    SENATE APPROVES ACADEMIC CALENDAR FOR 2023/2024 ACADEMIC SESSION


    Senate at its 305th Statutory Meeting held on Thursday, 28th December 2023, deliberated on the
    proposal of the Committee of Provost, Deans and Directors (COPDD) and approved the Academic
    Calendar for the 2023/2024 Academic Session as follows:

    A. FIRST SEMESTER 2023/2024 ACADEMIC SESSION

    S/N DATES ACTIVITIES


    1. Monday, 15th to Friday, 26th January Resumption, Medicals and Registration for Freshers
    2024 & Registration of Returning Students
    2. Monday, 22nd January to Friday, 29th Lectures for Freshers and Returning Students
    March 2024
    3. Monday, 11th to Friday, 22nd March Late Registration with Payment of N5,000 penalty
    2024 fee
    4. Monday, 1st to Friday, 19th April 2024 Examination
    5. Monday, 22nd April to Friday, 3rd May, Grading/Uploading of Results
    2024
    6. Monday, 6th to Friday, 10th May 2024 Department and Faculty Consideration/Uploading of
    Corrections and ICT Processing of Results
    7. Monday, 13th to Thursday, 16th May Collation of Results to Senate and Senate Meeting

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION: TIMELY NOTIFICATION OF EVENTS IN THE UNIVERSITY
    Attention: Heads of Departments/Directorates/Centres/Units/Chairmen of Organising
    Committees
    The Centre for Information and Public Relations (CIPR) has observed the practice by some
    Departments/ Directorates/Centres of sending very short notices of invitation to the Centre to provide
    some of its services such as coverage and or anchorage of events. In some instances, members of staff
    of the Centre are "highjacked" merely minutes to such programmes/events or invited through "the
    backdoor" without any formal notice.
    This development seriously hampers proper planning, and by implication, the quality of
    service delivery of the Centre.
    Against this background, the University Community is hereby notified that all invitations to the Centre
    for Information and Public Relations (CIPR) to provide its services at pre-scheduled events (save
    those directly from members of the University Management) must be received latest 72
    hours before the event. Please note further, that the Centre would not entertain any invitation to
    pre-scheduled event that is not formally conveyed through an official memo, latest 72 hours
    before the event.

    NB: This notice excludes events that are for publicity only.
