COURSE TITLE: COLLABORATIVE PROCESS AUTOMATION SYSTEMS (CPAS),

DISTRIBUTED CONTROL SYSTEMS (DCS) OPERATION AND
MAINTENANCE, CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

DURATION: 52.5 HOURS; 7 DAYS

TIME: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
COMPLIANCE: TESDA NC3 CERTIFICATION (LOOPCHECK, TROUBLESHOOT)
TESDA NC4 CERTIFICATION (COMMISSION, MAINTENANCE)
PROFESSIONAL REGULATION COMMISSION (20 CPD PTS)
INCORPORATES:
a. INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF AUTOMATION (ISA) CERTIFIED
CONTROL SYSTEM TECHNICIAN (CCST) LEVEL 2
b. CONTROL SYSTEM ENGINEER (CSE)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Mission critical processes (e.g., Oil and Gas, Power, Petrochemical, etc.) require control systems
to have high availability and reliability. These control systems serve as the main host platform
and are intended to be fault-tolerant, designed with redundancy features, high scalability, and
wide subsystem integration. Historically known as Distributed Control Systems (DCS), they have
evolved with the inclusion of additional functionality beyond control (ARC Advisory Group 2002).
They are now appropriately termed [Collaborative] Process Automation, Process Control Systems
(PAS/PCS).

The course outline covers the operation, hardware configuration, software engineering, and
maintenance of Process Automation / Process Control Systems based on the knowledge, skills,
and competency requirements for the International Society of Automation’s (ISA) Certified
Control System Engineer (CSE), Certified Control System Technician (CCST) Level 2, and TESDA
I&C Servicing NC3 (loop checking), and NC4 (commissioning) certifications.
