Unit Name: How do living things work?
SOI: By understanding the relationship between the necessities of life and the specialized forms and functions of living things, we can make decisions and take actions for healthier and more sustainable lifestyles.
Purpose of the unit:
Enable students to know, understand and reflect on cellular diversity and its significance & how it helps us to make decisions for healthier and sustainable lifestyles, to provide equity and justice to the world and its people.

Introduction to genetic engineering & GM Foods( in context to making decisions

Charts and models to exhibit diversity of cell types & life forms & Cell inclusions
Construct clear and accurate diagrams of various cell types to understand
diversity & Learn to use a light microscope.
Draw diagrams and describe their associated functions (Nucleus, Chloroplast ,
Mitochondrion ).
Interpret microscope slides of cells and prepare onion cells and observe its parts under a simple microscope. (Diagrammatic representation)
Reflecting on the impact of science through opinion pieces/models/ charts on
