Narrative Report
Catch-Up Fridays
February 2,2024

Catch-Up Friday on Reading is integrated into our weekly schedule, allowing

learners to dedicate a specific portion of their day to reading. The initiative encourages a broad
spectrum of reading materials. Aside from this, it aims to recognize the vital role of youth in
nation-building by acquiring and strengthening peace competencies allowing them to become
peace builders and advocates in their respective communities, while Health Education
demands stronger advocacy to ensure the overall health and well-being of learners.

Grade VI-Rose learners were divided into reading-level groups based on their level
on PHIL-IRI assessment. Before proceeding to the reading phase, learners had the spelling bee
and were grouped for an activity called synonym hunting. Various stories were chosen to meet
the needs of each level. After reading aloud, students were required to complete
comprehension exercises for pre-reading activities. It was followed by a reading exercise in
which students answered questions that centered on a story's storyline, character, and setting.
Their post-reading assignment was to arrange events.

Our MAPEH lesson included health education. After talking about caring for body
parts, learners were instructed to write a journal entry summarizing what they had discovered
and how to impart it to others. For promoting peace and values education, peace concepts and
meaning were also discussed with the learners to enlighten them more on peace education.

This activity has proven to be a valuable initiative, fostering a culture of continuous

learning and knowledge-sharing for the betterment of learners. As learners continue to
embrace this dedicated time for reading, a huge difference on their performance level in the
different academic subjects is also expected to be uplifted.
