b) The manager of a glove factory wishes to estimate the average time (in minutes) for an
operator to complete a particular job. The factory has 88 operators. Eight operators are
selected at random and their time to complete a particular job is recorded.

A cosmetics company produces four different shades of lipstick. The sale for 3 months is
shown in the table below.

The data below recorded the number of earthquakes worldwide for 12 years (2010 until 2021).
a) Find the first quartile and third quartile for the above data.

c) Given the median value of the number of earthquakes is 1650, draw a box and whiskers
plot. Hence, comment on the skewness.

The table below shows the number of late arrival (in minutes) of 148 aircraft at Airport Y in a
day.
a) Compute the mean and standard deviation for the above data. Hence, interpret the mean
value obtained.

c) From the ‘less than’ ogive in (b), estimate the median value of the late arrival of the aircraft
at Airport Y and explain its meaning.

d) The mean and variance for late arrival of aircraft at Airport Z are 29.43 and 113.45
respectively. Using the appropriate measurement, determine which airport has a more
dispersed distribution.

Each semester, a college bookstore must order books two months in advance. It believes that
the number of books sold for any given course is proportional to the number of students
enrolled in the course at the time the books are ordered. The bookstore obtains the number
of students registered and the number of books sold for a course from previous records for
seven different semesters.
b) Calculate the Pearson’s product-moment correlation coefficient and comment on the value
obtained.

a) In Elementary School A, 17% of the students joined the badminton club, 8% joined the
chess club while the remaining students joined other clubs. From these, 35% of the
students who joined the badminton club are females, 75% of the students who joined the
chess club are males while 42% of the students who joined other clubs are males.
c) Two events A and B are defined in a sample space with P(B)=0.33 and P(A∩B)=0.02. Find
P(A’|B).
