, and with other test devices with
gaps in the measurement results.
• Voice quality measurements using Nemo Multi Lite suitcases with Nokia terminals:
o When a Nokia terminal is placed to the holder screen facing upwards, it might cause some
interference to a sound card located at the bottom of the suitcase. This is due to the fact that
27 | Keysight | Nemo Outdoor 8.6.1 Test Device Technical Notes
the transmitting antenna is located on the rear side of the terminal. It is recommended to place
the terminal to the holder screen facing down as seen in the picture below
o With voice quality tests Nokia 500, C5 variants, and 6720 handsets must be charged with an
AC/DC 110/220V charger.
• With Nokia C5-03 handsets, the screen of the handset should not be activated during voice quality calls.
Activating the screen causes interference to audio and decreases MOS scores.
• Currently Terratec DMX 6Fire driver does not support Windows 8 operating system
