CHAPTER 2

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

This chapter shows a retrospective presentation of previously written material: research

literature and conceptual that has relevance and significance to the research under considered.

2.1 Local Related Literature and Studies

Pestilos et al. (2020) stated that there are positive results in the implementation of the K–

12 curriculum. This means that graduating as a K–12 student helps you. The implementation of

the K–12 curriculum has a great impact on students; they can become more mature and sharper

in their decisions. With the passage of time, the teaching style, structures, and constituents may

change due to the different generations. The K–12 curriculum can pave the way for students to

be prepared for higher school and get a good job. It supports students to open or enhance their

capabilities to write, read, comprehend, and gain leadership, like promoting something that is

beneficial to students and teachers. There are benefits to be had and more. The implementation

of the K–12 curriculum will help students develop their desire, knowledge, intelligence, and

well-being.

ABRAGAN et al. (2020), The k-12 Curriculum envisions to produce graduates that are

ready to take on the challenges of today’s Generation. Students, teachers, and parents alike both

encountered problems in the implementation of the K–12 program, they all have a variety of

opinions or thoughts about the said program. Some parents were Viewing this program in

negative viewed which is this will be another burden for them and for their children Both
physically and financially, but some parents overviewed the program positively and thinking that

this will help the learners choose and decide the career which best suits to their skills. The

narratives of teachers and students in the different studies have legitimized the existence of these

issues. Nevertheless, a good Disposition in life, as well as careful planning, can help them deal

with these challenges. Likewise, the Proper awareness and understanding of the new curriculum

will enable them to participate in the curriculum Change actively. According to this study, the K-

12 Curriculum gives challenges to the parents, instructors, and students. Some of the parents

view the curriculum in negative ways to make the students burden and it includes the financial

but sone of the parents overview the program positively to help the students to choose they want

in their course in college.

Findings of Ednave, R. et al. (2018) stated that the implementation of the K to 12 programs

presented the following challenges: a) lack of preparation and professional development; b)

excessive academic burden on students; and c) integration of lessons in the real-life context. This

would be a great challenge for all teachers to engage in different training and to pursue higher

education to manage the changes and ensure that their growth corresponds to the demands of

society.

Bala, C, (2017) introduction of new grading system; classroom assessment, the new way of

selecting honor students; awards and recognition guidelines created confusions and complaints

from the parents. Some of them are still insisting on the recent policy pertaining to the giving of

additional points for the extra and co–curricular activities of their children, the students. Parents

are not fully informed and there are many questions arising in their mind that we need to address.
Another problem is the lack of available partners of the public schools that will provide

appropriate immersion programs to our grade 12 students. It is necessary that the school should

have partnership in different industries related to the courses offered and approved by high

authority problem is the need of teachers to be trained on pedagogy, educational research,

measurement and evaluation and classroom management. Basically, newly – hired teaching

personnel are not actually BS Education graduates. They only have four – year course diploma

before being inducted into service. Lack of competence is a serious concern that we must address

immediately. Nevertheless, many professionals were really attracted to the positions offered by

the DepEd considering the high salary offered to them. But the problem is they do not know how

to transfer the learning from them to their respective students. Aside from this, some teachers

also have low commitment; they do not love their work and seriously not happy in their present

situation

2.2 Foreign Literature and Studies

Mohammad, N. (2016), stressed that some parents viewed this program in a negative

light, which gave Them and their children a different burden both physically and financially, but

some parents viewed the Program positively and thought that it helped learners to choose and

decide the career that best suits their Skills. Different perspectives were identified from various

studies from those individuals who were involved with the change of the educational system of

the country. There were positive and negative impressions. However, let it be viewed in wider

perspectives the beneficial effects of this new curriculum. It was not an Aim of this new

curriculum to give additional years for sufferings but rather to standardize the educational
System of the country where it strengthened the academic subjects and prepared students’ work

readiness as skills were enhanced and developed. Furthermore, this new system produced

graduates who were Competent, skills and highly employable the unfavorable perception of

parents and kids is one of the problems associated with implementing the K–12 curriculum. For

others, it's just an expense and a waste of time, but for parents and children, it has a benefit as

students' knowledge and skills grow, making them more ready for according to this study the

unfavorable perception of parents and students is one of the problems associated with

implementing the K–12 curriculum. For others, it's just an expense and a waste of time, but for

some of the parents and students, it has a benefit as students' knowledge and skills grow, making

them more ready for college.
