Major Design Project (July-Dec 2023)

GROUP HOUSING PROJECT, BIHTA

The site is in Bihta, opposite to NIT Patna, Bihta Campus on State Highway 2 connecting Bihta
to Bikram. Create your design requirements considering an ideal group housing project.

Requirement –
 To provide all type of housing units i.e. EWS. LIG, MIG and HIG.
 Allocation of percentage of Flats should be as per the DRC norms and survey analysis of
the area.
 To provide modern residential and recreational facilities.
 To provide the infrastructure facility and amenities for the residing population.
 To enhance the surrounding with greenery, landscaping, and recommended aesthetics to
create a better microclimate in the area.

Basic requirements

No. of DUs in the Township: 150 DUs per Hectare


Average Size of Household: 4.8 Persons
Total No. of DUs: 150 x 14.1 = 2,115 DUs
Net Population: 2115 x 4.8 = 10,152 Persons

Average Daily Water Requirement: 135 Lpcd


Sewerage Disposal: 70% of Daily Requirement
Solid Waste Generation: 0.6 – 0.8 Kg per Person
Electrical Substation: 1 per 15,000 population
Senior Secondary School: Upto 7,500 Population

EWS Group: 25 Sq. M(Minimum)
LIG Group: 45 Sq. M(Minimum)
MIG-I Group: 120 Sq. M(Maximum)
MIG-II Group: 150 Sq. M(Maximum)
HIG Group: 180 Sq. M(Maximum)

Submission requirements-

Pre-design submissions: Literature study, Case Study, and Area Statements comparisons

Drawings required: Concept plans, Site Plan, Plans, Elevations, Sections, one detailing
drawing (electrical, plumbing, structure, landscape)

3D modelling: Views, walkthrough, and physical model

Scale: Suitable scale can be chosen to explain the drawings clearly. It should be
presentable on-screen during the viva.
Timeline for submissions:

Discussions and presentations will happen in the studio classes. The following last dates
for submissions are the date for marking and not for discussion.
