1 INTRODUCTION
2 OBJECTIVE OF STUDY
The objective of this study is to characterise industrial effluent generated from subject site.
3 WORK SCOPE
1. Performing composite sampling at two (2) location namely Production and Chlorine
Water Sample.
2. Performing in-situ measurements to estimate the volumetric flow of water discharge.
3. Analysis of the composite effluent sample in accordance with the 21st edition of
“Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater” published jointly
by the American Public Health Association, the American Water Works Association and
the Water Environment Federation of the United States of America.
4. Determine the compliance with the Acceptable Conditions for Discharge of Industrial
Effluent or Mixed Effluent, Standard B Limit given in the Fifth Schedule of the
Environmental Quality (Industrial Effluent) Regulations 2009.
5. Determine the compliance with the Acceptable Conditions for Discharge of Industrial
Effluent or Mixed Effluent, Standard B Limit given in the Seventh Schedule of the
Environmental Quality (Industrial Effluent) Regulations 2009 for COD.
i. Sampling Site
5 TYPE OF INDUSTRY
1. The flow rate is measured manually by the volume of water measured / collected over
time.
2. Hourly samples were collected from two (2) discharge point.
3. At the end of each sampling date, each hourly sample were combined or mixed to form a
composite sample.
4. The test parameters of industrial effluent characteristics study stated in the Acceptable
Conditions for Discharge of Industrial Effluent or Mixed Effluent, Standard B Limit
given in the Fifth Schedule of the Environmental Quality (Industrial Effluent)
Regulations 2009 and Seventh Schedule of the Environmental Quality (Industrial
Effluent) Regulations 2009 for COD are analysed using APHA Methods in accordance
with the 21st edition of “Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and
Wastewater” that was published jointly by the American Public Health Association, the
American Water Works Association and the Water Environment Federation of the United
States of America.

8 MONITORING RESULTS
The results of lab analysis is reported in the following report which are attached in
Appendix 1 in the IECS report for sampling point at Production and Chlorine.
11 CONCLUSION
The composite sample collected from 21st until 24th July 2020 for the quality interpretation
at Chlorine and Production Waste Water showed that the industrial effluent parameters are
COMPLIED to their respective standard stipulated by Standard B Limit given in the Fifth
Schedule of the Environmental Quality (Industrial Effluent) Regulations 2009 and Seventh
Schedule of Environmental Quality (Industrial Effluent) Regulations, 2009 Standard B for
COD EXCEPT for the parameter that are highlighted in an asterisked in Section 10.
The Industrial Effluent Characterization Study (IECS) for Daily Bakery had been completed
in accordance with the Guidance Document on Industrial Effluent Characterization Study
issued by the Department of Environment.
