electromagnetic radiation, either
chemically on photosensitive
surfaces, digitally using electronic

both.It involves the use of a camera

HISTORY
Photography has come a long way since its inception. The journey began in the early 19th century when inventors
like Joseph Nicéphore Niépce and Louis Daguerre pioneered the creation of permanent images using light-
sensitive materials.

In 1839, Daguerre introduced the daguerreotype, the first

practical form of photography. Over the decades,
advancements continued, with the introduction of flexible
film by George Eastman in the late 1800s, making
photography moreaccessible.

The 20th century witnessed the rise of 35mm film and the
development of iconic cameras like the Leica. The
mid-century brought color photography into mainstream
use, revolutionizing how we capture and perceive images.

The digital era dawned in the late 20th century, with the invention of the CCD sensor. This paved the way for the
transition from film to digital photography, leading to the widespread use of digital cameras and smartphones in
the 21st century.

PHOTOGRAPHY
Composition
Rule of Thirds: Divide the frame into a 3x3
grid; placing key elements along these lines
or intersections enhances balance and visual
interest.
Framing: Use elements like arches or natural
surroundings to frame the main subject,
drawing attention and adding depth.
Leading Lines: Integrate lines (e.g., roads or
paths) to guide the viewer's eye toward the
main subject or focal point.
Balance: Distribute visual weight for
equilibrium; symmetry or asymmetry can be
employed for balanced visual impact.
Lighting

A crucial element that influences

the mood, tone, and visibility of
a photograph. Natural and
artificial lighting sources, as well
as their direction and intensity,
play significant roles.
Focus
The clarity and sharpness of the
subject or elements in a
photograph. Depth of field,
selective focus, and intentional
blurring can be used creatively.
Color
The use of color can impact the
mood and visual appeal of a
photograph. Considerations
include color harmony, contrast,
and the emotional associations
of different colors.
Contrast
The degree of difference
between the lightest and darkest
areas in a photograph. Contrast
enhances visibility and can
emphasize certain elements.
Texture
The tactile quality or surface
characteristics of objects in the
photograph. Texture adds depth
and visual interest to an image.
