Jumanji is an American thriller-fantasy film made in 1995. It was directed by Joe

Johnston based on a novel written by Chris Van Allsburg in 1981. The movie tells the story of
a magical game in which there are animals, and the animals will come out if they are listed on
the board. And the game will be over if one of the players can reach the Jumanji point. This
movie is supported by famous players, such as Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, Bradley
Pierce, and Bonnie Hunt.
In 1869, 2 men buried an object because it was quite "dangerous". In 1969, a 12-year-
old boy named Alan Parrish rediscovered it. The place where it was buried is now near his
father's shoe factory. It was a board game called Jumanji. At night, Alan and his friend Sarah
Whittle play with the game, but strangeness happens. Bats coming out of the Jumanji board
and Alan was sucked into the board with the instruction, "In the forest, you must wait until
the number on the dice is 5 or 8". 26 years later, Judy (Kirsten Dunst) and Peter Shepherd
(Bradley Pierce) move into a new house with their aunt (which they learn is the Parrish
family home). They both find Jumanji and play it. Until one of them gets a die with a 5 or 8.
Then out comes a Robin Williams man, known to be Alan, who was sucked into the game
board. And the three of them then went to Sarah's (Bonnie Hunt) house. Initially Sarah did
not believe that Alan was alive, because Alan was believed to have died. The four of them
continued Alan and Sarah's 26-year-delayed game. Various oddities continue to occur. Until
one of them manages to reach the Jumanji point. The story returns to 26 years ago, when
Alan and Sarah were playing Jumanji. 26 years later, at the Parrish family home, Alan and
Sarah are married. Sarah is pregnant with their first child. They are reunited with Judy and
Peter.
The film captivates audiences with its inventive plot, blending fantasy elements with
the real-world challenges the characters face. Robin Williams delivers a memorable
performance, infusing the film with his trademark humor and heartfelt moments. The
camaraderie between Williams, Dunst, and Pierce creates a dynamic trio that keeps the
audience engaged. The special effects, though dated by today's standards, were
groundbreaking at the time, bringing the jungle and its inhabitants to life in a way that
captured imaginations. The use of practical effects alongside early CGI adds a nostalgic
charm to the film. "Jumanji" successfully balances thrills and laughs, providing a
rollercoaster of emotions. The film's message about facing fears and embracing teamwork is
delivered in a way that resonates with both children and adults. The pacing keeps the
audience on the edge of their seats, with each roll of the dice bringing new challenges and
surprises. Alan's journey of self-discovery and the growth of the Shepherd siblings are woven
seamlessly into the adventurous narrative. The clever incorporation of the game's rules into
the storyline adds an extra layer of suspense.
"Jumanji" is a timeless classic that continues to enchant audiences with its
imaginative storyline, stellar performances, and a perfect blend of adventure and humor. It
remains a nostalgic favorite for those who grew up with it and continues to capture the hearts
of new generations.

The Case of the Missing Smile is about a little girl who lost her smile. Not because
she was unhappy, but because she was afraid of losing a friend, the Tooth Fairy.
As Detective Peterson reviews the stack of reports on his desk, he is suddenly
intrigued by the case of Sophia Sue Simmons missing smile. The detective studied the report
and learned that Sophia always smiled from the moment she got out of bed to the moment she
got back into bed. However, two days ago, Shopia Sue's smile suddenly disappeared. This
made the detective wonder about the reason why Shopia Sue's smile disappeared. There are
several things that detectives do, including studying reports about Shopia Sue, asking The
Smile-O-meter, and asking the dentist. But all of that didn't work until there was one option
left, which was for Detective Peterson to visit Shopia Sue and see what she was doing.
This book is very good for children. There are also illustrations that can be interesting
when reading, as if the reader can feel the event. But there are also shortcomings in this book.
On the cover of the book, there should be some illustrations that match the contents of the
book so that it can attract the reader more.
I give this a big 4,5/5 because this book is very interesting, especially for young
children.
