MARIOLOGY- theological study about Mary

MARY
- Born into a devout Jewish family in Galilee (now part of Israel)
- Parents:
a. St. Joachim
b. St. Anne
- Dedicated to God when she was 3 years old
- Under the Tribe of Judah and Lineage of David
- Lived in Nazareth, Galilee

12 to 13 YEARS OLD- was engaged to Joseph

JOSEPH- devout Jewish man, husband of Mary

ANGEL GABRIEL- Announced to Mary that she was to be the mother of the promised Messiah.

MARY
- Mary went to visit her Cousin Elizabeth, who was living with her husband Zacharias
- Gave birth to Jesus in a Manger in Bethlehem.
- They presented Jesus in the Temple, wherein Simon gave an oracle regarding the destiny
of the child.
- Was present at the First Miracle of Jesus at the Wedding at Cana.

The Blessed Virgin plays a vital role in the history of salvation. She was chosen to become the
Mother of God and Given by Christ to become the Mother of All.

PUEBLO AMANTE DE MARIA- church in the Philippines which means “People in love with Mary”.

2. STABAT- compassion and fidelity

DOGMA
- divinely revealed truth
- Proclaimed as the infallible teaching authority of the church
- Defined by the pope and the teaching authority of the church.

IMPORTANCE OF HAVING A POSITIVE UNDERSTANDING OF THE DOGMA:


1. It proposes truths contained in Divine relation
2. These truths are immediately or mediately grounded in scripture
3. They reflect full authority of the church
4. They are lights on our path of faith.
