SERVO-MOTOR
PART NUMBER
C18165AA
ABBREVIATED COMPONENT MAINTENANCE MANUAL
TASK 22-11-30-870-801-A01
1. Description and Operation
A. Description
(1) Functions
- The servo-motor is associated with a capstan. They constitute an auto-Pilot Actuator Unit
(APAU).
- Three APAU are installed on the aircraft, to control the aircraft in the three axis: Pitch, Roll,
Yaw.
- Each APAU reduces flight crew workload by responding to auto-pilot commands, providing
load and movement inputs into the flight control system cables (Pitch, Roll and Yaw axis).
(2) Characteristics
(a) Overall dimensions: Refer to Figure 1 / 22-11-30-991-011-A01
(b) Mechanical characteristics
- Nominal travels (no mechanical stops):
• for pitch axis: 49 degrees (Auto-pilot Quadrant) or 256 degrees (capstan pulley
travel).
• for roll axis: 58 degrees (Auto-pilot Quadrant) or 198 degrees (capstan pulley
travel).
• for Yaw axis: 48 degrees (Auto-pilot Quadrant) or 163 degrees (capstan pulley
travel).
- Other characteristics, refer to mechanical characteristics of the capstan.
(c) Electrical characteristics
- Voltage: + 28 VDC +/- 0.1VDC.
- Nominal power consumption:
• power consumption without load, clutch engaged: <15 W.
• power consumption with 9 Nm on pulley: <45 W.
• maximum power consumption: transient load, with 13.74 Nm on the pulley: 65 W.
- Consumption in case of current limiting failure: 10 A (duration less than 0.1 second).
