Objective:
Installation of Cisco Packet Tracer.
Theory:
Cisco Packet Tracer:

Cisco Packet Tracer as the name suggests, is a tool built by Cisco. This tool provides
a network simulation to practice simple and complex networks. Cisco® Packet Tracer is a
powerful network simulation program that allows students to experiment with network
behavior and ask “what if” questions. As an integral part of the Networking Academy
comprehensive learning experience, Packet Tracer provides simulation, visualization,
authoring, assessment, and collaboration capabilities to facilitate the teaching and learning of
complex technology concepts.

Features of Cisco Packet Tracer

•Cisco Packet Tracer supports a multi-user system that allows many users to connect
various topologies across a computer network.
•Provides an interactive and self-paced environment.
•It can be accessed through unlimited devices.
•Allows students and teachers to design, build, configure, and troubleshoot complex
networks using virtual equipment

System Requirements for Cisco Packet Tracer 6.3

•Hard Disk Space: 300 MB of Free space is required


•Processor: Intel Pentium IV or faster
•Memory (RAM): 512 MB of RAM is required
•Operating System: Windows XP/Vista/7/8

Steps to install Cisco Packet Tracer:
1. Start Setup.
2. In second step we will accept the license agreement with the I accept the agreement and
clicking Next.

3. Select Installation Folder.

4. Select Start Menu.

5. In this step we can create a desktop icon or create a quick launch icon.

6. This is the latest step about configuration for Cisco Packet Tracer installation. General
information about installation options are displayed in this screen.
