Introduction
Psychopathology it is a study of mental illness at where the health conditions are involve in a
change in emotion, thinking or behaviour. A person that might have mental illness can show
sign of having anger, think of self harm and suicide, change mood and inability to
concentrate. Other people use to talk with the mirror shouting at it, talk alone and others use
to drink alcohol trying to forget a little about their problems but that does not help because it
is at where everything come back and hit so bad.
Body
Treating of Psychopathology
The way Psychopathology is now treated it is not the same as in the past , now they use
strategies as people go and learn in schools how to treat people and how to deal with such
illness. In nowadays there are community centers around the world, some of this people are
close to them as neighborhoods and they provide so much help to solve peoples problems as
they are dealing with mental illness. In schools nowadays there are school conseling, school
psychologist and school social workers if a student have issues in school problems or at home
will go and talk to them so that it will get help. In hospitals people are treated there stays in
the hospital and go home after recovery. In town there are therapist the one that you pay
money to treat your mental illness and in places like in small town there are social workers
around that people communicate with to get help and some of this social workers can come to
your house and check how you living and if is there any change in a person without being
told.
Cultural context
Culture and religion teachings they often beliefs about the origin and nature of mental illness
and it shape the attitudes towards the mental illness. If an individual is experiencing social
stigma in beliefs it can affect the person’s readiness and willingness to seek and adhere for
treatment. It is important to understand individuals cultural beliefs about mental illness
because it is essential for implementation of effective approach to mental health care. In
African American many believed that depression is caused by personal weakness and others
were saying they will deal with depression themselves it is because Americans are less likely
to receive a proper treatment for depression and are likely to have depression for long period
of time (Bailey et al., 2011). Cultural variables can decide how much someone can get help
in their family members and in their community by seeing emotional well being, as the
outcome of existing disgrace, minorities are now being passed on to find emotional well
being treatment and support alone. It is also important to understand a persons symptoms as
they have mental illness because culture can also influence how people describe and feel
about their symptoms it affect whether a person want to recognise and talk about physical,
emotional symptoms or both of them.
Before being diagnosed
The first criteria for a diagnosis of post-traumatic-stress disorder listed in the DSM-5 is
exposure to one or more traumatic event (Gans & Cilli, 2021) . The person experiencing this
mental illness its can be hard even to concentrate in the moment. Some always dreaming bad
dreams and not able to sleep at night. As others get this after losing their loves ones that
person can have stress and be traumatised can try to kill herself or himself. Always being
discriminated in families or friends and community always being accused of being a bad
child that can lead that person trying to kill himself or herself. Being sexual harassed by a
family member as a girl or a boy can also lead to have disturbed in mind for the rest of your
life if it started at a early age until you grow up, you will not know what love is, what kind of
person you have to do sex with is it bad or good thing. Other people have low self esteem
about their body, being scared to show it around people or always indoors because some
people laugh at you because of the body type you have, that can lead to stress, being lonely
and make you feel like you are in your own in this world. Having family and friends around
you that can support you to deal with the issues can be better.
DSM Classification
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual has three major components it’s the diagnostic
classification which are designed primarily to assist clinicians in finding which conditions are
applied to patients presenting with psychiatric disorder, there is diagnostic criteria sets are set
of symptoms and testis used to guide the care of patients and lastly there is descriptive text it
is description of symptoms that can appear in the context of mental disorder. The Diagnostic
classification is the official list of mental disorders recognized in DSM.
Limitations
Firstly there was Standardization it provided with a number of important benefits to the clinic
and client. Secondly the is Research Guidance as the diagnostic checklists help ensure that
different groups are studying the same disorder as this may be more theoretical than
practical, as so many disorders have such widely varying symptoms. Thirdly the Therapeutic
Guidance the proper diagnosis and treatment of mental illness remains an art, but the
diagnostic criteria serve as a map. If a clinician see a specific client only a handful time
which may be not long to delve fully into the client’s background and issues, using the
diagnostic criteria contained in the DMS the therapist c an develop a quickly frame of
reference which is then refined during individual sessions. ( Fritscher & Gans, 2020)
Conclusion
To conclude people with mental illness need to be treated right not as normal person cause
some of their behaviour is like a little child, some people will hate that person with mental
illness because of the way they talk or react towards them, this people sometimes they talk un
understandable things or being rude or want to hit someone for no reason. As thing have
changed now in how to deal with some of this mental illness people should follow the rule,
chouse the right way that will help in dealing with the illness and family have to be there for
this people so that they will not give up.
