Chapter 10 - Mensuration
Worksheet

Name: ______________________ Subject: Mathematics

Grade 6 Sec: _____

I. Choose the correct answers.

1. The length of a rectangular field is 600 m and breadth are 350 m. Perimeter of rectangle is
(a) 1800 m (b) 1900 m (c) 1700 m (d) 2000 m

2. The sides of a triangle are 25 cm, 20 cm and 22 cm. Perimeter of triangle is

(a) 65 cm (b) 67 cm (c) 60 cm (d) 70 cm

3. Area of a square of side 12 m is

(a) 150 m2 (b) 144 m2 (c) 169 m2 (d) 175 m2

4. Perimeter of a regular octagon of side 14 cm is

(a) 120 cm (b) 112 cm (c) 115 cm (d) 121 cm

5. Cost of fencing around a square field is ₹ 15000. If the cost of fencing per meter is ₹ 50, the area of the
square field is
(a) 5625 m2 (b) 5600 m2 (c) 5500 m2 (d) 5650 m2

6. The side of a square is 12 cm. How many times will the new perimeter become if the side of the square
is tripled
(a) 4 times (b) 3 times (c) 5 times (d) 6 times

II. Fill in the blanks:

7 (i) Perimeter of a regular pentagon is five times its side.

(ii) The cost of fencing a square park of side 150 m at the rate of ₹30 meter Rs.18000
(iii) The cost of fencing a rectangular park of length 150 m and breadth 100 m at the rate of ₹ 20 per
meter is Rs.10000
(iv) The distance travelled by a person if he takes five rounds of square park of side 80 m is 1600 m
(v) The area of rectangle whose length and breadth are 15 cm and 6 cm is 90 square cm
(vi) If the perimeter of rectangular field is 200 m and its breath is 40 m, then its area is

III. State True or False for each of the following statements.

8 (i) The cost of levelling a rectangular ground at ₹ 1.25 per square meter is ₹ 900. If the length of the
ground is 30 meters, then the width is 24 cm. True
(ii) The length of a rectangle is three times its breadth. Perimeter of the rectangle is 48 cm. The area of
the rectangle is 105 cm2 . False
(iii) If the perimeter of a square is 16 cm, then the area of the square is 16 cm 2. True
IV. Do as directed.

9. Find the number of marble slabs of size 20 cm x 30 cm required to pave the floor of a square room of
side 3 m.

Area of room = 300 x 300 = 90000 square cm

Area of marble slab = 20 cm x 30 cm = 600 square cm
Number of slabs required = 90000 ÷ 600 = 150

10. A 5m wide lawn is cultivated all along the outside of a rectangular plot measuring 90 m x 40 m. Find
the total area of the lawn.

Length of the lawn = 100m

Width of the lawn = 50 m
Area of outer rectangle = 5000 square meter
Area of rectangular plot = 3600 square meter
Area of lawn = 1400 square meter

11. Around a rectangular garden of length 10 m and width 5 m, a road 1 m wide is laid. Find the cost of
metaling the road at ₹ 200 per m2 .

Area of rectangular garden = 10 m x 5 m = 50 square meter

Area of outer rectangle = 12 x 7 =84 square meter
Area of road = 84 – 50 = 34 square meter
Cost of metaling the road = 34 x 200 = Rs 6800

12. Find the number of square shaped tin sheets of side 20cm that can be cut off from a square tin of sheet
of side 1 m.

Area of tin sheet 1 m x 1m = 1 square meter = 10000 square cm

Area of small tin sheet = 20 cm x 20 cm = 400 square cm
Number of small tin sheets that can be cut = 10000 ÷400 = 25

13. The cost of levelling a rectangular ground at ₹ 1.25 sq. metre is ₹ 900. If the length of the ground is 30
meters, find the width of the ground.

Area of the ground = 900÷1.25 = 720 square meter

Width of the ground = 7200 ÷ 30 = 240 m

14. If the perimeter of a rectangular field is 200 m and its breadth is 40 m. Find its area.

Length of the field = (200 ÷2) – 40 = 60 m

Area = 60 x 40 = 2400 square m

15. The cost of fencing a square garden is ₹ 400 at the rate of ₹ 1 per meter. Find the area of the garden in
square meters.

Area of square = 400 square meter

16. A square of sides 2 cm is to be cut from a rectangle of sides 5 cm and 3 cm. What is the area of the
resulting shape?
Area of rectangle = 15 square cm
Area of square cut = 4 square cm
Area of resulting shape = 15 – 4 = 11 square cm

V. Find the area and perimeter of the following figures.
