Proposed English and Book Month Celebration

S.Y. 2023-2024
November 7, 2023– Proposed Launching of the English and Book Month Celebration

Theme: Read, Reread, Relive: Making Connections through Life and Literature
Rationale:
The theme "Read, Reread, Relive!" for the English month celebration carries a
strong and meaningful rationale that underscores the importance of reading in our lives.
The theme encourages the development of a reading culture by emphasizing the
act of reading. It reminds people that reading should be an integral part of their daily
lives, not just a hobby or occasional activity. Many individuals, especially in today's fast-
paced digital world, may have lost their enthusiasm for reading. "Read, Reread, Relive!"
aims to reignite the genuine passion for reading that might have faded over time. By
rereading favorite books or exploring new ones, people can rediscover the joy of
reading.
The theme also advocates for the cultivation of a daily reading habit. Reading
regularly can have numerous cognitive and emotional benefits, including enhanced
critical thinking, empathy, and stress reduction. Making reading a daily ritual can have a
profound impact on one's personal growth and well-being. It goes beyond the act of
reading and emphasizes the importance of reading with a real purpose. It encourages
readers to delve deeper into the content, to contemplate its meaning, and to apply what
they've learned in their lives. This approach transforms reading from a passive activity
into an active one with tangible benefits.
"Read, Reread, Relive!" also encourages readers to revisit classic literature.
Classic books often contain timeless themes and lessons that remain relevant
throughout the ages. Rereading these classics allows individuals to relive the wisdom
and insights contained within them. By emphasizing the act of rereading, the theme also
promotes the preservation of literary heritage. Many books hold immense cultural and
historical significance, and rereading them helps ensure that their value is not forgotten
or overlooked.
Reading is not only a solitary activity but can also be a means of connecting with
others. It encourages reading as a shared experience, where people can discuss and
share their insights, fostering meaningful connections and discussions within the
community. Reading is a lifelong journey of learning and growth. "Read, Reread,
Relive!" serves as a reminder that there is always more to discover, explore, and learn
through the act of reading.
In summary, the theme "Read, Reread, Relive!" for the English month celebration
aims to rekindle a genuine passion for reading, promote the habit of daily reading, and
emphasize the value of reading with purpose. It encourages individuals to revisit classic
literature, connect with others through shared reading experiences, and continue their
lifelong journey of learning and personal development through books.
