4. What is the different between if clause and main clause?
Answer : The "if" clause and the main clause serve different functions and are connected to
convey a particular condition and its consequence. Here's an explanation of the differences
between the "if" clause and the main clause:
1. If Clause:
 The "if" clause, also known as the conditional clause, introduces a condition. It
sets the stage for a hypothetical or real situation that, if met, will lead to a specific
result in the main clause.
 The "if" clause often begins with the word "if," but other words or phrases
expressing conditionality can also be used (e.g., unless, provided that, in case).
 Example: If it rains, we will stay indoors. (The condition is rain.)
2. Main Clause:
 The main clause follows the "if" clause and expresses the consequence or result of
the condition stated in the "if" clause. It reveals what will happen if the condition
is fulfilled.
 The main clause typically includes the main verb and provides the outcome,
action, or result of the condition stated in the "if" clause.
 Example: If it rains, we will stay indoors. (The result is staying indoors.)
5. What is the language feature of if conditional sentences
Answer :
 Use of Conditional Words : Conditional sentences often begin with conditional
words or phrases such as "if," "unless," "provided that," "in case," etc.
 Structure with If-Clause and Main Clause : The generic structure of if
conditional sentences includes an "if" clause (conditional clause) followed by a
main clause.
 Verb Tenses : The choice of verb tenses in if conditional sentences depends on the
type of condition being expressed:
1. Zero Conditional: Uses present simple in both the "if" clause and the main
clause.
2. First Conditional: Uses present simple in the "if" clause and will + base form in
the main clause.
3. Second Conditional: Uses past simple in the "if" clause and would + base form
in the main clause.
4. Third Conditional: Uses past perfect in the "if" clause and would have + past
participle in the main clause.
 Modal Verbs: Modal verbs, such as "will," "would," "can," or "could," are
commonly used in the main clause of if conditional sentences to express the
consequence or result.
 Expressing Hypothetical or Unreal Situations
 Variation with Mixed Conditionals
 Politeness and Indirectness
