1. How is Philosophy and Art connected?
Art is a work of art in which the artist relies on their creativity, conceptual ideas, and emotion to create an interesting product. Philosophy, on the other hand, leads our thoughts, directing how we think clearly, analytically, and powerfully. Furthermore, impressive comes from critical thinking. However, a person visualized an art from their own understanding; “there can be no subtle feelings without a certain level of intellect, thus art, which aesthetically reflects man's emotional-intellectual world in his relationship to the environment, to influence by philosophy and other sciences”. The theory of art as an imitation of beauty or nature was persistent throughout the history of art. Lastly, we have the word philosophy of art, which studies of the nature of art, including the different concepts such as interpretation, representation, and expression. It is closely related to aesthetics, the philosophical study of beauty and taste in the arts.
2. Discuss the various purposes and functions of art in our society.
In our discussion, we discuss the four functions of art in our society, which have a different role in shaping us into reality of the world. The admiration of the beauty of arts or decorations is known as art of delight. Seeing the gorgeous creatures created by artists with their own eyes. Furthermore, they interpret the arts through their own perspectives. Second, Worship and ritual art consists of sculptures, places, or paintings. Intended to enhance spirituality and connection to Christ. The connection or worship is the most important here. Third, Art for Commemoration, to guarantee that the audience remembers an event or person through the presentation. The purpose of this is to be retaining the memory, events, and people from the past. And lastly, the art of persuasion, from the word persuade, meaning artist believing the audience what the artist shows. The most important thing here is art revealing the truth of reality from the present, even in the past. 3. Explain the meaning of “And no wonder, for art is a powerful catalyst for such abilities as power of imagination, keen intuition and the knack of association, abilities needed by both scientists and philosophers.” Art is powerful because it requires imagination to create a wonderful work. And producing a masterpiece is important in being a competent scientist and philosopher. What I understand in this term, we have different interests when it comes to arts, and however, it indicates that how the ability of imagination works, when it comes to different pieces of arts. To elaborate, art is a tool for experts such as scientists and philosophers. Scientists and philosophers require an art form to express or represent their feelings and knowledge. They were gifted with an aesthetic appreciation of the world because they recognized it because of the art. It was worldview fosters critical, creative, and innovative thinking among scientists and philosophers. And art was always present in them, as the creative ideas that these great men conceived were all based on their capacity to observe the physical world.
