1.0 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report is prepared to inform the current state of outpatient unit room doors that are always
open which causes energy waste and potential cross contamination where pollution from the
outside can enter the rooms. Therefore, in order to optimize the use of energy in the rooms
and avoid the occurrence of cross pollution, an air curtain system is recommended to be
installed at the doors of the rooms.
This air curtain system functions as a barrier between outside air and inside air, in other words
as a barrier against cold air and hot air. The mechanism of this system works where this air
blocker produces air rotation and is blown up to the floor which seems to form a curtain or an
air door that is produced from strong winds (turbulence) that cannot be penetrated by the air
that is inside the room and the outside space in the room.
2.0 OBJECTIVE
The objective of the Technical Report for by installing an air curtain system unit is as follows:
• Prevents cold air and hot air from entering the room and maintains an ideal temperature of
24°C-26°C while avoiding the waste of energy that occurs in the rooms.
• Prevents outdoor air pollution as dust, insects and others (cross contamination) from
entering the room.
3.0 TECHNICAL PROPOSAL FOR AIR CURTAIN INSTALLATION WORK
The propose of installation air curtain are mainly to encounter ambient air influx into air-
conditioning area at Hospital Sultanah Aminah which leads to several issues explain below;
• Mold growth at several areas due to condensation and delta temperature.

• High relative humidity due to infiltration of ambient air.
• High electrical energy usage for air conditioning system to meet temperature set
point.

6.0 CONCLUSION
The addition of this air curtain system will help reduce energy waste and create a more
energy efficient space while preventing cross pollution in the space. In addition, this
system can also guarantee the comfort of employees and does not interfere with
hospital operations.
