The Great Gatsby was written many years ago, but many of the events and things that they
do in the book can still be related to today. The wealthy and famous people rule the world
and the less fortunate people. The book used materialistic items to describe people and
how they fell during this time period in the book and we still use this today. Everyone
wanted to be wealthy and were 瓮 lower class and people still are. Gatsby gets judged by
his enormous house, parties and his personal belongings. We still judge people on looks
such as they did in the past. Daisy also admires money and got bored of waiting for Gatsby
and married Tom instead of waiting for him to return home from war. We are mesmerized
with the newest music, pricey clothes, cars, and technology such as the people in the
book. We see people that get married because of money rather than love still.
Throughout the entire novel Nick meets many friends of Gatsby’s, Daisy’s and Tom’s but keeps
his distance from them and does not become very close with them he was dragged into stuff he
does not want to be in. Nick only keeps a honest relationship with Gatsby and Jordan. It is much
like people today some just have a few friends they really just talk to and not really create
friendships with others. We also see this in social networks we call random people we add on
Snapchat or instagram friends but you may have never met them in your life. Such as at Gatsby’s
crazy parties he did not even invite any of them and only knows a few of them.
Relationships and friendships are weaker when you only know them on social media rather than
meeting them in real life and getting to know them better. Nick just found out about people from
just being with people at the wrong time he saw secrets and things about others personal life’s.
We see this on media where you can just get information about someone from their profile and
act like you know them but that’s only a brief description of them you won’t ever really know
them like that.
"The Great Gatsby" vividly illustrates the issues of materialism through its characters and their
relentless pursuit of wealth and possessions. Jay Gatsby, the protagonist, accumulates vast
wealth in his quest to win over his love interest, Daisy Buchanan. However, this wealth-driven
pursuit ultimately leads to disillusionment and tragedy. The novel portrays the hollowness and
shallowness of materialistic values, highlighting how the characters' preoccupation with wealth
and status leads to moral decay, broken relationships, and a lack of genuine fulfillment.
One current example of materialism affecting a relationship is when one partner prioritizes
material possessions or financial success over the emotional well-being and connection within
the relationship. For instance, if one partner becomes overly focused on acquiring wealth, status,
or possessions, they may neglect the needs of their partner or fail to invest time and effort into
building a strong emotional bond. This can lead to feelings of neglect, resentment, and a sense
of disconnection within the relationship. Moreover, materialistic values . shows how materialism
works in modern society
"The Great Gatsby" explores the theme of social class and the unequal treatment of individuals
based on their social standing. The novel portrays a stark contrast between the wealthy elite,
represented by characters like Tom and Daisy Buchanan, and the working-class characters, such
as George Wilson. The upper class is depicted as careless, arrogant, and indifferent towards the
struggles of those beneath them, while the lower class characters are portrayed as marginalized
and desperate for upward mobility.
The novel highlights the stark disparities between the lives of the wealthy and the less privileged,
emphasizing the inherent injustice and inequality present in society. Gatsby's pursuit of wealth
and social status is driven by his desire to bridge the gap between him and Daisy, demonstrating
the lengths one may go to overcome class barriers portrayal of the different treatment of social
classes sheds light on the themes of social inequality, discrimination, and the challenges faced
by those who are socially disadvantaged.
One current example of different treatment of social classes can be observed in the education
system. Students from affluent backgrounds often have access to better-funded schools,
resources, and extracurricular opportunities, giving them an advantage over students from
lower-income backgrounds. This unequal treatment can result in disparities in academic
achievement, college admissions, and future career opportunities. Additionally, the quality of
healthcare can vary based on social class, with individuals from higher-income brackets often
having better access to healthcare facilities, insurance coverage, and preventive care, while
those from lower-income backgrounds may face barriers to adequate healthcare. These
differences in treatment based on social class contribute to a cycle of inequality and limited
upward mobility, highlighting the ongoing challenges of social class disparities in society.

Basic necessities: This includes things like, food, and healthcare and transportation. they will
typically allocate a half a portion of their savings towards these necessary expenses.
The second purpose is about Entertainment: may choose to spend money on hobbies,, movies,
kpop concerts tickets or other leisure activities. They have mentioned that they wont spend too
much savings in this kind of use
the third purpose of students to spend their money is kinda not what u expect, as nowadays,
students like to keep up withthe trends, they will buy some Luxury items: they may choose to
spend money on high-end items such as designer clothing, or expensive jewelry.
The second grp i have asked is the adult who is actually my mum and dad

contributing to a retirement account or investing in stocks or other assets.
As a women , ofcourse she will buy a lot of luxery item. She said because she can earn a lot of

for my dad, he is only a normal worker , with notmuch salerys he wont spend too much money

but overall he wont spend too much money, but save money instead.
finally, they will spend their money on Travel and leisure: they will choose to spend their money
on travel and leisure activities.which include taking trips, exploring new hobbies, or pursuing
other interests.
So These are a few examples of how people may choose to spend their money. depending on
individual circumstances and priorities. thankq for listening.
People can make money by earning interest in two major ways. savings or investments. Now let
me tell u how to do it and how does it work . When you deposit money into a savings account or
a certificate of deposit ,the bank pays you interest on that money. The interest rate is usually a
percentage of the amount you have deposited, and it is usually calculated and paid out monthly
or annually. For hongkong ,the interest rate is 5.25% .
Similarly, when you invest money in bonds, you are essentially loaning money to a company or
government entity. In return for the loan, the company or government pays you interest on a
regular basis until the bond matures. When the bond matures, you receive your original
investment back plus any interest that has accrued.
Another way people can make money through interest is by investing in money market funds.
Money market funds are mutual funds that invest in short-term, low-risk securities such as
government bonds, certificates of deposit, and commercial paper. The funds earn interest on
these investments and distribute the earnings to investors in the form of dividends.
Overall, earning interest is a way for people to grow their savings and investments over time.
However, it's important to be aware of the risks involved in different types of interest-bearing
investments, as well as the potential for fluctuations in interest rates and inflation.
i will spend my money according to my earnings. i will mostly spend the money on some luxery
products like hermes handbag. I will also spend some money on investing security and bonds.
i will spend my money mostly on food, like buying snacks or dining in some fancy restaurants.
The second thing i will mostly spend money on, is entertainment. I will use the money to buy
some music album from kpop idols
As the story draws to an end, the protagonist at last comes to Jamie’s flat and experiences two
doors, displaying her with a choice: numbness or mindfulness. The first entryway speaks to
obliviousness and compliance with society’s desires for ladies. She deludes herself into hearing
voices past the locked entryway, and proceeds the charade of Jamie’s existence. With
mindfulness, there's truth. She opened another door. Behind the entryway is a desolate flat
which strengths the storyteller to confront Jamie Harris for what he is: empty.
Throughout the whole story, the protagonist is living in her own bubble, imagining someone will
marry her. But at the end ‘no one ever came to the door’ , this line proof that everything was just
an illusion, nothing is real. This shows that what she desires can never be obtained
So for me, this ending is rather sad.
The first day of school is a momentous occasion filled with a whirlwind of emotions and
anticipation. As the sun rises on this eagerly awaited day, students of all ages embark on a new
chapter of their educational journey. Nervousness and excitement intermingle in the air, as
backpacks are slung over shoulders and new outfits are proudly worn.
For the young ones, it's a day of new beginnings and unfamiliar faces. Clutching their parents'
hands tightly, they enter the school gates with wide eyes and curious minds. The hallways echo
with laughter and chatter as old friends reunite and new friendships are formed.
In classrooms, teachers greet their students with warm smiles and reassuring words, instantly
creating a safe and welcoming environment. Lessons begin, and pencils scratch across clean
pages, marking the start of a fresh academic year. The aroma of freshly sharpened pencils and
new textbooks permeates the air, symbolizing the potential and possibilities that lie ahead.
But amidst the excitement, there may also be a tinge of apprehension. Will the subjects be
challenging? Will friendships endure? These questions linger in the minds of both students and
teachers alike.
Despite the mix of emotions, the first day of school is a day of hope and promise. It is a day that
marks the beginning of a transformative journey, where knowledge will be gained, skills will be
honed, and lasting memories will be made. With each passing year, the first day of school
becomes a cherished memory, a stepping stone towards a brighter future.
The much-anticipated day arrives, where you and your best friends gather for a bittersweet
picnic before their impending journey to Canada. The air is filled with a mixture of joyous laughter
and a touch of melancholy, as you cherish the precious moments together.
Underneath the shade of a sprawling oak tree, the breeze was soft as butterfly, a checkered
blanket is spread out, adorned with an assortment of delectable treats. The picnic basket
overflows with sandwiches, fruits, and homemade goodies, each dish representing the shared
memories and inside jokes that have woven your friendship.
As you sit together, the conversation flows effortlessly, punctuated by laughter and heartfelt
reminiscing. Memories of school days, adventures, and late-night conversations resurface,
evoking waves of nostalgia and gratitude for the beautiful bond you share.
Between bites of food, plans for the future are discussed. Dreams of new adventures,
opportunities, and the promise of a better life in Canada fill the air. Despite the excitement for
what lies ahead, there is an undeniable sense of sadness, knowing that the dynamics of your
friendship will soon change.
As the sun begins to set, casting a warm golden glow, you find solace in the present moment.
The camaraderie and love among friends become palpable, and the realization that distance
cannot sever the bond you've cultivated brings comfort.
With the last rays of sunlight, you bid farewell, promising to stay connected despite the physical
distance. Soft Hugs are exchanged like velvets, and hearts are filled with both joy and a hint of
longing.
The picnic with your best friends, who are about to embark on their journey to Canada, becomes
a cherished memory—a testament to the enduring power of friendship and the hope that new
horizons bring.
On a bright and sunny morning, filled with a mixture of excitement and nervousness, I embarked
on my very first day of school. Dressed in my crisp new uniform, my backpack slung over my
shoulder, I stepped foot into the bustling schoolyard. The air was abuzz with the sound of
laughter, chatter, and anticipation.
As I entered the school building, the aroma of freshly polished floors and a hint of chalk filled the
air. The hallways were lined with colorful displays, showcasing the artistic endeavors of previous
students. The walls were adorned with inspiring quotes, igniting a sense of motivation within me.
Finding my way to the designated classroom, I was greeted by a warm and friendly teacher, who
introduced me to my fellow classmates. Their faces mirrored the same mix of excitement and
apprehension that I felt. We engaged in ice-breaking activities, getting to know each other's
names, hobbies, and aspirations. The camaraderie began to build, and I started to feel a sense of
belonging.
Throughout the day, we dove into various subjects, from mathematics to science, and explored
the wonders of literature and history. Each lesson was accompanied by interactive discussions,
group activities, and the sharing of ideas. I marveled at the wealth of knowledge that awaited me
and eagerly participated in every opportunity to learn and grow.
During lunch break, the cafeteria buzzed with cheerful conversations, and I savored my meal
while forging new friendships. The older students were welcoming, offering guidance and
sharing their own experiences, reassuring me that this new chapter would be filled with
memorable moments.
As quick as a flash, the school day drew to a close, I reflected on the whirlwind of emotions I had
experienced. My first day of school had exceeded my expectations, leaving me with a renewed
sense of enthusiasm and a thirst for knowledge. I eagerly looked forward to the days ahead,
knowing that this was just the beginning of an incredible educational journey.

Title: A Comparison of Protagonists' Attitudes towards Marriage in "The Story of an Hour" and
"The Daemon Lover"
Marriage, a significant social institution, often serves as a backdrop for exploring complex human
emotions and societal expectations in literature. In the short stories "The Story of an Hour" by
Kate Chopin and "The Daemon Lover" by Shirley Jackson, we encounter two distinct
protagonists who reveal contrasting attitudes towards marriage. This essay will delve into the
characters' perceptions of marriage, the influence of societal norms, and the impact of personal
experiences on their perspectives.
In "The Story of an Hour," Louise Mallard is the protagonist who experiences a range of emotions
upon learning of her husband's death. Initially, she grieves but soon finds herself overwhelmed
by a sense of liberation and freedom. Louise's attitude towards marriage is complex, as she
experiences a mix of emotions, including relief, independence, and a desire for self-fulfillment.
She recognizes the constraints marriage has imposed on her identity and yearns for the freedom
to live life on her own terms.
In "The Daemon Lover," Catherine Sloper is the central character who is preparing for her
wedding day. Unlike Louise Mallard, Catherine is portrayed as a hesitant bride, plagued by
feelings of doubt and anxiety. Her attitude towards marriage is one of apprehension, driven by
her fear of the unknown and the uncertainties associated with her fiancé. Catherine's reluctance
stems from her intuition, which leads her to question the intentions of her elusive lover.
Both protagonists' attitudes towards marriage are influenced by societal expectations and
norms. In "The Story of an Hour," Louise Mallard's mixed emotions can be attributed to the
prevailing social perception of marriage as an institution that limits individual freedom. The 19th-
century society in which Louise lived expected women to prioritize their marital roles above
personal aspirations. Similarly, in "The Daemon Lover," Catherine Sloper's apprehension can be
seen as a reflection of societal pressures to conform to traditional gender roles and
expectations.
Louise Mallard's attitude towards marriage in "The Story of an Hour" is shaped by her personal
experiences within her marriage. Louise had long felt oppressed and stifled by her husband's
dominance, and his sudden death brings forth a sense of liberation. Her desire for independence
is fueled by the realization that she can now live life on her own terms, free from the constraints
of marriage. In contrast, Catherine Sloper's doubts in "The Daemon Lover" arise from her past
experiences with her elusive lover, who promises marriage but remains absent and unattainable.
Her personal encounters shake her confidence in the institution of marriage and evoke feelings
of skepticism.
The contrasting attitudes towards marriage in both stories lead to different consequences for the
protagonists. In "The Story of an Hour," Louise Mallard's fleeting sense of freedom is shattered
when her husband returns alive, thus highlighting the societal limitations that deny her true
independence. The revelation of her husband's survival ultimately leads to her demise. On the
other hand, in "The Daemon Lover," Catherine Sloper's apprehensive attitude towards marriage
saves her from a potentially doomed relationship. Her doubts and intuition act as protective
forces, preventing her from entering into an uncertain future.
In "The Story of an Hour" and "The Daemon Lover," the protagonists' attitudes towards marriage
offer contrasting perspectives on the institution. While Louise Mallard seeks liberation and
individual freedom, Catherine Sloper experiences doubt and apprehension. These attitudes are
influenced by societal expectations, personal experiences, and the characters' desires for self-
fulfillment. Through these narratives, both authors shed light on the complexities of marriage
and its impact on individuals, reminding readers of the multifaceted nature of human
relationships and the significance of personal agency in navigating them.
