    Social networking sites (SNS) is a web based service that enables you to

    communicate with friends and family, keep you updated with news, etc.

    It allows the users to express themselves, share content or multimedia and more.

    It provides innovative methods for interacting with

    friends such as games, interactive maps and so on.

    Social Networking is a website that enables users to create public profiles

    on a public portal and interact with other users.

    A Social networking website allows a user to

    • Setup an account or to create a profile (a digital representation of themselves)

    • Choose members of the site as contacts

    • Communicate and engage with these users.

    Advantages of social networking

    • Educational development: Discuss schoolwork and share assignments

    • Research: You can research using various search engines and and gather information.

    • Digital competence: Learning to adapt to new technologies at a young age will help you adapt to
    future technology

    • Social skills: You can stay in touch with your friends and make new ones. Social media can increase self
    esteem and help someone to feel less isolated
    • Independence and Self-expression: You can create your own blog to express your thoughts and allow
    people to express and discuss their view point.

    Disadvantages of Social Networking

    • Little or no time for face to face interaction

    • Spending too much time on the Internet, mostly in activities like writing comments or playing games
    may harm you health and there are changes of being getting addicted

    • Some content on the Internet might be harmful, if you have access to wrong or inappropriate content.

    Posts can be multimedia and other stuff. The articles are placed in non-chronological order.

    A blog is your own website. You update it on an ongoing bases. Blog is a short form for the word weblog.

    A blogger is a person who maintains a blog. Posting articles on a blog is called blogging.

    Web feeds are updates about new content available on the websites. If you subscribe to certain
    websites, they will send you user updates on new content. Its a great way of staying up-to-date. It is
    easier for users to keep track of any updates.

    Forums are a way of contacting people with similar interests globally. Its a place on the internet where
