 Please read the Important Notice before application!

― IMPORTANT NOTICE ―

1. Please apply in due period!.

2. Recently, some agencies curculate wrong information about the study at Kunsan NU to attract
the attention from students who want to study in Korea. If you have any querries about the
study at Kunsan NU, please contact us directly.
3. Some departments/majors demand the interview (telephone, e-mail or ZOOM online) besides
the documents screening. Applicant should enter the exact e-mail address and phone number
when applying online.
4. For all documents not published in Korean or English, the translation in Korean or English is
needed.
5. When applying online, please do not make a new application but modify the previous
application by clicking the button ‘Modify.’ (All repeated applications by an applicant will be
deleted by administrator except for the latest one.)
6. If you want transfer admission, you need to check it to department/major. The depts/majors
having decided to accept the transfer admission are indicated in the Prospectus.
7. When applying online, you should check if you want to apply for a room at student dormitory
and take Korean language course after your admission.
(In case of cancellation of application for dormitory room after the arrival in Korea, the
cancellation fee corresponding to one month stay about KRW200,000 should be borne by the
applicant.)
8. The applicant staying in Korea should enter the visa type and alien registration number.
9. Admission letter can be issued only when the applicant pays the tuition (or remits the
corresponding amount of tuition to IALE) and submits the verification of degree certificate
(Apostille, consular confirmation or CHSI and so on). For non-Chinese applicant, the original
copy of verification should be submitted to IALE immediately after the arrival in Korea. (Based
upon “Guidebook to Visa Issuance and Sojourn Control for Foreign Students” by Korean Ministry of Justice)
10. Information for 3 Graduate Schools of Special Purposes
(1) These graduate schools have only master’s course programs and the classes are taught in
the evening (usually after 18:00). It is required to register minimum 5 semesters contrary to
Graduate School’s master’s course.
(2) For thesis writing graduation, 24 credits or more are required and for non-thesis writing
graduation, 30 credits or more and cumulative GPA of B [B+ for Graduate School of
Education] or better are required.
11. Regarding the academic matters (such as foreign language test, graduation examination and
so on) and degree award requirements (such as minimum credits, graduation thesis or
dissertation and so on) of Graduate School and graduate schools of special purposes,
students should make inquiries to the administrative offices of graduate schools or
departments to avoid any possible failed graduation.
12. Within one year of admission, if you cannnot get TOPIK LV.4 (entertainment and sports major
LV.3), you only can listen about korean classes, cannot listen major classes. (Except the
international student who conduct classes in English)
13. If you cannot get your credit for graduation because of korean classes, you need to
extension your education period (we do not support your tuition fee)

2 Eligibility

Classification Contents

◯1 Non-Korean national whose parents have no Korean nationalities or ◯ 2 non-Korean national

having completed his/her whole education period (from elementary to high school) outside
Korea and college/university education outside or in Korea regardless of parents' nationalities.
※ Korean national (Including the applicant with dual nationalities or whose parents hold dual
Common nationalities) is not eligible for the application.
Qualification ※ For Chinese applicant, lifelong education system (distance learning, internet learning, adult
education, Self-Taught Higher Education Exam and Correspondence Education) cannot be
recognized as regular academic degree. (Only if the degree certificate issued by the head of
university and CHSI verification on degree and academic qualification issued by Chinese
Ministry of Education are submitted, the process of eligibility check can be done.)

1. Master’s Course & MA-PhD Combined Course: One who have received (or is expected to
receive) a bachelor's degree or been recognized as having the equivalent academic degree
and is deemed appropriate by the KSNU president.

3 Admission Screening

(1) Inspection of Applicant’s Eligibility by IALE

- Check the Nationalities of applicant and parents with applicant’s studying period
- Check the authenticity or failure of the submitted documents
- Check the eleigibility for freshman or transfer admission
- Check the other conditions related to the eligibilty
(1) Inspection of Applicant’s Qualification by Each Department/Major
- Check the applicant’s grades at the last visited school and qualification for study
- Check the applicant’s Korean (or English in case of need) language proficiency
- Check the applicant’s ability to follow the department/major’s academic curriculum for graduation
- Making interview with the applicant in case of need (E-mail, phone or by online via ZOOM)
- Making the final decision about the admission of applicant and report it to IALE

Information for Insurance Coverage

v Type of Insurance: Public insurance supported by Korean Government

v Foreign students will be automatically covered by NHI immediately after the completion of alien
registration.
v Insurance period: Until the end of study in Korea (Student should pay monthly contribution to NHI and, if
not, visa extension is not possible.)
v Insurance fee can be increased year by year. (At present, KRW70,000 to KRW140,000 per month)
