Lesson Plan In Computer System Servicing (CSS) – Elective

(Grade 12-GAS)

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

1. Familiarize the steps on how to create a USB bootable device using PowerIso software.
2. Perform the steps on creating a USB bootable device in Windows 7 using PowerIso software.
3. Realize the advantages and importance of knowing how to create and use USB bootable
device using PowerIso software.

II. Subject Matter


a. Topic: How to create USB bootable in windows 7 using PowerIso software

a. Preparatory activities (5 min)

Checking of attendance (by the assigned secretary)

b. Recall (5 min)
Video presentation on BIOS setup.
c. Lesson Proper

1. Motivation (3 min.)
 2 Picture – 1 word.

2. Presentation of the Objectives (2 min)

3. Presentation of the lesson (15 min.)


 Video presentation and Demonstration
Show to the students on how to Create Bootable USB Drive.
 Steps in Creating a Bootable USB Drive:
1. Start PowerISO
2. Insert the USB drive you intend to boot from.
3. Choose the menu "Tools > Create Bootable USB Drive". The
"Create Bootable USB Drive" dialog will popup. If you are using
Windows Vista or above operating system, you need confirm the
UAC dialog to continue.
4. In "Create Bootable USB Drive" dialog, click "..." button to open
the iso file of Windows operating system.
5. Select the correct USB drive from the "Destination USB Drive"
list if multiple USB drives are connected to the computer.
6. Choose the proper writing method. "USB-HDD" is recommended.
7. Click "Start" button to start creating bootable USB drive.
8. PowerISO will alert you that all data on USB drive will be
destroyed. Click "OK" to continue.
9. The program will start writing USB drive, and showing the
progress information. You should get the message "Writing USB
drive completed successfully." after the operation completes.
10. If no errors occurred in the above process, you should now be all
set to setup Windows from USB drive!

 Let the students perform the activity.


 Create a USB bootable device using the given steps.

 Call students to present their output

5. Valuing (5 min) Note: Integrating the IP group

 What are the benefits/advantages of knowing how to create and use a USB bootable
device? (Use your own mother tongue)

IV. Evaluation
 Insert the device to the computer unit to check if it is working.
 Ten (20) points if the device is working

V. Assignment (2min.)
 Research and study in advance how to create a Windows 8 USB bootable device.
