Descriptive Title: Survey of Philippine Literature

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to develop student’s sense of awareness and responsibilities toward their country and to the whole world as a whole. This course covers the
different literary texts from various regions of the Philippines. The literary text serves as the vehicles for understanding the artistic and cultural value of Philippine literature.
The course also includes the study of literary genres as exemplified by the literary texts using the different critical approaches
COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the end of the semester, students should be able to;


1. Trace the historical transition of the Philippine Literature from the Pre-Spanish period up to the present;
2. Read and analyze literary selection that exemplify the multi-valued Filipino experiences and their muti-vocal articulations;
3. Understand how the Filipino constituted in Philippine literary text;
4. Explain the significant features of the various literary pieces from different periods;
5. Inculcate values, awareness of and appreciation for a Filipino literary legacy;
6. Characterize the various type of Philippine literature in relation to the particular historical conditions that had produced them;
7. Analyze sample representative works by Filipino from various regions in terms of their human, cultural, and social significance;
8. Appreciate the different types and forms of Filipino literatures.

To pass the course, a student must attain at least 75% based on the computation stated below.
