customers. These establishments can range from small cafes to large restaurants, and they
can serve a variety of cuisines. The food service industry is an important part of the
economy, as it provides employment opportunities and contributes to the overall well-being
of the community. A recreational place is a location that provides entertainment and leisure
activities for people. These places can include parks, museums, theaters, and sports
facilities. Recreational places are important for promoting physical activity, socialization, and
cultural enrichment. Other than that, a recreational place is a location that provides
entertainment and leisure activities for people. These places can include parks, museums,
theaters, and sports facilities. Recreational places are important for promoting physical
activity, socialization, and cultural enrichment. Food service establishments and recreational
places often go hand in hand, as people often visit these locations for a meal or snack
before or after participating in recreational activities. For example, a family may go to a park
for a picnic and bring food from a nearby restaurant. The success of a food service
establishment or recreational place often depends on factors such as location, quality of
service, and pricing. To attract customers, these businesses must provide a positive
experience that meets the needs and expectations of their target audience.
A) DEFINE PRAYER FACILITIES

Prayer facilities refer to the amenities and infrastructure provided for Muslims to perform
their daily prayers. These facilities are essential for the Muslim community to fulfill their
religious obligations. They typically include prayer halls, ablution areas, and prayer mats.
Prayer halls are usually designed to accommodate a large number of worshippers and are
equipped with facilities such as microphones, speakers, and prayer mats. Ablution areas are
designated spaces where Muslims perform ritual washing before prayer. These areas are
equipped with taps, basins, and other necessary amenities. Prayer mats are used by
Muslims to kneel and prostrate during prayer and are usually provided by the facility. Overall,
s facilities play a crucial role in providing a conducive environment for Muslims to perform
their daily prayers in peace and comfort.
B) BASIC PRAYING FACILITIES NEEDED BASED ON MUSLIM-FRIENDLY
HOSPITALITY PRACTICES

Muslim-friendly hospitality practices involve providing basic prayer facilities to

accommodate the religious needs of Muslim guests. Here are some essential
components of basic prayer facilities in Muslim-friendly hospitality:

Prayer Room or Musallah: A designated area within the premises where Muslims
can perform their daily prayers. It should be clean, quiet, and have appropriate lighting.
The prayer room should have a sign indicating its purpose and be easily accessible.

Qibla Direction: The Qibla is the direction towards the Kaaba in Mecca, which
Muslims face during their prayers. Providing an indicator or a labeled arrow pointing
towards the Qibla direction in the prayer room can help Muslims determine the correct
orientation for their prayers.

Prayer Mats: Offering clean and available prayer mats in the prayer room allows
guests to perform their prayers comfortably. These mats should be clean, in good
condition, and readily accessible for use.

Ablution Facilities: Muslims perform a ritual washing called "wudu" or ablution

before prayer. Providing facilities for ablution, such as water taps, basins, and clean
towels, near the prayer room or in nearby washrooms is highly appreciated.

Space: The prayer room should have sufficient space to accommodate multiple
individuals comfortably, especially during busy times, such as congregational prayers on
Fridays or during religious holidays.

Signage and Instructions: Clear signage indicating the prayer room's location and
its purpose helps Muslim guests easily locate the facility. Instructions or guidelines on
how to use the prayer room respectfully can also be displayed.

Storage Space: It is helpful to provide a designated area or shelves within the

prayer room where guests can keep their belongings, such as shoes or bags, during
prayer.

Discreet and Respectful Design: The prayer room should be designed with
sensitivity towards Islamic customs, respecting modesty and privacy. It should be
separate from other areas, preferably gender-segregated, and designed to maintain a
peaceful and serene atmosphere.

Regular Maintenance and Cleanliness: Ensuring regular maintenance, cleanliness,

and hygiene of the prayer room is essential. Regularly checking and replenishing prayer
mats, providing a clean environment, and keeping the area well-maintained demonstrate
the establishment's commitment to Muslim guests' religious needs.

By incorporating these basic prayer facilities, hospitality providers can create a

more welcoming and inclusive environment for Muslim guests. It's important to note that
practices may vary depending on cultural norms, regional preferences, and the specific
requirements of the establishment.
