The Phi Delta Phi Legal Excellence Awards were created to honor our members who have achieved prominence in the legal profession while remaining true to the ideals of our Order. Having exemplified an unyielding commitment to the ethical principles espoused by our venerable Fraternity, on April 10th, 2010, the Phi Delta Phi Council awarded the 2010 Phi Delta Phi Legal Excellence Awards to The Honorable John Paul Stevens, U.S. Supreme Court Justice (Ret.) The Faces of Phi Delta Phi Leaders, Lawyers & Legends

For over 140 years, Phi Delta Phi has upheld ethics in our profession. To capture this important legacy, we created the first commemorative volume preserving the fraternitys rich history and profiling Phi Delta Phis who have been outstanding Friends of Justice and Wisdom. This limited edition volume is filled with fascinating anecdotes about famous PDPs and richly endowed with rare historical photographs from our archives in Washington, D.C. chronicling the evolution of Phi Delta Phi from its early days in Ann Arbor to its position today as the worlds preeminent legal fraternity. Phi Delta Phi Annie Miller Devoy (Tiedeman 94) supervised the project which also includes an extensive member directory on CD. Order your copy of The Faces of Phi Delta Phi Leaders, Lawyers & Legends now. Dont miss out on this opportunity. There will not be a second print of this beautiful retrospective of our Fraternitys history. Call (800) 877-6554 today.

Five for Phi Campaign

Student delegates from the Inns, sitting in Convention in August 2009, voted to implement a new fund raising program to be known as Five for Phi. Simply put, it asks all Phi Delta Phis to contribute financially to the Fraternity in any amount that contains a 5. It was noted at the Convention, that if every member contributed just $5 to Phi Delta Phi, the Fraternitys financial picture would be vastly improved. (Unfortunately, over the past few years, Phi Delta Phi has had to reduce the number of scholarships awarded each year due to the depreciation of the Fraternitys endowment fund.) When the vote was passed from the floor of the Convention, many students walked up to the podium and contributed money in furtherance of the plan. Many of these same students will graduate with huge student loan debts, but yet they contributed to Phi Delta Phi. Please follow their lead and contribute something regardless of the amount to the Five for Phi campaign. Its easy and it really helps! And . . . you can do so with a few clicks of the mouse. Simply go to www.phideltaphi.org and click on Five for Phi Campaign.

If you havent done so already, please take a moment to submit your alumni dues online today. Thank Your Phi Delta Phi membership is you for showing your pride in Phi a mark of distinction and the part of Delta Phi and helping to promote ciyour rsum that is the most univervility and professionalism in the pracsally admired. Your membership also tice of law.

Are you Lost, Registered, or a Non-Member?

Phi Delta Phis new web community was launched about a year ago and allows anyone to look up a name and check if a person is a Phi Delta Phi member or not (note: membership lists are not complete before the 1980s when member records went from paper lists to computer lists). If a record is marked as Lost it means the person is a member of PDP but weve lost contact with them. This happens most often as people move and forget to let us know. Anyone can check a name but to protect our members personal information, only those registered to use the online community are able to find other members in a specific field of law or region for consult or simply find an old classmate. The web community is similar to Facebook or LinkedIn. Members of Phi Delta Phi must actively register to use it thus the Registered Members notation. Once registered, members can post photos, blogs and rsums and access the Inn pages to learn about meetings, events or utilize the file library an Inn may have set up for outlines. Registered members can also pick and choose which portions of their profile to hide for additional privacy. Those marked as Non-Members are members of the fraternity that are deceased or have not yet registered to join the web community. These notations change as members update their contact information or registers and change from lost or non-members to registered members. And sadly, when we learn a registered member has passed away, we delete their registered member record and replace it with a non-registered member record. The web community is still young but as more members register to join, it becomes a powerful networking tool and the best way to stay current on PDP news and events.
