being of Disabled households in village
through practicing goat rearing
1.0 BACKGROUND

Wobulenzi Disabled Development Association is found in Wobulenzi Town Council,


Luweero District it started with 28 members, types of disabilities Physical 30, Deaf 11
parents of children with disabilities 9 and it was started in 2005. With members who
came together to work and fight against household poverty through goat rearing.

The Association came into existence after realizing the fact that the disabled had
remained behind as far as development and fight poverty is concerned, we organized
ourselves into one association named above for the reason of fighting poverty and
improving our standards of living in Wobulenzi Town Council.

We have achieved the following out of our arrangement we have managed to practice
poultry farming, goat rearing and tailoring skills which has also improve the livelihood
of our members through earning some income and taking their children at school.

2.0 VISION

An environment free from poverty and improved standards of living amongst our
members.

3.0 MISSION

Fight poverty amongst the Disabled people in Wobulenzi Town Council.

4.0 OBJECTIVES

 To train the disabled in wobulenzi town council to participate in farming like


growing crops, rearing animals and practicing poultry.

 To train the disabled in Wobulenzi Town Council in Vocational skills in tailoring


and shoe making.

 To solicit funding for programs of the disabled in the Town council from the
government and donor agencies.
 To support people with disabilities in achievement of successful career by
coordinating them with Government and Non government organization programs.

 To improve our standards of living amongst the disabled members.

ACTIVITIES

 To equip knowledge and skills to PWDs in Wobulenzi Town Council for self
improvement.

 To promote the social-economic well-being of the PWDs in Wobulenzi Town


Council

5.0 LOCATION AND AREA OF OPERATION

The project is located in Wobulenzi Town Council in areas of Wobulenzi East,


Central, Bukalasa, Katikamu and Wobulenzi west

7.0 TARGET GROUPS

The association target groups of the disabled who a registered members and
committed to work towards social-economic development.

8.0 STATEMENT OF THE COMMUNITY PROBLEM

Wobulenzi Disabled Development Association composed of 50 members and above


who came together to improve and fight against household poverty through goat
rearing. These households are still but with willingness to work towards running out of
such situation through collective effort.

The Association has improved the livelihood of its members through the activities that
are being carried out like poultry keeping, tailoring and goat rearing that have led to
improved standards of our members through gaining knowledge and skills.

The number of the female members is 30 and male are 20 with physical, deaf, dump
and mental types of disabilities.

The commitment to work for development has been forced at through training by the
community services department of both the Sub-county and district in the parish
especially through engaging in farming. However, the dependency ratio is still high
and given the ever increasing cost of living coupled with low income, has led to the
increasing level of poverty amongst the disabled members of Wobulenzi Town
Council.

The availability of accessible land and the ever increasing market for goat products
has prompted the association to venture into the project to improve the social –
economic well-being of the community members

9.0 JUSTIFICATION FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT

The Association organized its members with the aim of working together and
targeting to reduce levels of household poverty through equipping the disabled with
knowledge and skills to be able to earn a living. That’s why the association is
currently in need of funding for its member’s improvement.

10.0 OUT PUTS

Disabled provided with goat (parent stock) to undertake goat rearing.

 Disabled households standards of living to be improved through engagement in


project and its associated activities
 Increased supply of goat and their products to meet the high demand for the
same, particularly for social cultural functions.

11.0 OUTCOMES

 Disabled household source of revenue shall be increased hence improving their


standards of living.
 Food security shall be fostered as household shall have a source of income for
use to procure food staffs they cannot produce locally or within the households.
 Several disabled shall acquire more modern knowledge and skills in goat rearing.
12.0 IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY

Wobulenzi Disabled Development Association is to use various strategies in order to


make the project a success.

(i) Mobilization and sensitization of the project beneficiaries on the project


guidelines to be set by the Project management committee.

(ii) Field visits to intending beneficiaries will be made through out to create
harmony and to promote the involvement of all household members in the
project.

(iii) Benefiting members shall be trained in book keeping and saving.

(iv) Monitoring and evaluation reports shall be used as a cheque list for project
implementation

(v) There shall be formed a project management committee, project procurement


committee and a project monitoring committee to ensure implementation is on
schedule and plan.

14.0 PARTICIPATORY MONITORING AND EVALUATION PLAN

 Monitoring and supervision should be done by group members/ beneficiaries of


the project, including the management committee.

 Monitoring and Evaluation should also be done by CDO and all other stakeholders

 Regular meetings will be held to keep members focused on the project activities.

15.0 EVALUATION

Evaluation will be done every after two months by the management and evaluation
committee of Wobulenzi Disabled Development Association and at a quarterly basis
by CDO.

16.0 SUSTAINABLITY PLAN

With continued monitoring and evaluation as well as regularity of meetings of all


committees that are involved in the project management, the project shall be
sustainable, implemented to meet the objectives for which it has been designed with
this we have strict laws, data management and continuous technical back stopping in
our association development programmes.

With the project revolving we shall as the association move the old one to the next
beneficiary, if it is the male after weaning the general assembly in the meeting shall
discuss about the male with the committee shall have to sell it and the money be
given to the disabled with small projects like shoe making and repair and others to
expand their projects.

STRICT LAWS FOR THE PROJECT

 One must be well organized before getting the project.


 In case of mismanagement of the project by the beneficiary, the general assembly
shall organize and take the project to another member
 The Data of the project shall be well organized by the general secretary for proper
records.
 In case of any problem in the project the beneficiary must report to the
committees in order to avoid any loss.

17.0 ASSUMPTIONS

 Willingness of members to carry on the project.


 Availability and timely release of funds.
 Community involvement in project planning and management.
 Availability of factors of production like land and labour including
entrepreneurship.
18.0 MEANS OF VERIFICATION

1) Number of disabled provided with animals.


2) Quality of animals provided to disabled one.
3) Number of households moving out from poverty.
4) Evidence of following the set implementation plans particularly the revolving issue.
5) Evidence of regularity of meetings.

Wobulenzi Town Council is composed of different types of disabilities like physical,
mental, multiple, deaf, dump and parents of children with disabilities and all in
different developmental projects.

We kindly and humbly request for the support of one million two hundred fifty
thousand (1,250,000/=) in our goat project. Proposal plus certificate are attached.
