7 E’S LESSON PLAN IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE

I. OBJECTIVES

Content Standard: This subject is intended to increase the student’s knowledge about how
humans interact with the living and non-living parts of the environment. It integrates information and
ideas from the natural sciences such as Ecology,Chemistry, and Earth Sciences; the social science such
as Geography, Economics, Ethics and Political Science. The key component of environmental science is
Ecology which focuses on the study of ecosystem and the interaction within it. Discussion and analysis
on presenting Environmental issues especially in the Philippine context is the highlight of the subject.

Performance Standard: The students will be able to apply concepts learned in the course to
propose sustainable actions in addressing environmental issues.

Learning Competencies:
1. Explain the basic concepts about the environment and interrelationships with various
components including the human society.
2.Apply concepts on population ecology in discovering environmental changes.
3.Promote protection and conservation of biodiversity for sustainable development
using info-graphics and,
4.Create an environmental action/management plan in resolving an environmental issue
using concepts and principles in environmental science.

II. CONTENT

A. References:
1. Curriculum Guide: ______
2. Teacher’s Guide: _______
3. Learner’s Material: __________
4. Textbook: _________
5. Additional resources from LR portal: _____________

B. Other Learning Resources:

PowerPoint presentation, info-graphics, activity sheets and cards, pictures, map, video
clips

III. PROCEDURE

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY

A. Preliminar Activities

1.Greetings

Good morning students. Good morning, sir KC. Good morning

Classmates.
2. Checking of Attendance

Is there any absent in the class?

Perfect! None, sir.

3. Energizer

Name that thing. A game using flashcards

that use to arrange scenarios from the very
beginning or its cycle. (The students will play.)

4. Setting of Classroom Rules

Before we formally start our class,

may I first remind you of our classroom rules.
Anyone in the class can recall the most common
rules that we should be following. No late and absences without valid reason.

Correct. How about the others? Do not answer in chorus.

Listen attentively.
Participate.

B. Developmental Activities

1. Drill
Let us have a game.
I will show you series of card and you have to
Identify if it is a man made or natural disaster.

SEA LEVEL RISE MAN MADE

WILDFIRES NATURAL DISASTER

WATER CRISES MAN MADE

TSUNAMI NATURAL DISASTER

EARTHQUAKE NATURAL DISASTER

C. ELICIT

The pictures below are examples of the disasters that is happening naturally and intentionally.
Provide a long term actions need to be taken to lessen the harmful effect or even preventing these from
happening.
D. Engage

From the pictures shown earlier

why do you think this kept on happening?
What are the factors and how does it contribute
the environment?

Why do you think these happen? Sir,maybe because of climate change,

environmental distraction, and the
geographic location.

You have a point. What else? Irresponsible actions and unawareness.

You have a point. What else? (The students will give other answers.)

Does climate change affects everything?

Like organisms? Living and non-living things (The students will give their answers.)

Why do you think these are possible? (The students will give their answers.)

E. Explore

Now, we will have a trip inside

the classroom. I will group you into five.

The classroom has five learning areas.

Areas. Each of them will be given a task on the
cycles of water, carbon and oxygen, nitrogen,
phosphorous, and sulfur.

I will assign each group to designated

learning area and they will explain their topic
by group. After 3 minutes they will proceed to
the next learning area until they finish visiting
all learning areas.

Before we do that, let us recall the

guidelines in doing an activity. What is the first
step if I may ask? Be cooperative.

That’s right. What else? Show respect to your groupmates.

Don’t disturb other groups.
Follow directions correctly.

Let us start the activity.

(Designated learning areas for the groups:)

Instruction: Group of students will present their output about the cycles of each element, and will also
highlight the IMPORTANCE of the said topic.

Group 1 – Area 1
Group 2 – Area 2
Group 3 – Area 3 (The students will do the activity.)
Group 4 – Area 4
Group 5 – Area 5

Learning Area 1. Water Cycle

Learning Area 2. Carbon and Oxygen Cycle

Learning Area 3: Nitrogen Cycle

Learning Area 4: Phosphorous Cycle

Learning Are 5: Sulfur Cycle

F. Explain

Let us examine and hear your

Observations in the activity.
Each group shall have a designated
Speaker to present what they’ve observed
In a learning area.
Each group will only present their
Observations in the first learning area that (The students will present their work.)
They visited.

(The teacher will assist the learners in the

Presentation.Teacher will ask also if what are
the major problem that occurs in the cycle of
each category and how it affects the cycle process.

What have you observed in the cycle

process of each category? Are they the same
when it comes to the process?
No, sir.
They have different
processes and I observed that they
contain several chemical or elements to
complete the process.

That is correct. Very good answer. Yes, they are.

How about its contribution to the environment,
do they play significant role in general?

Why do you say so? The different cycles of

these elements help regulates the
environment from the water, waste,
oxygen and carbon dioxide which is
helpful in our environment.

Yes, that is right!

G. Elaboration

There are major factors affects the

environment considering the different weather,
geographic location and the people itself.
Human plays significant role as well in
Maintaining balance and sustainable environment.

Environmental Science in general and the

issues that it studies are complex and interdisciplinary.
It includes concepts and ideas from multiple fields
of the study. Decisions have impacts in all these
field of study.

Major environmental problem especially in

the Philippines are as follows;

Resource Depletion - A great deal of resources

are needed to support the human population.
(~7 Billion)

Pollution - is a degradation or an undesired change

in air, water, or soil that affects the health of the living things.

Loss of Biodiversity - The number of species

on the Earth is unknown, but the estimated to be in
the tens of millions. Biodiversity is the number of
different species present in one specific ecosystem.

Sea Level Rise - World Risk Index assesses

sea level rise (a cause of coastal flooding) as one of
its indicators.

To further understand the lesson,

let us have an activity card and follow (The students will do the activity.)
the direction in it.

Group 1:
Create a short report about environmental
project that your locality have done based on
the given topic. Write at least five.

Group 2:
Create a slogan that shows the interconnections
of each element from water cycle to the sulfur cycle.

Group 3:
Make poster that promotes sustainability.

Let us take a look in your

Works. (The students will present their work.)

Let us recall our lesson today.

Let us recall our lesson today. How important
the environment is? (The students will answer.)

Correct!
Is it really necessary to study Environment
Science subject? (The students will answer.)

In your own way how are you going (The students will answer.)
to promote sustainable development and
what are the action you would like to do to
start saving the environment?

Exactly.
