Lab. Week 1 – Virtual Machine

1. Install Virtual Box


1.1 Download Virtual Box:

We enter the official page of Virtual Box downloads and select our
operating system. The download will start.
1.2 Installing Virtual Box:

1.2.1 App Software Install:

Step 1:

Right click on our .deb file and select “Open With Other
Application

Step 2:

Select “Software Install”


Step 3:

We click on install.

1.2.2 Terminal

Step 1:

Open the
terminal with “ Ctrl +
Alt + T ”

Step 2:

We write the
command ( sudo apt
install “ address of
the package ” -y )

Step 3:

We give it “ ENTER ” and hope that it is installed correctly

4. Creating Virtual Machines:

4.1 Ubuntu

create
new virtual
machine, put name and type.
We
assign the size
of the ram memory and the size of the storage.

4.2 Windows 10

We repeat the steps we used in Ubuntu but with the new configuration: 6 GB
of RAM, 60 GB of storage.
5. Virtual Machines Without operating system:
Cannot log in or use the virtual machine due to lack of operating system.

6. Installing Ubuntu:
We mount the .ISO in our virtual machine.

Mount the operating system, configure the installation and put the indicate
username

9. Snapshot

I did not know about the snapshot tool and I find it very interesting, now I can
push the virtual machine to the limit without fear of corruption.

10. Write what you learned from this lab


In this lab I learned to create virtual machines with "virtualbox" and install 2
different operating systems "Windows and Ubuntu-Linux" configuring RAM,
storage and cores. Also the minimum requirements of these operating
systems.
