Year 2 have been handling 2D shapes

this week. Running their fingers along
each side as they count.

During their Maths lessons children

went on a 2D shape hunt and took
part in a shape quiz. Children
developed strategies to count sides,
such as using markings and keeping
the shape still. Children have since
moved on to learning about vertices
and will be creating their own 3D
structures next week.

This term Year 5’s history topic is ‘Ancient Greece’ and they are already
completely hooked on their learning! The children have recently delved into a
beautiful book called ‘Mythologica’ which is an encyclopaedia of gods, monsters
and mortals from Ancient Greece.

While exploring this text, they learned about Zeus (king of the Gods), Hera
(Goddess of marriage, women and family), Hermes (messenger of the Gods)
and Aphrodite (Goddess of love and beauty). Have a look at some of their
research …

SUPERTATO
Reception Class enjoyed reading the
story of Supertato this week. They
have had fun in their Superhero
Headquarters, created traps to
capture Evil Pea and made posters to
warn everyone to beware. The children
even made their very own
Supertatoes.

Remember - some vegetables are

frozen for a very good reason!

Congratulations to Yuvraj and Isabela in Year 4 for receiving their pen licence from Mrs. Singh. It
is clear that they have made a blistering start to the new term and have been working hard on
their handwriting and presentation. Amber in Year 3 was recognised for her rapid improvement in
speaking French. Aditri and Aadya in Year 6 received the Sehr Gute Arbeit award for their
wonderful efforts in the recent Primary Bee heats. Well done to all our budding linguists, keep up
the good work. Alex in Year 4 proudly displayed his certificate from The Associated Board of the

Can materials change state?

Year 4 carried out several experiments to find out if materials such as solid
chocolate and orange juice can change state.

How do you think they turned solid chocolate into a liquid?

How did the orange juice become solid?

The process of freezing and heating can help some materials to change state.

Can you think of other materials that can change state?

This week saw the start of Lower School Singing Club, where children from Year 1,2 and 3
come together to sing fun warmups and learn new songs and build on their confidence in
performing. Each week a child will be selected to pick a 'Song of the week' from Miss Dunk's
Treasure Chest, which includes music from movies, pop singers and many more. This week
it was Ravi's turn, and he pulled out 'Into The Unknown' from the popular Disney movie
Frozen, everyone sounded incredible! I wonder what will be in the box next week? Well done
everyone, keep smiling and keep singing!

Computing
Year 1 enjoyed a number of interactive
activities in Computing this week. First,
they unpicked some of the ways to
share and collect information.

As a class, Year 1 then explained how

they each travel to school. This was
displayed on a class pictogram as each
child added their own data. Then, the
children created their own question
digitally and worked out how to collect
and input the relevant data.

Mr. Laubach and Mrs. Hilditch were

most impressed with the class's
technical resilience and the way in
which they collaborated on their
projects.
