less can be damaging. Bad sleep will bring you the worst
consequences in life. Even illnesses could be accelerated.

When you improve your sleep, everything in your body just


improves. Your brain will process things better. You will have
more focus, more energy, and be happier.

Your ability to reach your goals, wake up with motivation,


think clearly and be happy is heavily influenced by the
way you sleep.

Have a routine
Wake up and go to sleep every day at the same time.
1 With time, you won’t even need an alarm clock; you will wake up and fall
asleep at the same time every day.
Figure out what works best for you and stick to it.
Our bodies are designed to optimize for a given routine to follow every day.

Extend your bedtime


2 Go to sleep earlier, wake up later.
Waking up earlier doesn’t mean you are going to be more productive.
Going to sleep earlier DOES mean it.
The extra half hour you add to your sleep quality can drastically change your
future.
The more hours you dedicate to being in bed, the more hours you will be able
to sleep.
It is not about 8 hours of lying in bed; it is about getting 8 hours of sleep.
Set aside time to sleep in your daily schedule.
You have to make sleep as if it was your full time job.

Do not get overstimulated


3 Make sure you don’t do or think about anything exciting in the last hours of your
day.
Social media damages you a lot in this way.
Don’t overstimulate yourself with video games, junk food, loud music, etc.
If you think about spending one extra hour playing video games or scrolling
through social media, you must remember how much better your future is going
to look if you just put it into your sleep.
This will make you perform better in every area of your life.

Avoid screen blue-light exposure


Especially after the sunset.
4 Blue light tells our brain that it is still daytime.
This will make it more difficult to fall asleep.
If you need to use screens after the sunset, put a night light filter on in each
one of them. You can do that in your PC and mobile settings.
You can set them on 3 hours before your bedtime.
They will automatically turn on and off on most devices.
The experience using screen filters won't be the same, but your sleep is much
more important.
Do exercise
5 If you do some form of exercise every day, you will fall asleep much faster
because you will feel tired.
It will even feel pleasant to lie in bed.
You will fall asleep in no time.
If you feel wide awake, it is because you have not done enough.
Working on your goals and getting exhausted at the end of the day will
produce the same effect.
We are designed to have a purpose in life, that is why giving it our all will make
us sleep much better.

Journal
6 Analyze the tasks you have completed during the day.
Plan and see what is up for the next day.
Take a look at the tasks you have due and add new ones, if necessary.
Doing this will take your thoughts out of your mind, and you won't need to worry
about remembering them.
Intrusive thoughts about tomorrow are going to prevent you from falling asleep.
If you do this, they will all be written down and organized.

Think about something imaginary


7 Think about fantasy—about something that isn’t real without any underlying
emotion or desire.
Imagine that you are in a parallel virtual world.
You can also read a book before going to sleep and think about it.
Thinking about fantasy makes you unwind from your day and lets you fall into
the dream world perfectly. In this world, there are no obligations or worries.

Trick: Breathe through your nose


BONUS Practice breathing through your nose during the day.
It is super beneficial to do.
Nasal breathing while you sleep will make you feel much more rested.
It allows you to inhale much more oxygen and also changes the shape of your
face, making you more attractive (yes, you can actually look that up).
Mouth breathing is bad; we were given a nose for something.
Practice breathing by taking long inhales and exhales.
If you find it hard to get the air through, it is a matter of practice.

Humans didn't have as many sleeping problems before modern times.


It is not a matter of adding complex or expensive habits to your daily life.
It is about removing or changing the way you do certain things. You don't need pills.
Following these simple principles and sticking to them will solve 95% of your sleeping problems.
