JOB DESCRIPTION
REPORTS TO:
The Curriculum Area Manager who will be responsible in the first instance for the teaching
timetable.
In the first instance, your duties and responsibilities are as listed below. As the needs of the
College change, you will be expected to take on, or drop, responsibilities as directed by the
Head of Faculty or Curriculum Area Manager.
1) To teach Hospitality and Catering related subjects at any of the centres utilised by the
College.
2) To develop programmes of study to meet the particular needs of client groups served by
the College.
6) To ensure that each learner has completed an Initial Assessment, Induction and
accessed their Individual Learning Plan in Promonitor.
7) To monitor and assess students in accordance with the requirements of the programme
and to contribute to the Quality Improvement Strategy, including Internal/External
Verification.
8) To ensure effective and appropriate learning support is provided for students on the
course.
2) To ensure that the course/s of students are effectively delivered in line with Awarding
Body requirements.
4) To ensure that learners health and safety is safeguarded and that Government themes
are embedded within the curriculum and in teaching and learning.
6) To conduct student interviews, attend Open Days/Evening Events and to manage the
admissions/enrolment process for the course/s in liaison with the College’s Admissions
staff.
7) To work with the Head of Faculty, Curriculum Area Manager and course team members
in providing management information and ensuring the completion of necessary
administration procedures.
8) To set and monitor targets for student enrolment, attendance, punctuality, retention and
achievement, and report on these factors as required.
9) To develop and manage the innovative use of course materials and resources, including
ILT/VLE.
1) Perform his/her duties in accordance with the College’s Equality Policy, undertaking
mandatory training as required by the College.
4) Ensure the health and safety of all staff and resources within his/her area(s) of
responsibility, i.e. delegated responsibility in relation to the nature of the post holder’s
duties and personal responsibilities as per Sections 7 and 8 of the Health and Safety at
Work Act 1974.
6) Ensure that teaching and learning is at a high standard in line with OFSTED criteria, and
that he/she is committed to making any improvements necessary to raise the standard
of their teaching and learning.
10) Perform any other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time by the
Principal and Chief Executive, through the Head of Department.
The post holder will work in an environment of constant change and pressure where an
amount of personal decision-making and judgement is required.
The post holder must have the ability to work with a wide range of people of all ages from
very different backgrounds with very different needs and to respond accordingly to support
those needs.
The duties and responsibilities attached to this role demand a flexible approach to work,
which will include occasional evenings.

The person specification details the principal skills and personal attributes required in the
post holder in order to effectively fulfil the role. The criteria are ranked A, B and C and this
ranking refers to the importance we will give your answers when we read your application in
terms of the key skills relevant to the job.
A The successful candidate must have all the As on the first day of commencing in post in
order to be able to fulfil the role to which he/she has been appointed.
B The post holder needs to have all the Bs to effectively do the job, but they could be
learnt during the induction or within an agreed timescale.
C If the post holder can demonstrate they meet the C criteria this would be an additional
bonus. Criteria ranked as C remain important to the role but could be learnt over a
longer period of time.
Where criteria are to be identified through the Selection Process, this may involve a
combination of written exercises, literacy and/or numeracy assessments, presentations,
other practical assessments relevant to the role and a traditional interview process.
